Chapter Sixteen

Preston's POV

After third period was over, I walked Adrien down to his English class. I gave him a quick kiss just as we reached the classroom, and as we pulled apart, a few of his classmates started whistling and giving playful winks just before they walked past us into the classroom. I laughed, a smirk on my face when Adrien's cheeks turned bright red.

"I'll see you after class," I said to him. Adrien smiled, biting his lip.

"Yea, see you," He replied. Just before he walked into class, I gave him one last peck on the cheek and then headed back down the hallway. I passed the crowd of students, travelled down the stairwell and headed to the gym.

I was still hella curious as to why he and Asher skipped their morning classes. It just didn't make sense to skip the whole morning just to work on homework. Adrien's been my best friend for ten years, I can tell when he's hiding something from me. Hell, he and Asher were definitely keeping something. But I trusted Adrien to talk to me eventually about it so I didn't bother to intervene.

"Ayeee, there he is! Wassup Preston!" Lucas called out to me as I entered the change room. I glanced over to where he was standing with Carter, Kade, and a few others as they changed into their gym clothes.

"Hey Lucas," I greeted. I unlocked my locker, and grabbed my gym clothes, starting to strip out of my shirt and jeans.

"We have football practice after school. You coming?" Pierce spoke up. He was a central midfielder on our football team and a good one at that. We had a pretty talented team this year and I wasn't just saying that to brag. Between my freshman and sophomore years in high school, our team was trash and barely ever won a game.

I cursed, "shit, I forget about practice. Yea, I'll be there."

"Has Adrien been distracting you, Preston?" Carter laughed, a smirk on his face. I scoffed, pulling on my gym shirt and shorts.

"And what if he is? Got a problem?" I asked. I turned around to face Carter, arms crossed over my chest. Carter raised a brow at me, a diverted look on his face. He shrugged.

"Well...you don't want to have yourself distracted, do you? It's the final game before playoffs. I don't think your team would be too happy if you lost because you were distracted over your boyfriend. Is that ass just too good?"

I narrowed my eyes at him, "can you not? And since when you do care? You're not even on the team."

"Since I've been part of this school," Carter said. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Oh, yea? You've been making comments about Adrien since I started dating him. What are you, jealous?"

"Jealous? Hah, no. Why would I be jealous?" Carter smirked. He had a taunting look in his eyes, and it was starting to annoy me. Actually, everything about Carter annoyed me. He was an asshole and I wanted to punch him in the face.

I took a step forward. Pierce quickly stepped between us, extending his arms out to keep us both a distance from each other, "okay, seriously guys. You both need to stop. Especially you, Carter. Stop being a dick. It's getting annoying."

Carter raised his hands in surrender, "I'm not the one who gets irritated easily. Come on, I was just kidding around."

"You're not being funny. You think I'm not going to get mad when you keep talking about my boyfriend?" I glared.

"You just can't take a joke," Carter laughed. I didn't say anything. My blood boiled from his obnoxious personality. It took everything in me not to punch him in the face. Instead, I gave him a threatening stare, slammed my locker shut, and walked out of the change room. On the way out, I texted Adrien and let him know that I had football practice, so I wouldn't be able to walk home with him.

Carter was the definition of obnoxious. He was a cocky asshole. He was captain of the rugby team, and I didn't understand how anyone was able to tolerate him — then again, almost everyone on the rugby team were assholes. I set my water bottle onto the bench and sat down, pulling my phone back out to text Adrien again.

__________

[Preston King]: Care to get me out of gym class and put me out of my misery?

[Adrien<3]: Care for me to ask why?

[Preston King]: Mr. King of assholes Carter is being a dick, and I wanna cuddle the shit out of you.

[Adrien<3]: Is that so? What did he do now?

[Preston King]: He's just being a pain in the ass, nothing new.

[Preston King]: I want to cuddle the shit out of you to relieve stress but now I have football practice >:(

[Adrien<3]: Haha, well...when you get home from practice I can help you relieve stress with more than just cuddling.

