Hey guys, so if it tells you that the previous chapters have been edited, don’t worry. The story is the exact same, I have just corrected the grammar and re-uploaded them. This is a new chapter though, enjoy!
It had been exactly one month since my whole life had changed, and damn, did my life change.
I had been to see my dad every single day since I met him. Sometimes it was to talk about Jax, any new developments on his side or any leaked information that we could use but most of the time, it was just so he could get to know his daughter.
We seemed to be getting on like a house on fire. He would tell me stories about what he was like when he was younger and he would tell me what Julian was like, much to my brother’s embarrassment.
Julian and I were becoming much closer too. We have had days where we just hung out alone and properly got to know each other. I felt as if I had always known him. We had so much in common and had very similar senses of humour.
I also spent a lot of time with Alexis. Julian and Dad had told me that she really loved me, so I always tried to set aside some time every evening to spend time with her. We would play with her toys; I would do her hair and we would just have fun together.
I absolutely loved my grandma; she was such a stereotypical grandmother. Whenever I would go over, she would always be cooking or baking something. She tried to feed me every time I saw her, even if I left the room to go to the bathroom.
Grandfather and I seemed to be getting along okay too. We were better than when we started. Although, we still clashed a lot and we’d had a few more arguments since I told him to choke on his head, but they were starting to become less frequent.
My group of friends were closer than ever now. We saw each other practically every single day. Poppy, Aylee and I were best friends and we were always texting, on group calls or hanging out together. Poppy and Olly were also officially boyfriend and girlfriend as of two weeks ago. Nothing had changed between Kasper and I; we were still doing exactly what we had been doing and I was still happy.
As for the rest of my family, I still hadn’t had the courage to tell Mum about meeting my dad. I was just worried about how she would take it. I had also avoided my uncle as best I could because I didn’t want to deal with the awkward conversation about that bloody report. My gran, Ellen and Addison were still cold-hearted witches who tried their best to make my life a living hell, but it didn’t bother me. Grandad and Aria were still lovely.
There was a week left until Christmas, two days left until the Christmas holiday’s started. I was looking forward to being off school and hanging out with my friends for a couple of weeks. Poppy, Aylee and I had decorated the little hut with some fairy lights and a little Christmas tree. We were going to have a little Christmas day there around Christmas.
“What are you thinking about?” Kasper asked me.
I turned my head to look at him. We were currently in my room and snuggled under my covers. We had spent the last couple of hours watching a movie together.
“Just the past month, I can’t believe how much everything changed for me,” I told him.
“I know what you mean,” he said.
“Hey, so I was thinking that we could all use some time away. Like for New Year’s Eve, we should go on a little trip somewhere. What do you think?” I asked him.
“That sounds great, I’m sure the guy will love it.”
I smiled at him. I had been thinking about this idea for the last few days. After all the intensiveness of the past couple of months, we all deserved a break. I do feel like the intensiveness was all my fault because if I hadn’t come, then they would still be living peacefully blissful lives.
Although, I’m glad I moved here. I have an amazing group of friends, a thing with a nice guy and I finally met my dad. It was like my dream come true. The only thing which would make my life even better, was to find and kill that ex of mine.
I looked at the time on my phone and it was past nine, I chuckled and showed Kasper.
“Whoa, where did that time go?” He commented.
“Well, it went while we were watching Elf,” I said.
“I still can’t believe you convinced me to watch Elf,” Kasper said and groaned.
“It’s one of my favourite Christmas films so it was tough,” I huffed and pouted my lip.
“You know, when you pout you look incredibly sexy.” Kasper smirked.
“Oh really? Is that so?” I turned my whole body to face him.
“Yep, a lot of stuff you do is incredibly sexy.”
“Like what?” I asked, biting my lip.
Kasper took a deep breath, “That.”
I giggled, taking in the reaction from him. I leaned over to kiss him, and we spent the next hour heavily making out to the point where we both had our shirts off.
“Hey Shay, you read – “ Kasper and I jumped a mile from each other as we heard a voice come from the doorway.
We glared at Aylee and she stood smirking with Julian, who was not. Julian was pulling a face which reminded me of a constipated gorilla.
“Jeez Aylee, you could knock!” I huffed as I yanked my top back on over my head.
“You know, you guys should come up for air and check your phones occasionally. We sent messages saying we were on our way.” Aylee held up her own phone and shook it.
I grabbed my phone to check and there were three messages warning us of their impending presence. I scowled at my phone, realising it had been on silence. Kasper and I got up and got sorted to go out. We were heading to the tracks tonight.
