The Seventh Chapter
"How'd they catch you this time?" I lean back.
"I was in my house cooking dinner," she answers me.
"You should have let Ty check you last time you came over."
"You really know how to tick me off, don't you?"
"It only took a couple weeks of practice."
"Whatever. Since this is your first time, grab my hand. If you can't answer, squeeze it. If I want to answer, I'll squeeze yours. Understand?" Ty actually asked if he could do that the first time he got interrogated. Then we got interrogated separately, so it was a no either way.
"Yeah. Got it," she says, right before Rachel comes in.
"Hello. Always fun to see a young couple. Of course, not if they kill people," Rachel sits across from Valeria.
"We're not a couple," I sigh. Valeria looks at me for a moment with sadness. For that moment, we both forget to hide our emotions.
"Are you sure? You both showed a hint of desire just now," I hate this woman.
"We're sure. Get to the questions," Valeria growls.
"Why care about the important stuff? This is the good stuff. But seriously, this is a tracker." She pulls out the same gun I got hit with and shows it to Valeria."You didn't get it out in time, so you passed out, right?"
"Yes. And?" She seems to get a lightbulb."Ohh."
"There it is. When that girl shot you, the chemicals mixed with your DNA. You are a girl we can track whenever we want to."
"Whenever you want to?" I lean forward.
"Yes. You guys really like attacking officers. Of course, Valeria actually killed someone. You didn't." She points at me.
"So, what's your question?" Valeria's getting annoyed. Her voice changes when she gets annoyed, but not many people notice it. I am one of the people that do.
"How many people have you attacked?"
I squeeze Valeria's hand."She just started."
"I wasn't asking you!" Rachel yells.
"He's speaking the truth. He saw me on the news one day, and decided to train me. He told me that if I was going to do it at all, I was gonna do it right. I know it's not right to begin with, but you know what I mean," Valeria's voice gets louder.
"Do not raise your voice at me. You killed, so I can't let you get away. I'll call a bus, and you'll be in your new homes by next Thursday," she takes out her phone. Today is Wednesday, so I guess we have time.
"You are boring. Next Thursday I had a Laser Tag tournament with my buddies," I whine.
"Aww. I'm a buddy," Valeria's voice calms down.
"Mayley! A little help?" Rachel calls to the wall.
"That's a wall," Valeria gives her the eyebrow.
"It's got a radio, and the others sit right behind it. They can see us, but we can't see them," I explain.
Mayley comes into the room."You want to see something super dramatic?"
"Why?" I ask.
"Just play along," Rachel nods at Mayley.
Mayley raises both of her arms slowly, and Tritt and three other men come into the room. Wow. I'm bored.
"Hands," Tritt demands, cuffs at the ready.
"Sure," I obey, like always. Valeria doesn't. As soon as they uncuff her, she throws an uppercut and steals a gun. She hits the back of the gun to the other officer's temple, knocking him out. Tritt elbows her in the face as she raises the gun to him. She falls against the wall. Tritt takes the gun. The two other officers slowly recover and get her cuffs on. She really needs to stop fighting. Rachel takes me to a cell. Seven days. I can do this. Maybe not Valeria, but I can.
