Annabelle’s point of view
“How do you know it’s the previous beta? Weren’t they both like brothers?” Jax questioned after a few moments. Taking in a deep breath, I prepared myself for the words that felt like thorns in my throat.
“H-he,” I paused for a second, clearing my throat, “He had this sick obsession with me, even though I had a mate. He thought that it was his right to sexually harass me, I always hated him but he didn’t care. The next time he tried, Xavier saw and threw him in the dungeons. After that, I don’t know what happened and I never asked.” I finished, avoiding eye contact.
“Why didn’t you tell the alpha, Ann?” Jax questioned and I grimaced, thinking of all those terrifying memories. How would he help me when he was the first one to do it?
“He wouldn’t believe me.” I said in a small voice, I felt physically drained, everything just felt too much. Why was this happening to me? What had I done to deserve all of this? Do I not deserve happiness? It feels like everywhere I go, there is just pain.
″I’m sorry, Ann.” Hazel whispered from beside me. Giving her a small smile, I shook my head.
“Don’t be, it’s not your fault.” I said before turning my attention back to Jax who looked to be deep in his thoughts.
“This incident explains that he’s obviously not dead and hiding somewhere, waiting for the perfect moment to strike again.” I said, anger quite evident in my voice as well as pain. He was out there. If he thought that he could win this time then he is badly mistaken. I’ll make sure to make him regret ever meeting me.
I didn’t know where all this confidence and venom was coming from but I didn’t mind it, in fct it made me happy. I wasn’t going to be the weak Ann whom everyone treated as a baby. I was going to be luna of this pack and teach that pathetic wolf one hell of a lesson.
“I know he didn’t do it alone though, he had backup so this means he has made some new friends as well. Good for him.” I said in a monotone voice, Jax nodded his head, taking out some files from one of the compartments in his glass desk.
He passed the file to me while I looked at it questioningly. Obviously Jax saw my confusion and said, “This is the whole file on the previous alpha, all his contacts with people, the packs that he knew, the places he often visited, some of his friend’s locations and shit like that.”
Nodding my head, I skimmed through the pages in the file, it was a huge file and right now, I knew I couldn’t focus on it much so I decided to thoroughly go through it at night.
“Can I take it with me? I’d like to go through it properly.” I questioned, holding the blue file in my hand. Jax nodded his head with a slight shrug.
“So what are we going to do now?” Hazel asked after a moment of silence.
“Find out Damon’s location, throw him in the dungeons along with the friends he made and when Xavier wakes up, he can decide whatever he wants to do with him, except for letting him survive.” I said, moving my finger in an unknown pattern on the hard cover of the file.
“But how are we going to find his location?” Jax asked, tilting his head slightly to the side in confusion. Licking my lips, I thought over my plan.
“I’m sure that Xavier had good connections with different packs and they should be willing to help, send letters to all the packs regarding this, if they see Damon anywhere then report to us. This would also help us in knowing his locations because if he isn’t in any pack then that means he’s a rogue and his scent would’ve obviously changed so make sure to send a picture of Damon, if they see any rogues and one just so happens to be him, then they know what to do.” I ended my long speech with a shrug.
“What if he is hiding somewhere? How will we find him then?”
“He could be hiding but I know he will come here to pay us a visit so keep the warriors prepared for any sudden invasion.”
“Okay then, I’ll start working on the letters.” Jax said as he took his phone from his pocket, typing on it furiously. Running my fingers through my blond locks, I sighed. What if I can’t find him? What if he’s too fast? I was pretty sure that it was him so there weren’t any doubts on that. But there was a single question that petrified me, even the mere thought of it was enough for me to feel like ripping my heart out because of the pain it brought.
What if he didn’t wake up?
Bidding goodbye to Jax and Hazel, I left the office. As I walked down the hallway, I noticed the moonlight that shone through the windows into the hallway, giving the dimly lit hallway some light.
Stopping by the window, I stared at the moon with a smile that held the immense pain I felt.
“I won’t question anything but just please, let him live. I am ready to give anything, just bring him, moon goddess.” I said feeling the previous tears resurface. My heart felt like someone was squeezing it mercilessly and by no means was it a pleasant feeling. I just wanted him back, was that too much to ask for?
“Please let him live.”
Unknown point of view
Sighing, I sat up from my bed due to the continuous blaring of my phone. Picking it up, I answered it, annoyed. Whoever had disrupted my sleep surely had a death wish.
“What?!” I practically yelled at the person on the other line. I touched my hair, feeling the tangles and sighed. Great, just great! I had to deal with this shit as well. Sometimes, I feel like chopping all my hair off but I know I can’t do that.