I was going to be racing tonight. It had been ages since I had even been on my bike. I had been either too nervous to get caught by Jax or simply too busy. It was weird though because I both missed racing and didn’t miss it because I didn’t need to worry about money anymore, so I didn’t feel any pressure.
When we got there, all our friends were there already. I was the only one to be racing tonight, the others said they couldn’t be arsed.
We all greeted each other then stood around and chatted for a while. When it was time for me to go up, they all wished me luck. Kasper walked up with me and gave me a kiss before I started.
When the gun signalled for the race to start, we all sped off. The first few rounds went by without a hitch. One my last round, a racer was starting to get closer to me. They managed to get right up beside me, glancing in my direction. I couldn’t see the face due to the helmet he was wearing but I knew it was a guy. All I could see was my helmet’s reflection in his.
The rider jerked his bike into mine, wobbling me but I didn’t go down. He tried to do it again but still didn’t hit me hard enough.
What the hell was this guy playing at? He’s purposely trying to knock me off.
I tried slowing down, to get behind him but he slowed too. I had to get off this track. I could see the finish coming up, and within a minute, we would be done.
The rider jerked again and this time, it was harder. I knew I was going to fall and pressed my breaks, but it didn’t help. The bike toppled and I skidded along the ground, my head banging in the helmet. When I stopped, all I could feel was dull pain down my right side. I watched as the rider kept going, speeding off through the crowd as people jumped out of the way. There was a small bit of folded paper next to me, and I could see my name scribbled on the top. I used my remaining strength and grabbed it then shoved it in my jacket pocket. I moved my head slightly, which was a big mistake because I could now feel myself losing consciousness. The last thing I saw was Anton’s smirking face disappearing into the crowd when it all went black.
“Hey baby, how have you been? Feels like I haven’t seen you in ages?” Jax asked me.
I lifted my head up from the book I was nose deep in and smiled, kissing him when he bent down.
“I know and I’m sorry, I have just been completely swamped with work. I am excited to go out tonight though, what time again?” I asked.
“I will come by at eight, it will be fun tonight. Anton got some new party favours for us,” Jax said, grinning.
“Ooh, really? What kind?”
Jax shrugged, “honestly, no clue but he said they’re like hypnotic.”
Jax kissed me again before walking out of the school library. I still couldn’t believe I was with him. He was in year thirteen and was dating me, a sixteen-year-old in year eleven.
I sat and read for the next hour before packing up my things and heading home. When I got home, the house was quiet which meant Mum was still at work. I rushed upstairs to take a shower and wash my hair before getting dressed. I blowdried and straightened my hair then applied some make up. I stood in front of my wardrobe for a few minutes, contemplating what to wear. In the end, I chose a tight black crop top and some leather pants.
Jax texted me and said he was on his way. I threw on my leather jacket, grabbed my bag and my shoes then went to go wait by the door, putting my shoes on as I waited. Jax announced his arrival by beeping his horn and I left the house. I smiled at him as I walked up to him. He took off his helmet and kissed me before giving me the spare. I climbed onto the back of his bike and we sped off.
When we got to the tracks, Anton was already there with the rest of the guys.
“Hey bitch,” Anton greeted.
“Sup dickhead,” I retorted back.
I greeted everyone else as Anton went over to talk to my boyfriend. Within half an hour, we were all drugged up on whatever Anton had given us.
To say I was high was an understatement, I was bounding around and dancing to the music playing. I could see Jax watching me with a smirk on his face. I turned to face him and started to dance just for him in a way I knew he liked. I could see his eyes darken as he moved his way over to me.
We started to dance and grind on each other for a little while before Jax pulled me over to the abandoned building that was next to these tracks.
“God damn, baby. Are you trying to kill me?” Jax asked in a husky voice.
He had me pinned up agains the wall and was raking his hands all over my body.
“Why? Was there an issue?” I asked him, biting my lip.
“Fuck,” he breathed out.
Jax attacked my lips with his and we spent the next ten minutes fucking against this wall. When we had finished, we went back out to find the rest of the guys. Anton had given us more drugs and I felt as if I was going in and out of consciousness but that didn’t stop me from dancing.
I danced and span around until I was dizzy. I took more drugs until all I could see was shapes. I fucked Jax a few more times then Jax led me over to where the rest of the guys were, he gave my hand to Ace then stepped back to lean against his bike with Anton. Jax watched as I danced with Ace, moving my hips to the beat of the music. Dante and Rafe came to dance with us and I rubbed up against all of them, all the while, Jax was watching me.
