“What’s been happening then? For the past two months?”
“Nothing really,” Julian shrugged as I was still leaning against him, getting the slice of apple one after the other. “Well, detectives have been in and out of our lives. Jasper’s got himself a girlfriend. Janice is as annoying as ever. I thought I was dying again.”
“You’re okay though,” I said, looking at him and noticing just how much this affected him. “Hey,” I whispered, moving my hands to his cheeks.
“I’m sorry. It’s just been hard,” he whispered and I nodded softly.
“But I’m okay,” I replied and kissed him softly, “you’re okay too. If anything, I should be the emotional and overwhelmed one. Because, you know, I’m the worlds’ most emotional girl?” I said and he smirked a little and looked down as he cut off another slice, “and you can’t be sad while looking like this,” I said as I tangled my fingers in his hair. He laughed softly and shifted so he was laying against the bed on his back, his shoulder against mine.
“I’ve just missed you a lot.”
“I know,” I replied, taking the slice and biting it. “You going to be feeding me forevermore now?”
“I wouldn’t mind it if it was as easy as this,” he replied and I smirked and finished it off. I took the next slice and put it to his lips. He paused before he took it. I let him have it all as I grimaced at the sideburns growing.
“How long has it been since you shaved? Or showered?”
“Rosie, I had a girlfriend to watch over,” he replied and I laughed softly and kissed his cheek, “I love you,” he said before he kissed my lips softly. I smiled against it.
“I love you too,” I whispered back as I pulled away, “but I don’t appreciate kissing a prickle bush.”
“Fine! I’ll shave when we get home.”
“They won’t let me go for another few days, right?” I asked slowly and he shrugged, cut me another slice. I took it and bit it as I heard yelling from down the corridor.
“Oh dear,” Julian muttered as I laughed a little.
“Room 1103! Lo-Lo, I found it!” I heard Ruben yell before they were both running in, “Rosie!”
“Why are you in a different room?” Logan asked while Ruben hugged me tightly.
“They moved her here last night because someone else needed the bigger one. Something like that,” Julian replied to Logan and I groaned a little to Ruben to let go.
“It’s so good to see you awake!” He smiled as he leaned his cheek on mine and held his phone out. I gasped at my reflection and took it.
“I look different.”
My face was a lot narrower. Bags were under my eyes. My lips were thin and dry.
“Exactly why the doctor gave you so much food,” Julian replied as Ruben took his phone back, “you’ve been asleep for nine weeks. Eating only what you’d take and that wasn’t much.”
“A-Are you okay?” Logan asked as he hugged me when Ruben walked back and sat down on a chair.
“I’m fine. How are you two?”
“Happy,” he smiled, “everyone’s happy.”
“Yeah, I heard,” I replied and they both laughed a little.
“Everyone’s been wanting updates, you know? We’ve blogged a lot about it, most of them were the same. That you were still asleep but you were better than the last time.” He said and I smiled softly before I looked down when Julian put another slice to my lips. I took it with my hand and bit it as Logan ran a hand through my hair.
“So, you remember anything? Who shot you?” Ruben asked but I shook my head, “anything?”
“I can’t remember anything since the party,” I replied and Logan sat on the edge of the bed next to my legs, “has anything changed for you two?”
“We did a song for you.” Logan said and I smiled softly, “just asking people to pray for you.”
“Can I hear it?” I asked and he shrugged a little, sniffed as he got out his phone. I moved my hand to his hand and held it as he went to our website.
“It’s Thank You Angels, by O’Shea. We got videos and pictures of you for the video,” Ruben said as I sat up and next to Logan to see it loading, “the cover’s not as good as O’Shea but we got a few girls from school to give a hand. A big choir, it was fun.” He said and then it started with Logan’s guitar, nice and solid rhythm.
I actually didn’t know the song but it was really good. It ended with Ruben and Logan explaining how I was in hospital and that they were asking for anyone to pray.
“Um, a lot of people said they didn’t believe in God so they couldn’t pray.” Ruben said and I looked up at him as Logan wiped my tears from my cheeks, “they gave us money instead to help with the doctor fees and then any medication or equipment you might need.”
“What?” Julian asked, “you never told me this.” He said and I laughed a little while crying.
“Well, it’s not yours. It’s Ro-Ro’s,” Ruben replied while Logan was videoing me. I waved a little at the camera before I got off the bed.
“Rosie,” Julian tried but I managed to get my balance and walk to Ruben for a hug.
“First baby steps,” he smirked, moving his arms around me as I sat on his lap.
“Thank you. Both of you. All of you!” I said when I realised Logan was still videoing. He stopped though when Julian hit his arm.
“Let’s do a live chat,” Ruben said, getting his phone out.
“Guys, give her a break,” Julian replied angrily, getting up from the bed, “she needs to be eating.”
“It’s fine,” I told him, taking his hand when he was close enough, “I want to say thank you to everyone and they all deserve to know how I am.”
“You’ve only been awake for an hour, Rosie. They can wait,” he replied but I smiled a little as I shook my head. He hung his head before he looked back at my sympathetically, “baba, we don’t know who shot you-.”
“Stop ruining her day!” Logan exclaimed and I looked at Julian as he bent down in front of me, taking my hands in his.
“We don’t know what will happen if they saw you like this. Alive.”
“Don’t,” I shook my head as tears started.
“Why would you say that?!” Ruben shouted as he hugged me into his chest, “it’s her choice.”
“I know that but I don’t want her to get hurt,” Julian said as I felt his hand on my shoulder. I turned to him and hugged my arms around his neck as I moved down into his lap.
“They’re going to find out anyway,” I replied, “and I’m sure they’ve already told the world, right?”
“Yeah,” Logan sighed as he nodded and moved into the chair next to Ruben. I looked back to Julian and he kissed my forehead softly.
“I just want you to be safe.”
“I am,” I whispered back and he nodded softly, standing.
“I’m going to go call Jasper and Leo, okay?” He asked and I nodded. I watched him made his way out as I turned to Ruben for his phone.
Okay. Hello, World.