[Preston King]: Oh, is that so? How will you do that?

[Adrien<3]: You know...it involves the two of us naked. In our bed.

[Preston King]: Mmm, that does sound intriguing. Does this activity involve you lying on your back, or perhaps in my lap?

[Adrien<3]: Both.

[Preston King]: Well...babe. I will look forward to this activity.

[Adrien<3]: You should. Because I'll make it worth your while ;) <3

[Adrien<3]: Now get off your phone before your teacher yells at you.

______________

I let out a chuckle and set my phone onto the bench. Of course he would tease me only to end the conversation like that. But now, I was even more eager to get football practice over with. I got up from the bench as our phys-Ed teacher walked into the gym, and he made us sit around on the floor while he did attendance and told us today's activities. Basically, we would do a group workout before ending the last half hour with volleyball.

And when everyone stood up and hurried off to grab weights and a mat from storage, I was stopped when I heard my name, and a hand lay on my shoulder.

"Preston!" Kade's voice called in my ear. I stopped and turned to face him, my eyebrow raised. He flashed me a light smile.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked him. Kade shrugged, letting out a small sigh as we both walked over to the storage area.

"Nothing, I just...wanted to apologize for Carter's behaviour," Kade murmured.

"Why are you apologizing for him? You didn't do anything. It's all him," I shook my head.

Kade frowned, "I don't know...because we're both on the rugby team and I'm one of his best friends, I feel responsible for his behaviour in a way."

"Well, you aren't," I sighed, "don't apologize for his behaviour. But anyways, enough of him. Are you joining us for lunch on Monday? Kourtney was a bit bummed you couldn't make it today."

"Oh, yea! I'll definitely join you guys for lunch on Monday," Kade nodded with a smile. I smirked at him, patting his back before grabbing a 25 pound bar, and a yoga mat.

"Good, cause if you hurt my friend's feelings...you'll be dealing with me."

"Well it's a good thing I like her," He laughed. I laughed as well, and once we had our equipment, we headed back inside the gym, and set our mats down in a big circle formation.

Adrien's POV

When the final bell rang, I said goodbye to Joseph as we exited class, and headed down to my locker. Asher was supposed to be meeting me, and luckily, Preston had texted me letting me know he had football practice, so Asher and I could go talk to my mom without him getting curious about it.

By the time I was shrugging on my coat and finished putting away my books into my locker, Asher had made his way over. I closed my locker and flashed him a sweet smile, and he returned the gesture. He had his hands in his pockets, bag shrugged over his shoulder.

"Preston has football practice, so you don't have to worry about him finding out," I said. Asher instantly looked relieved, his shoulders slumping.

"Oh...thank god," Asher groaned. I laughed lightly, slipping my bag over my shoulder.

"Yea, so come on, let's go talk to my mom."

Asher and I walked out of the school. The air was cold and there was a heavy breeze. We headed back to Preston and I's place, and once we got there, I walked up the front porch. I unlocked the door and stepped inside, Asher following suit.

I heard the sound of Kodey barking, and a few short seconds later, he was hurrying into the mudroom, body shaking in excitement. I laughed and crouched down. I wrapped my arms around him and ran my fingers through his fur, lastly placing a kiss on the top of his head. I smiled as he bopped his nose against my face and tried to lick me.

"You know...it's kinda weird. I'm so used to you and Preston living in separate houses. Now, you both live at Preston's," Asher said. I stood up off the floor, rubbing Kodey's head. Asher took a moment to pet Kodey as well.

"Yea, it was kind of weird at first. But I kind of picture it as a permanent sleepover," I chuckled.

Asher smirked, "Yea, and you never have to ask to hang out cause you live together. You guys get to have all the sex you want!"

"Asher!" A heavy blush coated my cheeks. Asher started laughing, placing his hand on his stomach as he leaned back slightly in laughter.

"What? It's true! If I was living with Daniel, I'd ride him every chance I got. Do your parents know you two are dating?"

