Chapter 6

I held Sophia in my arms with her arms around my neck and my hand in Collin's. We walked inside and Colin pulled me closer to him.

“Mom, we’re here,” Colin yelled as we walked inside. We went into the living room and sat down. Sophia curled into my side trying to hide. His mom started to make her way to us, so I dug my nails into his hand.

“Sorry about that, hi I’m Carrie.” She smiled walking over to us.

“Hi I’m McKenna and this is my daughter Sophia.”

“Hi, sweetie.” She smiled at her.

“Oh, she’s so cute.”

“Thank you.” I kissed the top of her head making her look up at me.

“Is she?”

“Mom, is Kendall awake?”

“Let’s go see her.”

“It's nice meeting you, Mrs. Price.”

“You too, both of you.” I smiled as I pulled Sophia up and followed Collin. We walked into a room where a little girl was sitting on her bed. Collin walked over and sat next to her.

“Mommy, how come she has that?” She pointed to all the tubes around Kendall.

“It’s okay; it’s to help her breath. Kendall, this is McKenna and Sophia.”

“Hi Kendall, it’s so good to meet you.” I sat down and pulled Sophia into my lap.

“Do you have toys?”

“Soph.” I groaned while Kendall smiled at her.

“What?” She got off the bed and went over to the corner where there were toys. I let Sophia down and she went over and they started to play. I walked over and sat next to Colin.

“Is this okay?”

“Yea, she can do the same things we can. Some things might be a little more difficult though.”

“I can’t wait for Sophia to have a little sibling to play with and teach things too.”

“One day.”

“Yea one day.” For some reason, I’ve been having baby fever. I think because Sean is pregnant again. I do miss feeling her kicks and movements and just having her there. Colin and I just started dating so I don’t want to rush anything especially a baby. Colin was a good guy and all, but we are not ready for this.

“What are you thinking about?” He asked.

“Us, her.”

“We’ll talk about it later.” I nodded looking back over to the girls. The door opened and his mom came in and smiled at us.

“They okay?”

We hung out a little longer and ate dinner before heading back to my place. Colin carried Sophia upstairs and I got her ready for bed.

“Love you, baby.” I kissed her forehead and went back downstairs where Colin was. I walked over and lay on top of him while he wrapped his arms around me.

“See it wasn’t that bad.”

“No, it wasn’t. Sorry about Sophia.”

“It’s okay, she’s little she didn’t know.” I sighed and pushed my face into his neck.

“So you were thinking about a baby earlier?”

“Yea, I have baby fever, probably because Sean is pregnant. I miss being pregnant.”

“You know we could have one.”

“We could, but we’re not ready for that. We only just started dating and a baby would just rush everything. Neither of us is ready for a baby. I already have Sophia and that’s enough for now.”

“One day though, what do you want next?”

“A little boy would be cute.”

“I can see it now, a little momma’s boy.”

“Hey now, Sophia’s a momma’s girl too.”

“True, but we’re still best friends.”

“I love that. If she didn’t like you, then we wouldn’t work.”

“Well, I’m glad she does like me.” I smiled as he leaned down, pressing his lips to mine kissing me softly. Of course, the doorbell went off and I got up to answer the door.

“What are you doing here?” I hissed.

“Where’s my daughter?” Rickey roared back.

“She is asleep, so you have no reason to be here.”

“I want to see her.”

“No, she is sleeping now leave.” He pushed past me and I grabbed his arm to stop him.

“Rickey stop,” I yelled. He turned to find Colin.

“What is he doing here?”

“That’s none of your business.” He pulled out of my grasp and ran upstairs. I followed him as he went into Sophia’s room.

“Stop.” I was scared he was going to hurt her or take her from me.

“Hi, baby girl.” He said softly to her.

“Daddy.” She said softly. I walked over and sat on the bed next to her.

“Daddy, I’m tired.”

“Don’t you want to come to play with me?”

“Later daddy.”

