Chapter 16

“I’ll be right back.” With a firm step I go to the toilet, Luca’s gaze doesn’t leave me all the way. When I close the door behind me, I breathe deep and try to calm down. I go to the sink and wash my face with cold water, trying to freshen up. All of a sudden, I hear a knock on the door.

“It’s me.” I hear Anna’s voice.

I open the door and she enters the door, closing the door. “Are you all right?” She asks worriedly.

“Yes, I just wanted to take a break.” I say looking at her. “When are you going to tell them?” She asks while crossing her hands.

“I thought and decided that it would be best if I didn’t tell them anything, first I’d try to fix it myself. Luca has enough of his own problems.” I say by lowering my eyes.

She shakes her head without agreeing with me. “I don’t think it’s fair. He’ll be mad if you don’t tell him and he’ll learn from someone else.” She says pointing her finger at me.

“How can he find out if no one knows, only you and me... Wait... Are you going to tell him?” I’m asking because I can’t believe it.

“Yes, I will not allow you to risk your life! You’re not alone, we care about you, and together we can come up with something. I wasn’t with you and I didn’t help you when your mother was violently against you. But this time I’m not going to stand in the corner and watch you martyr!” She shouts and opens the door behind which I notice Luca standing, with his crossed arms and an unreadable expression.

She looks at me over her shoulder and walks out, leaving us alone in this little room.

Luca enters the bathroom and closes the door, slowly walking toward me while I slowly scroll back. All of a sudden, I feel like my back is in contact with the wall and I realize I have nowhere to go. When I lower my eyes, I notice his shoes next to me. He puts his long fingers under my chin and raises my face so my eyes look at him.

“Now, you’re going to tell me everything about what Anna was so angry about. When I got into the house, I noticed you were nervous and didn’t tell me. Now, I give you the opportunity to tell me everything, otherwise, I will find out for myself, darling.” She says by looking me in the eye and I see the determination in them.

At this point, I knew I had no other choice. If I don’t tell him, then Anna will do it. It`s better he hears it from me than from another person. With all the courage, I tell him everything with the slightest detail. When I finish talking, I look at him and I see he’s furious.

He squeezes his fists at himself to whiteness, his eyes are full of anger, he looks as if he wants to kill something with his own hands. He kisses my forehead and goes out, and I listen as his steps move away...

It seems that I stood here for hours, when in fact only a few minutes passed. I decided I need to leave, I can’t hide here any longer. The first thing I notice is that we only have girls left in the house. Me, Anna and Sofia.

“Where’s everyone else?” I ask Anna before I sit on the couch. “As I understood you told everything to Luca because he came here all raging, called the guys and they left.”

“Why was Luca so angry?” Sofia asks.

“He’s not angry, darling. He’s just upset when he comes home, everything will be fine.” I say with a smile, trying to calm her down. She nods her head. “Can we watch the movie before we go to bed?” Sofia asks.

It’s been a few hours, when I look at Sofia, I see she’s sleeping on my knees. When I turn the movie off, I take her on my hands and take her to her room. I lay her down and cover her, and I kiss her forehead and wish her a good night. I get down the stairs and go to the kitchen. “I’m going to go, I cleaned everything. So you can go rest.” Anna says with a smile.

“Thank you.” I’m going to escort her and say goodbye, I’m going to my room and Luca, and I’m going to go to bed. I’ve been lying in bed for a few more hours waiting for Luca, looking at the clock, and I see it’s midnight. I need to try to fall asleep, but my thoughts keep turning about him, whether he’s safe or he’s healthy.

Half an hour later, my eyes begin to soak up. Then I feel like a strong hand wraps around my waist and pulls me to a warm chest. Trying to turn around and look at him, I hear him say. “Sleep, beautiful.” And my mind, listening to his instructions, instantly obeys. I don’t even notice how I fall asleep.
