Seven

When I awoke the next morning to cheerful sounds of siblings arguing, I instantly rushed to my door. Opening it, I found Dustin and Addison standing right outside my door, looking like they wanted to kill each other.

“What the hell guys?” I snapped, both turning to look at me.

“Oh brilliant, the slut is awake. Where were you last night? On the street corner?” Addison said in a snide voice.

“Nah, I don’t work Monday nights,” I replied, voice dripping with sarcasm.

“Addison, why do you have to be such a cow?” Dustin spat.

“Sorry brother, its just in my nature.” She flicked her hair over her head which caused Dustin to roll his eyes and storm off back towards his room to get ready for school.

I narrowed my eyes at the mini witch as she watched her brother storm off down the hall. She turned to me and looked as if she was going to say something. I put my hand up, turned around and slammed my bedroom door in her face.

What an absolute twat-bag. I don’t even know what they were arguing about but still, twat-bag.

I grabbed my uniform then pulled it on. I looked in the mirror and considered what to do with my hair before giving up and throwing it up in a ponytail. I applied a little bit of makeup then grabbed my bag and headed for the door. I stopped by the bathroom to brush my teeth before making my way downstairs.

As usual, Dustin was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for me, but this morning he had a sour look on his face.

“Dude, what the hell was that about?” I asked him.

“I called her out on spreading that shit around school and she didn’t even deny it, she literally just stood there with a smug look on her face,” he told me.

“Bitch, knew it was her.” I rolled my eyes as we got in his car, driving off in the direction of the school.

The day was mixed. Physics was evil, spanish was fun and PE was shit. By lunch time, I was already quite tired. I mean, serves me right for not getting home until like 1am.

As I was passing a stairwell, I spotted Kasper sat halfway up the first set of stairs. He was busy typing away on his phone and hadn’t spotted me yet. I walked over to him then leaned against the wall.

“I can feel you watching me,” he said, glancing up from his phone.

“Why are you sitting here like a loner?” I asked.

“Well, Julian is hungover and flat out refused to get out of bed this morning, so today, I am a loner.” Kasper chuckled to himself.

“Well, why don’t you just come sit with us?” I suggested. He considered it for a moment before agreeing, following me the rest of the way to the cafeteria.

When we walked through the doors, many heads turned to face us before the whispers started. I rolled my eyes and made my way through the maze of tables to reach the one we always sat at.

The reactions round the table were mixed. Aylee looked slightly smug, Dustin and Luca looked confused and Olly looked moody. We sat down and I could still feel many eyes on me.

“Mate, you’re playing a dangerous game coming to sit with us,” Dustin said, pointing in the direction of his sister.

Not so subtly, the entire table turned to look at Addison, she was presently glaring at us with such hatred, it seemed like she was trying to blow up our table. Aylee snickered as soon as she took in Addison’s expression.

“Hmm, wonder whats gotten her knickers in a twist,” Aylee said, feigning ignorance.

Kasper looked at Aylee and rolled his eyes, smiling slightly.

“How does she not get that she has like no chance?” Luca asked.

“She’s stubborn,” Dustin said. “I dont know how I am even related to her.”

“I just hope little Aria stays sweet and not turn into another witch like Addison or Gran.” I didn’t say Aunt Ellen in front of Dustin, but she was a witch and worse.

“So, Kasper, where’s Julian today?” Aylee asked.

“Hungover,” he paused and gave her a suspicious look. “Why do you wanna know?”

I swear Aylee’s cheeks turned bright red. I tried to hide my laugh behind my sandwich.

“Oh, uh no reason, just curious that’s all.” Aylee flicked her hair over her shoulder, trying her best to be casual.

The topic was dropped for the rest of lunch and we chatted absent-mindedly to one another. When the bell went, we all packed up our stuff and headed to our classes. Luca and I made our way to geography, finding the teacher half-asleep at his desk.

After a very un-educational lesson of geography, Luca and I met up with the guys by Dustin’s car. We stood and chatted for while before going our separate ways. We were going to meet up at the races later anyway.

When Dustin and I walked through the door, we were greeted by the sweet face of our grandad. He told us that we were going to have a family dinner tonight and to be in the dining room for six.