I narrowed my eyes at him. He had a cheeky grin on his face. I paused and let out a heavy sigh, shrugging my shoulders, "we haven't told them yet. We've kind of kept it to ourselves. So I don't know if they figured it out or not."

Asher hummed. I dropped my bag onto the bench and kicked off my shoes, before heading to the kitchen. Asher followed behind me. My mom was currently in the kitchen, a fresh batch of white chocolate muffins sitting on the counter cooling off while she put her dishes into the dishwasher. Our cats Ruby and Shelby were with her, the two of them sitting on the floor by her feet.

When she noticed us, her face instantly lit up, and she stood straighter, "oh hello! Asher, I haven't seen you in a while! How are you?"

"I'm good, Ms. Aguilera. How are you?" Asher asked with a smile.

"Oh, just call me Meghan! And I'm good thank you! Are you just here to hang out?" Mom asked.

"Actually, we need to talk to you about something," I replied. Mom raised a brow at me. She leaned her hip against the counter and crossed her arms.

"Sure, what is it, hun?"

"Asher's pregnant," I told her. Her gaze instantly softened, "and he can't tell his dad about it. But he needs to see a doctor...so I was wondering if we could take him to see one?"

"Of course, we can do that," She nodded. She turned her gaze to Asher. He was biting his lip nervously, ringing his fingers together, "it's okay sweetie. I know it's a lot to handle. I was in the same boat your age. I have a good friend of mine who is an Ob-gyn. I can call her and ask if she can squeeze you in."

"T-thank you..." Asher murmured. His breath was shaky. He looked like he was about to cry again, so my mom stepped over and wrapped her arms around him.

"It's going to be okay hun, just take a deep breath," Mom pulled back and placed her hands on his shoulders. Asher nodded and took a deep breath. Mom smiled at him, squeezed his shoulder before she grabbed her phone off the counter and got calling.

My mom talked on the phone for a few minutes. Asher was standing quietly, biting his thumbnail, his arm wrapped around himself in a hug. I placed my hand on his back and rubbed gently. When my mom finally got off the phone several minutes later, I turned my gaze back to her.

"She said she can squeeze you in. We can head out now, and she'll be waiting for us when we get there," Mom said. I nodded my head.

"Okay, thanks mom."

"No problem sweetie, now let's get going," She smiled. She kissed my cheek and started walking to the mudroom. Asher and I followed, and while we put back on our shoes and coats, my mom was grabbing her coat and car keys.

We eventually headed out and got into the car, Asher sitting in the back seat. My mom drove us to the health clinic. Half an hour later, she pulled into the parking lot of the building. When I glanced back at Asher he looked ready to puke. I smiled reassuringly at him before I got out of the car and helped him out as well.

Asher stayed close to me and my mom as we walked inside the health clinic. We headed down the hallway where the Ob-gyn's office was. When we got there, there were a few queens sitting in the waiting room. We followed my mom inside as she walked up to the receptionist's desk.

"Hi, we have an appointment booked for Asher Wolfe?" My mom said to the receptionist. After Asher showed her his health card, and was asked a couple of questions, she signed him in for his appointment. Then, we were told to sit in the waiting area until we were called.

"Fuck...I don't know if I can do this," Asher groaned. He leaned over in the chair he was sitting in, head hanging in his hands. I glanced at him and frowned, placing a hand onto his back.

"Yes, you can...just take a deep breath. It'll be okay."

Asher shook his head. He inhaled and exhaled slowly, sitting up straighter. He bit his lip, tapping his foot against the floor, "I don't know....it's just. If I hear their heartbeat...it'll seem all too real. I don't know if I can handle it."

"You're not alone in this, okay? You have me, Daniel, Preston, Phoebe...everyone. We're all here for you. And whatever decision you decide in this, we'll all be here to support you," I pulled him towards me, and wrapped my arms around him.

"Thank you for being here...Adrien. It means a lot me," Asher murmured. I smiled softly and rubbed my hand up and down his back.

"You don't need to thank me. I'll always be here for you, no matter what."
