The Hunt

Roman's POV

I woke up alone. I knew she would freak out and bail on me. I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face. She really thought that I was just going to forget about this. She had another thing coming. I was going to track her down and show her what happens when she tries to run from me. There was no going back now.

My phone began to ring with an unknown number on the screen. I answered, "What?"

"This Roman?"

"Who's this?"

"It's Warner's CI, the one you sent the email to."

I sat up in bed and started pulling on my pants. "What? No name?"

"No."

He was starting to irritate me already, but I needed what he had. I pinched my eyes. "When can we meet?"

His voice became a whisper. "I can meet you in half an hour, at the parking garage at Perry and Bentley."

"Black charger. Don't be late." I hung up without waiting for a response. I guess I'll have to catch up to my little gazelle later.

I'm waiting in my car in this fucking parking garage waiting on this goddamn informant. I lean my head back on the headrest, shutting my eyes. I was still tired from last night.

"Hey!"

I jumped from my position on alert. "What the fuck!"

Some white dude in a black hood was bent down, peering through the window. He looked around like someone was following him. "Are you going to open the fucking door?"

I unlocked the door and he slipped in. He slouched in the seat, blocking his face from the view of the window. "So are you going to tell me your name?"

"No. I usually only work with Warner. I only felt bad for the poor bastard that you asked about."

"Watch your fucking mouth."

He threw up his hands in surrender. "You contacted me. Plus, I know how this usually works. I don't need to be known as a rat and get on the wrong side of the wrong people."

"Just tell me what you know."

"I knew him. He was alright. He worked as a close guard for Demetrius, moved up the ranks really quickly. He never took advantage of the girls like the rest of those fuckers."

"Where do you fit in all this?"

"Not your concern."

"How do I trust anything you're telling me?"

"Not my concern."

"So what happened?"

"Demetrius got a call that night about someone trying to sell in his territory. He wanted to send one of his best guards so he sent him. He left and didn't come back. Next thing we knew, he was dead. Overdose. The crazy thing is he never did drugs, not that I saw. In this line of work, once you start using, you lose the need to be discreet. I don't know what happened to him, but I don't believe that he overdosed. Something just doesn't make sense."

"That all?"

"No. That night, he was different. He was nervous. He always kept it cool, but he was so tense. Something was eating at him." I let his words marinate in my head. I knew he didn't overdose, but what was bothering him so much.

Nathan, what did you get yourself into.

After leaving the informant, I realized I was no closer to figuring out what happened to my brother than I was before. I needed to find out who made that call to Demetrius.

I pull up outside of Kyle's bookstore. I knew she would try to use work as an excuse to avoid me. I parked on the side of the building. As luck would have it, she came out of the side door carrying boxes to the recycling. Her short hair was pulled up into a ponytail, the wind blowing strands loose. I hurriedly jumped out of the car before she could make her way back inside. I stood behind her with my arms folded while she threw the last of the boxes in there.

She turned around and gasped, grabbing at her chest. "You scared the fuck out of me! What are you doing here?"

"Why'd you leave this morning?"

She blushed and pulled at her fingers. She always did that when she was nervous. "I-I had to work."

"Did you now?"

"Y-yes."

"Hmm. I think you're lying."

She put up her defensive wall. "Who cares what you think?"

"Oh really?"

"Yes. Really." Oh, she was in trouble. She tried to walk past me, but I grabbed her arm and pulled her behind the building. I pushed her against the brick building leaning in close to her. Her chest picked up pace when I touched the strap of her dress. She watched my hand until I stopped moving. I licked my lips remembering what she tasted like and the way she moaned when I was deep inside her. She looked in my eyes.

"Why do you insist on pissing me off?"

"What happened yesterday is never happening again. We were high and it got out of hand. It's done. It's over. I won't tell anyone and you don't tell-" I picked her up, wrapping her legs around my waist. She yelped, placing her hands on my shoulder.

She overthinks entirely too much.

"What are you doing!"

"Shutting you up." I kissed her neck, biting the place I knew weren't tagged by my mark, yet. I ground my hard shaft against her pussy.

"No, no, no. Put me down. We're not doing this. This isn't a thing. I had to put on so much makeup to hid all the hickeys you left on me. I had to lie to my friends about where I was. I'm lucky Ryan didn't kill me!"

"Emery, shut up. You can blame it on us being high or whatever helps you feel better. You and I both know it much more than that. You want me as much as I want you." I slowly reached under her dress, crawling fingers up her thigh. She shuddered under my touch. "You agreed to be mine and I'm holding you to it."

I slipped a finger past her panties, rubbing them on her slick folds then slipping a finger inside of her. "Ro-Roman. Ahhh."

"That's it, baby. Say my name." She closed her eyes and pulled at the hair at the nape of my neck. I loved it when she did that. I used my thumb to rub her nub while pumping my fingers in and out of her. She muffled her moans by biting her lip. "Come."

Her legs began to shake. "Roman!" she panted. "I'm coming!"

Her juices soaked my hand. She breathed heavily, leaning her head back against the brick building. I smiled at how sated she looked. I leaned forward and kissed her lips hard so she can remember me every time she touched them, licked them, or bit her bottom lip the way I adored. I bit at he earlobe, whispering in her ear, "See, only I can do this for you. Only I can make you feel this good."

"Emery! You out here?"

Her eyes grew wide at the sound of Kyle's voice. "Ye-Yeah. I'm on a call. I'll be in in a minute."

"Okay. Can you grab a couple of those crates before you come in?"

"Sure thing." She listened for the door to close. She took a deep breath. "Can you put me down?"

I placed her feet back on the ground while we stared into each other eyes. I stuck my fingers that were soaked in her juices into my mouth, savoring her taste. Her face turned red. I pecked her lips. "I'll see you at home."

She just nodded her head at me. I knew she was kicking herself for giving in to me again. I was going to make it worth it for her. I was still hard, but I didn't want to fuck her outside. Hopefully, she just accepts that this is happening.

I left her to collect herself. My phone rang as I got in my car. It was the same number from earlier. I rushed to answer just in case he remembers something else. "Yeah?"

No answer.

"Hello?"

There were some scratching noises and then I heard talking. "I swear I didn't say anything. I didn't know anything anyway." It was Warner's CI.

"Too bad. Everything you did was in vain."

"Wait-"

There were five gunshots. My heart flooded with fear and guilt. They found out he talked to me. The shit is hitting the fan.
