Chapter Five

“Are you completely stupid? You put yourself in danger again! But this time you went even further and locked Damien in the safe room!” Taylor shouted at me.

“At least he was safe” I answered.

“Samantha! This isn’t a joke, you’re compulsive and hot headed! You need to reign it in, you’re a mother now! You have to think of someone other than yourself!”

“Are you kidding me?! I never do things for me, it’s always for everyone else! What about this situation screams I was doing it for me?! I went down to help Jayden, I locked Damien in to keep him safe for YOU!” I shouted at him.

“You’re a fucking idiot” He sighed, slumped on the sofa.

“I’m sorry” I sat next to him as he slowly placed his arm around me.

“You can’t put yourself in danger anymore Sam”

“It finds me, I don’t go looking for it most of the time”

“You don’t exactly help the situation. Five more minutes in the panic room and we would have been there to get Jayden ourselves” He said.

“Five more minutes and he could have been shot”

The rest of the day went the same way, I was scolded by the boys and then forgiven within minutes as the hugged me tight to them as I apologised to all of them.

“Go to bed, tomorrow we will celebrate Tom’s life” Tobias ordered as one by one everyone left.

I walked up stairs saying good night to them all.

“Hey Kitten” Jayden said as I got to the top of the stairs.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” I asked looking at his bruised face.

“Pretty rough, but I’m glad you didn’t get hurt” He said.

“I’ve been through the ring I know what I’m doing” I smile slightly.

“Do you? I’m pretty sure you’re winging it” he smirks.

“I have to keep everyone on their toes, or I become predictable”

“You certainly aren’t predictable, you’re brave, strong, funny, smart and beautiful, but at the same time you’re such a pain in the ass. Going right into the middle of a dangerous situation, you can’t do that anymore” He sighs.

“I know, the little ones” I place a hand on my stomach.

“Not for just them, for all of us. None of us want to lose you, you’re too important” He says as he walks up to me and places a lose strand of hair behind my ear.

“What’s going on here?” Brian walks out his bedroom as Jayden quickly steps backwards.

“Nothing, I was just telling her she’s a pain in the ass. Now go to bed, good night” Jayden said before rushing into one of the guest rooms that he now claimed as his own.

“Sam? I know you were having trouble with Tom before he died, but he literally just died, little early for you to start liking someone new isn’t it?” Brian looked angry.

“I don’t like him like that. He’s an asshole anyway” I groaned.

“Be sure it stays that way” He utters.

“It’s none of your business who I date anyway Brian” I call back as he was about to go in his room.

“I don’t want to see you hurt, any more than you already are Sam, seriously, focus on the kids, not on boys. Good night Sam” he said walking off.

I slowly walk into my room it was dark and lonely.

I got changed into some pyjama shorts and vest, laying on my cold sheets, but my mind kept drifting to Tom and then Bradley, I couldn’t get my brain to switch off.

For hours I laid there, unable to sleep before I finally gave up, I needed a hug, but who?

I knocked on the door and crept in.

“Can I sleep next to you? I don’t want to be on my own” I ask

“Of course you can” They answered as I slipped into bed and drifted off to bed.
