Chapter 18

Delilah

After my grieving period was over, I pulled myself together and went to find employment,

I had to work, I couldn't live off Caleb for the rest of my life, he says he doesn't mind, but it's obvious he's just being nice.

"I hope I'm not late?" I asked Kay.

He had offered me a spot at the club and I remember telling him I would give it a thought for the month runs out,

"I kept the spot open for you, I had a feeling you would come to your senses." He shifted the contract in front of him, to me, "Sign and it's yours." Everything was moving to fast suddenly,

"So you agree on 50/ 50?" I asked optimistically.

He laughed mocking,

"You wish, 80/20 and that's me being very generous."

"That's way too little." I was offended. How could I go from being a high paid lawyer to earning so little.

"You can be in charge of the staff, and of course ensuring the customers are satisfied." He said emphasizing on satisfaction, I was starting to think It was a bad idea, agreeing to work with Kay again. "You will be doing half of the job, which is fair on my side."

"And, what would you be doing sir?"

"Drinking champagne and bossing you around, what other better way to live?"

I shook my head with an eye roll before picking up the pen to sign through.

"Hey, you should read it first?"

"I don't have the time." I signed all the right pages and shifted it back to him,

He laughed shortly, "What sort of lawyer just signs without reading?"

"The broke kind..." I muttered in a whisper, I spent all my saves on the house and now I don't have a penny to my name, how could I have been so stupid?

I sighed and inhaled my frustrations,

"I should go now, I would begin on Monday, at least then I would have gone through the website and everything-" I got up to leave.

"Wait-" He stopped me.

I looked at him with a teary eyes,

"Delilah, I hope this won't be a problem?"

I raised an eyebrow at him, clueless.

"Del, I know you and Karl broke up. You had purposely forgotten to mention it."

"I didn't know I had to fill you in about my personal life." I snapped sharply, and then sighed at the tone of my voice, "Look, I'm okay, don't worry."

"I'm not, I just don't want this to affect our contract."

"It won't, anything else?"

"Yeah, one last thing....you and I won't be a problem with me right?"

"I don't understand?" I stared at him confused.

"In a way, I'm going to be your boss and not to brag or anything but I'm a sort of an irresistible looking man." I scoffed and shook my head as he rested his back on his twirling chair, a mischievous smirk playing on each side of his lips, "I just don't want you falling head over heels in love---"

"Fuck you, Kay--" I didn't wait for him to finish and stormed out of the door. I could hear him laughing as I walked away, he was such a dutche and fucking annoying, I thought he had changed but clearly not.

I groaned, spurring outside in anger when I noticed someone familiar walking a bulldog,

"Ben?" I exclaimed.

He grinned noticing me,

"Wow, this is going to sound really funny but I was just thinking about you." He said as he made his way to me.

I smiled,

"It's so nice to see you."

He pulled me into a hug,

"How long as it been?" I pulled away to look at him, "You just disappeared and I thought you were avoiding me, until I heard from father you were suspended. What happened?"

"Yeah, that's a long story... I really don't want to get into that, I'm just so happy to see you, God! You look fucking amazing."

I grinned,

He checked his time and cursed,

"Shit, I'm late....Del, I need to hurry, but can I take you out for lunch sometime or later, that's if you don't mind?"

"Yeah, sure." I gave him my phone and he filled in his number.

"It's really nice to see you, Delilah." He gave me my phone back,

"You too."

He pulled me into a hug and with that he was on his way.