Until six, Dustin and I went into our own rooms. I sat and scrolled through facebook, watching different videos. I eventually landed on one which showed you how to make your own greenhouse, and even though I would never be doing that, I watched it anyway.

When it was time for dinner, I wondered downstairs. I was dressed to go straight out with Dustin afterwards. I had on black skinny jeans, a tight black cami and a leather jacket.

When I walked into the dining room, Gran gave me such a disapproving look, I felt proud. During dinner, I chatted away to Aria who was telling me about the new girl in her class who didn’t have any friends yet, so she was going to make friends with her tomorrow.

Dinner seemed awkward as Mum and Ellen still weren’t speaking to each other, Uncle David was sitting between his wife and his sister, making the wise decision to speak to neither of them and Grandad was at the far end of the table, keeping himself out of the drama.

Throughout the whole dinner, Addison was sending me daggers. I ignored her the whole time, as did Dustin. It really was getting pathetic now. I dont know why she didn’t just leave Kasper alone; he had apparently made it very clear multiple times that he just wasn’t interested.

The tracks were just normal, I didn’t race tonight but Luca did. I didn’t see Kasper that night either, but I saw Julian wondering through the crowd. Olly was back to his normal upbeat self. I really wasn’t sure what was up with him anymore.

Since the next day was Bonfire Night, some people were setting up a big pile of wood and kindling for tomorrow. There was going to be another party here (another excuse to get drunk) tomorrow.

As we were leaving, I caught a glimpse of someone very familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Maybe someone in one of my classes. I shrugged it off, but I still couldn’t help the feeling of discomfort.

The next day was quite fun, everyone was buzzing about the fireworks and bonfire later. At lunch, Kasper had come to sit with us again and this time brought Julian along. Aylee spent the lunch time being awkward and slightly nervous around Julian, who never noticed as he chatted away.

I was sat next to Kasper at the lunch table and I was very aware of his leg touching mine. He had also moved his hand under the table to he was stroking up my leg. He was acting like there was nothing going on with the others, but he knew fine well what he was putting me through.

I legit wanted to jump him right then and there but using all my power, I refrained. I picked at my lunch as I tried to ignore him, willing the bell to hurry up so I could stand. It didn’t help that we were this close in our next class either.

When the bell finally did go, I was relieved that I could get a few minutes to calm down. I scowled at him as we walked out of the cafeteria and he responded by giving me a smug look.

During history, I got my chance at revenge. I rested my hand on Kasper’s inner thigh, trailing my fingers upwards slowly. I glanced at him as he was trying his best not to react and copy down what the teacher was saying.

Kasper became fidgety when I moved my hand dangerously high then suddenly, I took my hand away as if nothing had happened. He turned to look at me and glared, which I responded by giving him a cute smile.

The rest of the lesson was normal, we didn’t speak much because the teacher didn’t shut up the entire time, and half of the time she was talking about her new kitten rather than the Russian Revolution.

Aylee was coming over after school so I met her straight after class, Dustin was going over to Luca’s but dropped us off on the way. When we walked into the house, we sensed tension. I so hope there wasn’t another argument again.

We were, however, unable to locate the tension and headed up to my room. Aria was playing with her dolls at the top of the stairs, still in her school uniform.

“Hi Shay!” She said. She looked at Aylee for a moment, puzzled. “Are you Amy?”

Aylee chuckled then corrected her, “No it’s Aylee but you were close.”

“Where is everyone, Aria?” I asked.

“I don’t know, they just sent me up here to play while they had ‘adult’ talk.” Aria rolled her eyes before picking up her dolls again.

Aylee and I shrugged at each other then headed into my room. For the next few hours, we sat on my bed and chatted aimlessly. When it was nearing the time to get ready, Aylee and I decided to do some quick face masks.

My phone pinged and I picked it up, grinning to myself at the text from Kasper.

Kasper – What the hell were you trying to do to me in history?!

Me – Well, considering what you were doing to me at lunch, mine was just friendly payback…

Kasper – Oh… so is that how you want to play it?

Me – Play what?

Kasper – Mmhmm

“And what are you so smiley about over there?” Aylee asked as she was starting to apply her makeup.

