12: "I could be."
I was not used to feeling like this. If I wanted a woman, I could go onto my phone and I honestly had countless women I could summon.
Fuck Boy Enterprises.
But I couldn't. I'd already picked my phone up to call Thea, my regular fuck buddy. But my fingers wouldn't do it. They would not fucking obey.
Because of her.
It wasn't purely physical; but fuck me she was perfect. It was more than that.
I closed my eyes when I remembered the last text message I'd sent her. I'd wanted her to tell me no way, she was done with the British ex. But she didn't.
So she was meeting him today, and I didn't know how I was going to cope. I didn't know where, or what time. But I was worried.
The way he had looked at her...it was a look I'd seen before.
A girl from school had fell for a proper possessive guy, and had ended up marrying him. But you couldn't even look in her direction because he would think nothing of starting a brawl with you.
I should know, seeing as this girl and I had history.
The problem was, he was Aaron Taylors best friend. Which meant Aaron would pour ice over Victoria and me the first chance he had.
Anyway, I digress.
The way this guy looked at Victoria was exactly how Cole Brewster had looked at Alicia Randall, his best friends sister.
If you want to read the story of Cole & Alicia, it's called My Brothers Best Friend and is in my library 👍🥰
I didn't doubt that this guy loved her, but there was something off about him. Like he was toxic.
I rolled over in bed, groaning when I saw the time. Almost eleven am. I decided to get up, doing some weights before I showered.
I knew some of the guys were training at the park today, so I decided to go. It would help take my mind off those lips of hers. Everytime I was around her I just wanted to kiss her, and not stop.
I couldn't though, it wasn't fair. I couldn't cloud her judgement right now by playing with her sexually.
Do. Not. Think. Of. Fucking. Her.
I groaned, before hauling ass to the park. It was only a short drive away, through the town. Plus it was a Sunday so it would be dead on the roads.
I drove faster than I should've, annoyed when I had to stop at the traffic lights. My brow furrowed, my mouth opening slightly when I saw her cross the road before me.
No fucking way.
She was in her own world, her head down with earphones plugged into her ears. She wore a long black coat over tights and boots- be still, my beating heart- a large tartan scarf wrapped around her neck to protect her from the cold.
How did she get here? I wondered if she had caught the bus. They were so damn slow on Sunday's.
A car honked behind me, making me scowl in my rearview mirror.
"Prick," I muttered, pulling in to the nearest parking lot. I wasn't thinking straight, but I just wanted to see who she was meeting.
Was it him?
I threw my keys into my pocket, jogging slightly to keep her in my sight.
God she was gorgeous.
I watched as she walked into Starbucks, the door closing softly behind her. I paused, not wanting to get any closer.
I just wanted to see if she was meeting him.
I narrowed my eyes when I saw him stand, his arms opening wide to greet her. She sat in front of him, ignoring his arms.
I couldn't stand and watch her like some sort of psycho. I turned away, coming face to face with Aaron Taylor. He studied me carefully, glancing over my shoulder as the realisation dawned on his face.
"Drake," he murmured, folding his arms.
"Is this the bit where you tell me to leave your cousin alone?" I sighed, ready to get it over and done with.
"No," he said, watching me carefully. "Should I?"
"No. I'm not what I used to be," I rubbed the back of my neck, feeling uncomfortable under his gaze.
"People change, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But Drake. Don't even think about fucking her and leaving her. Or I will kill you."
"Taylor. I don't have any intention of doing that."
He nodded, his eyes drifting to the coffee shop.
"Should I be concerned that you've followed her? It's a bit of a red flag, not gonna lie."
"I didn't follow her. I saw her as I was driving through, and I wanted to make sure she was ok," I snapped, as he raised an eyebrow to me.
"By following her?"
"Well, isn't that what you're doing right now?"
"Yeah, but I'm her family."
"You barely know her. I know her better than you, so don't throw that shit at me."
We stared at each other, before he finally broke his stare.
"Whoa, they're done."
I frowned, turning around to see her walk out before him. He said something to her, making her stop and stare at the floor.
Keep walking, Victoria...
He was a decent looking guy, I'd give him that. But what I saw next I didn't expect. She leaned up, allowing his arms to slide around her waist.
He cupped her face, his lips crushing hers as I turned away.
"Fuck this," I muttered, pushing past Aaron who was standing looking rather shocked himself.
Nice one, Victoria. Yet I'm the fuck boy? I could be.
