Plans For Love

It took me a while worth of calling. After almost 30 minutes of continuously calling out his name without any response, I was on the verge of giving up. But, then, the known light lit up the room.

Out of habit, I shut my eyes, a small smile playing on the edge of my lips.

When I opened my eyes and looked at him, I felt a gust of nervousness blow through me. It’s been a long time since I felt nervous either.

I was also scared of his reaction. Something I never thought I would ever feel. It had been a while since I cared about someone else’s opinion. And he brought that feeling back too.

That was the main reason why I was so cold towards him. Because I barely knew him but he still brought back every vulnerable emotion I have learned to block out. He brought back emotions I couldn’t control. And I hated to lose control over myself.

“Why did you call me, Ivy?” he was annoyed. His tone was as calm as the pacific and his face was as serene as always. But, the spark in his eyes made it clear for me. He was irked.

I took in a breath and held it for a while. Letting go, I politely offered, “Why don’t you take a seat? We have a long conversation ahead of us.”

He examined me for a while before, he moved to sit on the bed beside me. His wings spread themselves across the bed.

“What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?” he asked.

“First, I wanted to apologize for how I acted in the past few days. I guess I don’t really understand the concept of love. But, that break-up, especially since he was the one who broke it off, left me quite bitter. And, maybe that’s why I acted so obsessed” I informed him with a shrug.

A smile slowly spread across his lips. It made my stomach feel light. “It’s okay, Ivy. I understand that you made a mistake but I can only forgive you for what you said to me. I can’t grant you forgiveness for what you did to Kiara and Dane. Only they can do that. But, I don’t really think they will be willing to.”

“I know that. And after what I did, I probably don’t deserve their forgiveness. But, I want to fix the damage I’ve caused. And, if I get to do that and they still don’t want to forgive me, at least I will have redeemed myself” I told.

The smile widened and the approval and appreciation in his eyes lightened my heart. “What do you propose we do?”

“The first thing is to reach Dane even if he doesn’t want to see my face.”

“And then?”

I went ahead to give him a thorough run-down of my whole plan. As I kept on talking, giving details about everything, he kept nodding his head, a sign that he was following. But, other than that, he didn’t say a word or interrupt me.

The whole while, I noticed how with every passing minute his stiff body started to loosen and he began to relax. The serenity in his face never left but his emotions became more clear in his eyes.

I liked seeing him like this. I didn’t know why but the thought that somehow, he was a little more open to me now, made my heart expand.

“That is a very good idea. You must have been planning it for a while” he praised.

I shook my head. “No, I came up with it a few minutes before I started calling you.”

His eyes widened. “Oh. Well, that is quite impressive, Ivy. But, I don’t understand why you called me. I don’t have any involvement in this plot of yours.”

I felt the heat rising to my cheeks. Not knowing what else to do to hide it, I turned my head away. “Just for some moral support.”

I didn’t know how he reacted at that but I didn’t want to turn around and find out.

“You wanted some moral support?” his voice held a tint of amusement in them. I never heard that in his tone before.

“Yes, Cupid. For moral support” I huffed, a little annoyed and a little embarrassed.

“So, is that it? Can I leave now?”

I turned my head in his direction. “Sure,” I said with a shrug, “I will let you know when I can finally convince Dane for a meeting with me.”

I saw confusion spread in his eyes. “And why would you call me after that?”

I raised my eyebrows. “To let you know when you have to accompany me.”

He blinked.

I sighed. “You have to be there when I talk to Dane. And if he agrees to the plan, you have to be there when I put the plan into motion.”

Another smile stretched his lips. And maybe it was my imagination but it looked playful. “And I suppose that its also because you need some moral support?”

“Precisely” I murmured, looking away.

He chuckled before standing up.

“I think it’s that time I take my leave.”

I felt a wave of disappointment in me. But, I pushed it away. It was an unwanted feeling. And I didn’t want to acknowledge something I didn’t want.

So, I agreed without showing any hesitation. “Okay.”

He walked to the center of the room. His wings unfurled once before the curled around his body.

I stared at him, waiting for the bright light to start glowing.

“Ivy?” he said suddenly.

“Hmm?”

“Call me Pierce” he smiled.