I showed her the texts, having absolutely no shame. Aylee’s mouth dropped open and her head snapped.

“What the hell was happening at lunch?!” She practically screamed.

Aylee listened intently as I told her about lunch then about History before giving me a suspicious look.

“What?” I asked.

“You like him, don’t you?”

“What? No! Don’t be silly, course I don’t like him.” Pfft, who was I trying to convince?

“Yeah, I can see it written all over your face!” She paused for a second, in thought. “Wait, how did I not notice anything at lunch?”

“Uh, maybe because you were too busy drooling over Julian,” I teased, causing Aylee to blush.

“I was not!” Aylee protested. I gave her a look. “Okay, fine! I may have had a crush on him since like first school but, have you seen him?”

“Yeah, you have a point.” I mean the boy is hot to be fair.

Once Aylee and I were ready, we headed out. Olly was coming to pick us up and he had texted saying he was outside. He took in our appearances as we hopped up into his truck, giving us a wolf whistle and a grin.

Aylee and I were dressed similarly, both with black skinny jeans and a leather jacket. The only real difference was was our shirts and shoes. Both of us had our hair down but I had a black beanie on.

The bonfire party was already in full swing when we got there, massive fires were dotted about the tracks and people had already set up the fireworks. We met up with Dustin and Luca who were already standing with Kasper and Julian. We all said our hello’s then Luca, Olly and Julian went off in search of a keg.

I sat on the edge of Olly’s truck bed, watching as a group of people were dancing away to the music. For the first time in a while, I was content and happy with where I was. Aylee jumped up and sat next to me, throwing her arm round my shoulder.

We sat like that for a while, watching the surroundings. The boys had come back with a few cups of beer and a medium bottle of vodka which they had gotten from the gas station. Aylee snatched it from Olly’s hands and took a swig.

Taking the bottle from Aylee, I let the hot liquid run down my throat. Aylee and I passed the bottle back and forth until we had finished it, and very quickly. We were giggling to each other in utter amusement but couldn’t figure out what was funny.

The music changed to another song, one which we both loved. We hopped up into a standing position on the truck bed and started to dance. All five of the boys watched us as we moved to the music, occasionally grinding on each other.

I lost my footing and fell back off the truck, landing in a pair of very strong arms. I continued to giggle, as did Aylee, at what just happened. The arms carefully placed me on the ground, but I was giggling too much, I slouched back until I hit someone.

I turned around to see the amused Kasper as he watched me make a fool of myself then looked from me to Aylee, shaking his head. As the mature adult I am, I stuck my tongue out at him. This caused Aylee and I to fall into utter hysterics.

“Dude, if Gran was to see you this way!” Dustin said, laughing at me.

“Well… that old witch can get fucked, cause I’m having fun!” I slurred, causing Dustin to laugh even more.

“Girl, I think you need to go home, Gran or no Gran,” Luca said. “You too Aylee.”

Aylee and I pouted, but Luca was firm. Spoil sport.

“I’ll take Shay,” Kasper offered.

“I’ve got Aylee,” Julian said, helping her down from the truck bed.

The boys led us away towards their vehicles, both holding us up. Julian managed to get Aylee into his car first, waving to us as he sped out. Kasper helped me around to the passenger side of his car. I didn’t know he had a car too?

He tried to pull the handle, but I got in the way, he looked down at me, smirking. I bit my lip then started to trail my fingers down his chest. He let out a breath and his eyes darkened.

“Babe, you don’t wanna be doing that right now, not after today.” Kasper caught my wrist.

I stood on my tip toes, brushing my lips along his jaw. “Oh? And why not?”

“Because I know fine well that if you keep teasing me like that, I ain’t gonna be able to stop myself,” he whispered in a seductive voice.

“Well, what if I dont want you to stop?” I wrapped my arms around his neck, slowly grinding my body against his.

He took a deep breath and gripped my hips, moving his lips to meet mine. He pushed my back against his car and kissed me fiercely, hands roaming all up and down my body. I wove my fingers through his hair, pulling and tugging. A small groan escaped his lips before he pulled away. We were both breathing heavily.

“Let’s go,” he said, before pulling the passenger side door open.

Just as I was about to hop in, I heard a voice which made every nerve in my body burn.
