Chapter 6 - A Mutual Longing

Jennie POV

The next few weeks were much better. Jimin found it in his heart to forgive me and we were back to normal. Jimin and I spent most of our days comfortably together. Yoongi continued to live with Jimin and we even shared meals sometimes although he wouldn’t make eye contact with me. He was very respectful making sure our mistake would not happen again. He mostly kept to his room when he was home and Jimin and I didn’t speak about our problem again. It was frustrating seeing him act so cold towards me but I understood we couldn’t just be friends.

After a while, I didn’t see Yoongi at all. It was like he was avoiding us. I missed the music that was always coming from his room. I missed sharing meals with him and Jimin. Yoongi was gone and I could only guess why. I finally asked Jimin if he had heard from him when he didn’t come home yet again.

“Did Yoongi move out?”

“No, his stuff is still here,” Jimin replied.

“You haven’t heard from him at all?” I was starting to get worried as was Jimin.

“No, text him. Check to see if he’s okay.” He asked.

Yoongi answered that he was staying with Rapmon cause they were working on a project together.

“Oh, okay. We were worried about you.”

“I’m fine, thanks.” He replied.

But he wasn’t fine. A few days later Jimin got a call from a bar asking him to pick up Yoongi because he was passed out drunk after getting in a fight. Luckily the bartender knew him and didn’t call the cops.

When we got there Yoongi was slouched in a chair his pale cheek red and starting to bruise. He looked dazed and lost. I asked the bartender for some ice for his face and waited while Jimin found out what happened and paid his bill. I gently put the ice on his cheek as he looked up at me. He looked so vulnerable and thin my heart was aching. I wanted to hug him and make him happy again. I was falling in the trap again. There was something about him I just couldn’t resist. I realized I couldn’t be around him without feeling for him.

Jimin said, “let’s go,” and we helped Yoongi to the car. I rode in the back with Yoongi and asked him if he was okay. He just stared at me as I gently applied the ice.

“The bartender said you’ve been getting drunk every day. Why?” I asked.

He looked down but didn’t say anything.

“Why did you get into a fight?” I asked.

“I’ve been partying. What do you care?” He said slurring his words.

“I do care about you and so does Jimin. We thought you were staying with Rapmon.” I said.

“I want to sleep.” He whined. “With you,” he whispered.

My eyes shot up to his as he grabbed my cold hand in his warm one intertwining our fingers.

He pulled me closer and leaned his head on me closing his eyes. He smelled of alcohol and cigarettes but it still felt so good to have him close to me. I looked at the rearview mirror and saw Jimin’s eyes looking at me. I said to him, “We should stop and get a hangover remedy.”

“I’ll drop you off first and I’ll walk to the convenience store. I don’t want him throwing up in the car.” Jimin said.

Jimin pulled Yoongi out of the car and carried him piggyback into the apartment as I followed. He dropped him on the bed and started pulling off his shoes and then pulled down the jeans from his skinny legs. Jimin paused and looked at me. I turned around and tried not to look at Yoongi.

He helped the drunk Yoongi to the shower and turned on the water to Yoongi’s protest getting them both wet in the struggle. I hoped this would help him sober up. Jimin was having a hard time and asked me to hand him a robe and towels. Once Yoongi was covered, I helped Jimin dry his hair with a towel. Yoongi laid down on the bed still in the robe and I covered him with the blanket.

While Jimin changed and left to get the remedy from the store, I went in to check on Yoongi. I thought this might be a good time to ask him what was wrong because when sober he was avoiding me.

I sat on the bed next to him and whispered, “Tell me why you’re sad.”

He opened his eyes and gently touched my face and simply said, “I miss you and it’s killing me.”

“I miss you too,” I said. I got closer and kissed his cheek. My heart was aching and longing for him. He looked like he was going to cry.

To himself, he said, “I must be dreaming again. You hate me.” His voice trailed off.

My sight was blurry from the tears that were forming. “I don’t hate you. I just don’t want you to come between Jimin and me again. I can’t hurt him again.”

“What about me? Every kiss you give him breaks my heart.” Just then Yoongi looked up and noticed Jimin at the door. Being the troublemaker that he is he pulled me close and kissed me hard on the lips for Jimin to see.

Jimin dropped the bag he was carrying and ran out. I pushed Yoongi off and went after Jimin but I was too late. Jimin had locked himself in his room.

“Jimin please open the door. Yoongi is drunk and self-destructive. He didn’t mean it.” I shook the doorknob as I pleaded. I waited desperately at the door but he wouldn’t talk to me. Jimin, open the door we need to talk. I’m not leaving.”

He opened the door and icily stared at me. “What’s your excuse? You’re not drunk.”

“I don’t need one cause I haven’t done anything. I was just asking him why he is sad and drinking so much.”

“Does he love you?” He said in such a low whisper I barely heard him.

“No, I don’t know.” But even if he does it wouldn’t matter because I love you. I will stay away from him I promise. Let’s go to bed now I’m so drained. We can talk to him tomorrow when he is sober.”

Jimin turned his back and walked towards the bed. I followed Jimin to the bed and cuddled next to him wrapping my arms around him. He let me hold him but he was still angry and didn’t touch me. I laid there sadly closing my eyes but not my thoughts and I longed for Yoongi’s lips on mine.
