i want a fresh start,
The kink in his neck was the first thing that he felt and he couldn't help but wince at the pinch of pain as he sat up. Rubbing the back of his neck, he bent his neck to the side and snapped it sharply back into place.
He definitely regretted falling onto the sofa the moment he stepped foot into the house instead of heading up stairs.
He sat there for a few minutes, on the sofa not really doing anything other than rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. His eyes remained drooped and he couldn't help but groan in frustration. Another hour of sleep sounded heavenly right now.
It was only when the smell of bacons and eggs wafted through the room that he finally woke up. Last he knew, there were no guests or people that he had invited over and the maid wasn't supposed to turn up for another hour so who was cooking?
Cautious and unwary, he walked over to the kitchen slowly, thankful that he was barefooted and not still wearing his expensive work shoes as they would have definitely given him away.
A brief exhalation of relief left him when he realised that there wasn't an intruder in the house and that it was only her, but then he grew bot curious and concerned at the fact that she was in the kitchen and cooking breakfast. One, not once in the past eight months had she woken up before nine and right now, it was half past seven in the morning. And two, he had condemned her from using dangerous appliances such as the cooker and the stove but it appeared that she was once again choosing to ignore him and do whatever she fancied.
Taking a seat on the bar stool at the kitchen counter, he watched as she finished making breakfast. He knew that she had seen him enter but she ignored him. He didn't mind though, not this time. She was humming quietly and almost dancing around the kitchen.
It was good to see her happy.
It wasn't long before she was finished. She sat down across from him and smiled. Momentarily blinded by her beauty, he stared at her as she began to eat her breakfast.
And then he realised that she hadn't made him any.