“You’re in an awfully pleasant mood, no, princess?” I heard a deep voice, bringing the phone away from my ear, I stared at the contact name mentally cursing myself for picking it up without checking.
“What the fuck do you want?” I said in a pissed off tone, I clearly wasn’t in the mood to deal with his shit right now. I heard another deep chuckle making me cringe for some unknown reason. My eyes fell on my manicured matte black nails, a smile on my face. Nails were something that I had always preferred to be clean and painted.
“Pissed off are we now, princess?” the man said again with a chuckle which was starting to annoy me quite a lot now.
“Get to the point, what do you want?”
“Ah, always straight to the point, have fun once in a while, princess.” I could practically hear the smugness in his voice, he knew how much this was annoying me and he was taking full advantage of my situation. His actions always managed to piss me off to no end, no scratch that, his mere presence was enough to throw me in a bad mood.
“If you try to play games with me one more time, I will not hesitate to rip you to shreds.” I said in a venomous tone. If it were anyone else, they probably would’ve shit their pants but of course this dumb idiot was going to laugh.
“You know you won’t do that, you love me too much to do such a thing.” he said in a whiny tone making me laugh. Only it wasn’t a humble laugh.
“Don’t challenge me, you know it won’t turn out good for you.” I said with a cruel smile on my face. I heard the line go completely silent, he knew I wasn’t joking. After a few moments, I heard him curse under his breath before he began to speak again in his extremely annoying voice.
“You have got a mission, you need to assassin someone.” I heard him say, his voice seemed distant meaning that he was probably searching for something and the phone was away from his ear.
“Not the first time, so who is it?” I questioned while I stood up from my bed and made my way to the bathroom. I put my phone on speaker as I washed my face and brushed my teeth.
“Just wait a second, I can’t get a hold of the file. Ah, where the fuck did I leave it?” I heard him curse and groan as he searched for the file. I rolled my eyes, leave it to this idiot to always mess things up.
“Can’t you do a single job straight? And why wasn’t I informed of this before?” I question as I spat the water into the sink before washing my hands. I moved towards the towel holder, grabbing my towel, I wiped my hands and face.
“Eh, I don’t know, ask him. He also just informed me today. It did seem urgent though.” he said as I heard something hit the ground, a string of curses followed the sound making me roll my eyes again. I grabbed my phone and went back to my room. I decide to comb my hair and remove the highly unattractive knots.
“Guess he messed shit up.” I said as I recalled what he said. Urgent. Even though he was my boss, I hated him with a passion. Many didn’t know the reason for my hate except him but he always laughed it off. He knew I wouldn’t kill him, he knew exactly why and he took full advantage of it.
“Yeah, he probably did but don’t tell him I said that, he’d have my head removed.” I laughed at his words, of course everyone feared him, everyone except me. He was well aware of that as well and I’m sure it frustrated him to no end that he couldn’t ‘have my head removed’ as the dumb bitch had said.
Oh well, too fucking bad.
“Relax, I won’t tell him.” I said as I struggled with untangling my hair, cursing it in the process. I heard a sigh of relief from the other side making me mentally laugh.
“Fuck you.” I heard him say and laughed, of course I wouldn’t actually do that but I liked teasing him. He gets on my nerves all the time so it’s only fair if I return the favor.
Finally being done with my hair, I slammed the hair brush on the vanity and a triumphant smile made its way on my lips as I stared at my straight and untangled hair in the mirror.
“Dude, I don’t do micro dicks like yours, come back later.” I said in a fake serious tone, I heard him laugh from the other side as he came back to his phone, picking it up and bringing it to his ear.
“You wound me, b.” he said, adding the nickname that he had given me. I laughed at his fake voice as he tried to sound offended but failed quite miserably. He was a douche but I enjoyed his company a lot.
“Aww, but you haven’t even seen how I actually wound.” I said mimicking a baby voice which actually did sound quite believable. Honestly, I could’ve been a great actress and earned a lot of cash if I weren’t what I was right now.
Why was I here again?
“And I never wanna know.” he sang in a girly voice making me laugh, I knew he was dancing around as well.
“Okay, now did you find the file, bitch?” I asked, trying my best not to act very curious but I knew a sliver of curiosity had accidentally slipped through my voice. I heard him laugh before there was silence for a few seconds.
“Yup, I got it right here in my hand!” he said, enthusiastically. I perked up at his words, excited to know who was going to be my next victim. I heard some shuffling of paper indicating to me that he was searching through the file.
“So who is it?” I questioned, not trying to hide my curiosity this time.
“It’s someone from the red dawn pack.”