Jax jerked his head to signal me to come over to him, which I did. We locked lips and kissed for a while. Jax broke away and pushed me to one side, into Anton’s arms. He watched me again as I basically gave Anton a lap dance. Anton moved his hands to my waist and gripped tightly, pulling me in so his lips were mere inches away from my own. I glanced at Jax who gave me permission.
I pressed my lips against Anton’s. As we kissed, I could feel the burning stare from my boyfriend. When I broke away from Anton and looked back at Jax, he was filled with desire. Jax grabbed my hand and led me back to the abandoned building again and after another ten minutes of fucking, we rejoined the group.
I danced for the rest of the night with all the boys, each of them taking turns. I was so drugged up that I didn’t care what I was doing. I started to get tired and sat down on the grass with my back against one of the cars. I watched everyone for a while before I started to lose consciousness.
I opened my eyes and looked around. I could see plain white walls and a bright light. Aw shit, I’m not dead, right? I shuffled slightly and moved up so I could see better. I looked down at the thin blankets that covered me.
“What the hell?” I mumbled to myself.
I moved my head to the left, seeing a bunch of wires attached to a machine. Next to the machine was a sleeping Kasper who was curled up on a chair. He didn’t look good. Even though he was asleep, he looked exhausted. There were dark circles under his eyes, he was paler than usual, and he had light stubble going across his jaw.
I glanced to my right, seeing an open door. People dressed in doctor and nurse uniforms were bustling around. Am I in a hospital?
In the corner of my eye, I saw a bedside table. That was where I found my phone. It had been conveniently put on charge by someone. I picked it up and checked the time. It was three in the afternoon. I looked at the date and my mouth fell open. It was Friday?! It was only Wednesday the last I knew?! What the hell happened?
“Kasper!” I said, trying to wake him up. He didn’t stir so I said his name louder.
Kasper’s eyes fluttered open and confusion set on his face until he knew where he was. He stretched, moving his head in my direction. When he saw I was awake, he froze mid-stretch. Kasper immediately jumped to his feet, wrapping his arms around me.
“Shay, oh my god, are you okay?” He asked me, arms tightly wrapped around me. Shit, that kinda hurts.
I was thankful when he let go and the pain subsided.
“Yeah, I’m fine. What happened?” I asked.
Kasper pressed a button next to my bed before he sat down. “Well, this rider knocked you off your bike and on purpose. But we didn’t get to see who it was because he just drove off when you skidded on the ground.”
My memories came flooding back. Shit. “Yeah, I remember. I also remember seeing Anton’s smug face in the crowd before I passed out. Maybe it could have been him? Or he was watching to make sure it happened?”
Kasper mumbled a bunch of profanities under his breath when a nurse and a doctor came in.
“Shaylin, how are you feeling?” The doctor asked with concern in his voice.
“I’m fine,” I replied.
“Well, you have a small concussion and your shoulder had dislocated but the paramedics were able to pop that back in right away so it should be well on its way to feeling better now,” the doctor told me.
So that’s why I hurt when Kasper hugged me.
The doctor and the nurse did all the routine checks before leaving me alone with Kasper again. We sat in silence for a moment before he opened his mouth to speak.
“We were all so worried about you,” he told me.
I reached out and took his hand in mine then assured him I was fine. I tugged on Kasper’s and he complied, coming close enough until I was able to kiss him. I let out a breath of release that I didn’t know I was holding.
“Oh, by the way, there is something you should know,” Kasper started but before he could finish, he was interrupted by the voice of my mum.
I span my head around to greet my mum but froze when I saw Dad standing right next to her. They both had looks of concern on their faces but when they saw I was fine; they look of concern turned to looks of annoyance.
“Hey Mum, hey Dad.” I smiled at them, hoping they’d look less annoyed but no.
“Shaylin Elizabeth Rose! What in the fucking world happened?!” Mum shouted at me.
“You had us all worried sick!” Dad yelled.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t expect to end up here. It’s not like I wanted this to happen!” I defended.
“Do you even know what hell I have been through, young lady? Your grandma has been baking with worry! Do you even know what my kitchen looks like?” Dad said.
Mum looked at him, “Really Chris? That’s all you can fucking think about? The kitchen and your mother? You have a house full of employees! Feed them the cake and make them clean the kitchen!”
“Look, Jules, that’s not the point because I…” my mum and dad continued to bicker amongst themselves.
I tried to follow along but only heard little bits like “your mother bakes when Henry has a cold, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that she was baking now!” And “For God’s sake Juliet! You are just as infuriating about this as you were about our year eleven prom!”