“Do you want to hang out with daddy tomorrow?” She nodded her head closing her eyes.

“Okay, I will come to see you tomorrow. Love you, Sophia.”

“Love you, daddy.” He kissed the back of her head and moved away from her.

“Love you Sophia Shae.”

“Love you, mommy.” I pulled away and took Rickey out her room bringing him back downstairs.

“What is wrong with you?”

“I wanted to see my daughter.”

“You didn’t have to wake her up. Don’t you dare tell her you're going to spend time with her when you probably won’t?”

“I will since you keep her from me.”

“Excuse me. I have never kept you away from her. All you have to do is call me if you wanted to see her. You’re the one that makes promises to her but never keeps them. I’m the one that holds her when she cries for you.”

“You’re a bitch, I can’t deal with you.”

“Hey, you don’t get to call her that.” Colin came standing next to me.

“Stay out of it.”

“Mommy.” She was sobbing. I walked over and scooped her up.

“Leave Rickey.”

“He has to leave too.”

“Its okay baby, everything is okay.”

“It’s okay Sophia, daddy is here.” I felt him move closer and Sophia held onto me tighter.

“Come here, princess.”

“I got you.”

“Fine.” He left and slammed the door making me jump. Colin walked over, wrapping his arms around me pulling us into his arms.

“Everything is okay.”

“Why he do that?”

“Don’t know baby. Come on let’s get you back to bed.”

“I want to stay with you and Colin.”

“For a little bit.”

We locked up downstairs and went up to my room lying down. Sophia was curled up against my chest while Colin had his head on my shoulder and his arm around us. This was my favorite place to be. Curled up with my two favorite people, my baby, and my boyfriend

“Daddy mean.” I sighed wanting to agree with her but I couldn’t.

“Baby, he was just upset.”

“He called you bad words.”

“And he’s going to get into trouble next time I see him.”

“Don’t worry Sophia, I will protect mommy.” I smiled, kissing his forehead.

“Do you love my mommy?”

“I like your mommy.”

“Come on princess time for bed.”

“But I like cuddling with you and Colin.”

“I know baby, but it’s past your bedtime.”

“Night Colin.”

“Good night Sophia.” He kissed her forehead and pulled away, so I could bring Sophia to her room.

“Love you Sophia Shae. Don’t worry about anything, mommy is going to take care of everything.”

“Is daddy going to hurt me?”

“No baby he’s not. He loves you so much, he was just upset.”

“I don’t like it.”

“Me either honey. Go to sleep.”

“Love you, mommy.”

“Love you too baby.” I kissed her forehead and she closed her eyes going to sleep. I watched her for a minute then went back to my room.

“You okay?”

“He stresses me out.”

“Come here.” He sat up and I walked over leaning against him, he massaged my shoulders.

“I know I really shouldn’t do this, but I want you to stay tonight.”

“She loves me.”

“I know, but I think it’s too soon for her. Plus if she tells her dad, I will never hear the end of it.”

“Who cares what he thinks, besides its none of his business.”

“I agree, but I’m so sick of fighting with him. It’s always the same thing.”

“Would you ever let him take her for the night?”

“Not unless he changed, I just don’t trust him. I know he would never hurt her, but he doesn’t know the first thing about taking care of her. Maybe take her to the park with me still there.”

“I wish you both didn’t have to go through that.”

“I wish I wasn’t so stupid back then. He was a player and such an ass and I knew that, but I still liked him.”

“You weren’t stupid. You can’t help who you like.”

“I know, but him of all people and I had a baby with him. She is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, but she deserves so much more. I don’t want to be with him, but I wish he was around more for her.”

“Have you told him this?”

“I’ve tried.”

“Get him to listen or maybe I should talk to him.”

“That’s probably not a good idea.”

“If you say so.” I sighed turning around curling up to him.

“Why couldn’t I have met you sooner?”

“Just weren’t ready for us yet.”
