Chapter 13

Delilah

I ran my fingers through Karl's hair and chuckled when the feeling caused him to moan as he usually did when I played with his hair,

He can be such a baby at times.

I shook my head and chuckled at him.

He jumped out of bed suddenly and I watched him with narrowed brows as he strode towards his suitcase,

"I was thinking." He muttered, pulling out two tickets and making his way back to me. "That you and I need a break, these are two expense paid tickets to the Paris fair next weekend, I thought we could take advantage of the fair and visit paris-" I gaped and gasped in disbelief, "I know you've always wanted to go to Paris."

He returns back to bed to show me the tickets,

"Karl, I don't know what to say."

"You can say yes."

I smiled at the tickets in my hands before looking up at him, my grin diminishing with guilt, remembering I haven't told him what happened,

"Are you okay?" he asks.

"Yeah..." I cracked a smile, "It's just...We shouldn't be thinking of a vacation right now. We have so much to worry about, like paying that damn loan."

Your ex-wife in our house!

"You need to learn to stop worrying." He gives me a lazy yet loving smile. "Let me take care of you." he muttered slyly.

"What about what you said?" I whispered.

He raised an eyebrow at me.

"You said you missed what you had with Jenna, Karl... That's not something I'm willing to forget."

"No, I said I missed the life I had with Jenna, I meant in financial terms. Things were a lot better financially, at least then I didn't have to worry about losing a dream I just started.... None of that has anything to do with how I feel about us, you probably haven't noticed but I'm crazy about you, and I mean crazy, crazy, crazy." he slurred and began peppering kisses on legs, moving up my thighs.

I shook my head at him and chuckled, before reaching and weaving my hand through his hair again. I missed this, we've almost forgotten how it felt to be at peace with each other, leaning I planted my lips to his again.

He reached and straddled me so I was on top of him, I giggled and tangled my hands in his hair, he started kissing down my neck, having me moaning when we both heard a knock.

"Karl, I need your help." Came Jenna's loud voice from the other side of the door.

"Is she for real?!" I cursed.

"Please, it's really urgent..." she added. I glared daringly at Karl, having him leaning back and staying quiet with me. "Look, I know I'm interrupting baby-making but this is important. I need to get to the store and my car is acting up."

Karl raised an eyebrow at me, hiding his laugh and I mouthed a No, leaning back to kiss him.

We start to make out again not hearing anything for a while. We thought she had left when suddenly Karl's ringtone boomed the room, followed by his caller ID ringer.

"Shit!" Karl cursed under his, having me laughing.

"I can hear your phone ringing." She added and we surged into more laughter, "You know what never mind."

Karl sighs and gives me a pleading look.

"Give me a minute!" Karl yelled back, having me smacking his chest, "Come on, she needs help, it might be important...." he leaned and kissed me, going to get ready.

I sat up, the sheets falling down to my waist and watched him get ready for a while before waving in, "Do you know if she's on any medications?"

He stops and turns to me,

"What's that supposed to mean Delilah?"

"I mean if she's on any meds."

"Delilah!" He snapped.

"Why are you getting defensive?" I shot at him, "I'm just asking if she's on any treatment."

"No, you are saying she might be unstable?"

"I'm just worried, that's all." I tell him. He sighs and pulls on a shirt, "Can you somehow ask her?"

"Delilah...I'm not asking Jenna if she's on meds. It's the same thing as asking if she's crazy or insane. Why are you being melodramatic?"

I scoffed,

"I seem to recall that just a few days ago, you seemed to be worried about the same thing." I reminded him, "Look.." I paused and sighed, "I just feel very unsafe right now."

"She's not insane."

I don't see how any sane person would agree to live in the same house with their ex and the woman he cheated on her with, it's insane and unheard of.

There's more to this, but Karl is too nice, or too guilty to ask her to leave or see how awkward this is for the both of us.

Uncovered, I got out of bed and made it to him, whispering. "I'm well aware of my rights here Karl. you're not the one who almost got killed by her...to be honest, I'm not comfortable with her being in this house anymore, I want her gone. I haven't slept or eaten anything for days.. I don't know how long I can live like this...Okay, I understand this is in Massey's best interest but I live in this house too and I'm fucking scared of her, that woman is dangerous." I gritted.

"Karl?" Came her cringing voice again.

Karl's eyes snapped towards the door and then at me, "Jenna will be out in a week, just try and hold on till then, okay?" he leaned and kissed me before making his way out of the door.

I sighed and ran my hand through my hair. It's like I'm losing my mind and he doesn't see what I'm seeing. Anyway, pushing the thoughts away, I went to hit the shower and when I got out. I find Massey ransacking through the drawers like some thief in her uniform.

I chuckled and leaned back against the wall,

"It's not there.." I muttered, having her startling. "Why don't you just ask?"

She adjusted herself, muttering. "I don't know what you are talking about."

"You're looking for your phone, it's not here.."

"Whatever.." She rolled her eyes and turned to leave.

"By the way I got your little stunt and I wanted you to know that it's going to take more than a stunt like that to drive a wedge between your father and me."

She scoffed and left.

I huffed frustratedly.

Everyone in this house has gone nuts.