I turned to look at Kasper, who was just as confused as I was and just when I was about to tell them to shut up, my grandma burst through the pair.
“Let me see my granddaughter!” She threw her arms around me as the bickering from my parents died down. When she let go, she turned to glare at my them.
“Sorry, I couldn’t keep her away any longer,” my grandfather said, appearing in the doorway. “I did try but she hit me with a wooden spoon and told me to get the car.”
I snorted, trying to hold in my laughter and I heard Kasper chuckle softly. Everyone came into the room and made themselves more comfortable. Mum sat on the foot of my bed and Kasper offered his chair to my grandma. Kasper moved to lean against the window whereas Dad and my grandfather, took the small couch.
“Okay, so what happened?” My grandfather asked.
I felt like I was constantly explaining the events of my life to other people. I had done so with what Jax had done to me several times and now I was repeating more of my life to my mum, dad and grandparents and I had no doubt that I would be explaining it again to my friends.
When I was finally discharged from the hospital around 7 o’clock at night, we all made our way to my dad‘s house. Mum held my hand the entire car ride over, almost like she would lose me if she let go.
When I entered the house, my nose was immediately filled with the aroma of baked goods and my stomach immediately started to rumble. I house was busy as usual, and I recognise most of the faces here. I froze slightly when I spotted my uncle in amongst the faces. I glanced to my dad as he had caught me staring and looked in that direction. He pulled a face and looked to my mum, who had not seen her brother yet.
“Oh Juliet, there is something you may want to know,” Dad said.
Mum turned to face my dad, waiting for him to continue.
“David has been working for me for the past fifteen years and spent the last month or so since you arrived, doing reports on you.” His voice was so casual as he told her this and pointed in the direction of her older brother.
“WHAT?!” She screamed.
This caused everyone to pause what they were doing for a second. Mum glared in the direction of her brother and he now looked like a scared little boy. Mum stormed off towards David. I glanced at my dad, who looked amused, as he watched the interaction between the siblings.
“Stop causing trouble, Christopher!” His mother reprimanded.
Dad chuckled to himself as she wondered off down the hall in the direction of my mum. Grandma and Grandfather followed suit.
“Shay! Oh my god!” The voice of Julian boomed over the noise and he rushed down the stairs with Aylee in tow.
Julian grabbed me and wrapped his arms around me, lightly kissing the top of my head. When he let go, I was immediately engulfed by Aylee’s arms but when she pulled back, she smacked my good shoulder.
“Don’t you dare do that again, you bitch!” She shouted at me.
“Sorry, its not like I wanted to be almost crushed by my bike!”
Aylee rolled her eyes at me, moving towards the stairs as she did so. Aylee sat down on the third step and I followed her action. The boys were stood in front of us, with Kasper leaning on the bannister. We could hear the distant arguing coming from the background between Mum and David. It also didn’t help that my dad kept butting in and making it worse, which he seemed to find highly amusing.
We watched at people started to leave the house, within ten minutes, the house was quiet apart from a screaming match.
“Is it just me, or are they acting like teenagers?” I asked.
“Its not just you,” Aylee said and rolled her eyes.
“Hey! I’m not going to apologise for keeping tabs on my daughter! It was bad enough you ran!” Dad argued.
“You know exactly why I ran! I didn’t want her to get caught up in all of this!” Mum shouted back.
“Yeah? And look how that turned out!” Dad sneered.
“Oh, shut up! You think that it was easy for me?!” Mum questioned.
“Well it certainly seemed to be easy to run away with our child when I told you I didn’t want you to!” Dad shouted.
“That’s it, I’ve had enough…” I mumbled as I stood up.
I marched down the hallway, in the direction of my arguing parents, I could hear the footsteps of my friends behind me.
I stood at the door of the office, which was where they were. The only people left in the office now was my parents, uncle and grandparents. My parents were the only ones who were talking, (well, screaming) while the others stood back and watched.
“Oh my god stop! You two are acting like spoiled brats!” I shouted.
Mum and Dad stopped arguing immediately and turned to face me. Their faces were plagued with guilt.
“This is not the time to be arguing about what happened almost eighteen years ago!” I scolded.
“She’s right, we need to focus all our attention to Jax as that twat nearly got her killed,” Kasper said.
“When did they become the grownups?” Grandfather mumbled, earning himself a small smack from his wife.
“We’re sorry, love.” Mum stepped forward and hugged me.
“Yeah, we’re sorry,” Dad said.
“Okay so, lets get started,” I said.
