Chapter 14

The rest of the week actually went by pretty smoothly. Both Marcus and Mason have been sharing my bedroom. They sleep on the floor, but this way Mason hasn't had to give Crystal a ride to school. She has also ended up hanging around with, yes you guessed it. Tiffany and her minors. I knew right off the bat that this wasn't going to go well, but what could I actually do? Tiffany had a thing for Marcus and it would seem that Crystal had a thing for Mason.

Once Crystal started to hang with Tiffany. She seemed to back off of Mason some. I guess Tiffany and her friends were more Crystal's type. "So there's a rumor going around." Missy started to say while we were having lunch.

"Really, and what's that?" Marcus asked.

"That the three of you are together." I shot my face up at her. Mason did the same.

"What do you mean?" Marcus asked.

"There's a rumor going around the whole school that you guys are both with Candace and each other." Mason and Marcus looked at each other and then burst out laughing. I didn't find this rumor so funny.

"Where did you hear this?" I asked her.

"I overheard some girls talking about it in class. I told them it wasn't true, but of course, it's easier to believe a lie than the truth."

"Come on Cans, you know its a lie. Dont let it bother you." Mason said. I just shook my head. Marcus got up and took a seat next to me he placed his arm around me. Then I watched as Mason got up and came to my other side and did the same thing.

"Let's give these morons something to actually talk about," Marcus said. I must of look modified as they both started to leave kisses all over my face. I watched as people would walk past us looking at us like we were nuts.

"Would you two stop it," I said.

"What do you care what these people think?" Mason said.

"I dont."

"Then why is it upsetting you?" Marcus asked.

"I dont know. Maybe because it is not true." I said.

"Exactly, so dont let it bring you down. Besides we are the hottest guys in school. You should feel lucky." Mason said.

"Right?" Marcus said and they high five each other and laugh. All I could do was roll my eyes. It wasn't like I didn't know who started this rumor. I mean It could only be one person. Jealousy makes people do ugly things. Missy was laughing this whole time. "Let's do something this weekend. Like camping out or something." Marcus asked.

"I wish I could but I've got this family thing going on," Missy said. I looked at them. It had been a while since I had gone camping with Mason and Marcus.

"I've got to go see Jill today. I haven't been home in a week and she has been blowing up my phone. Once I'm done finding out what she wants. We can take off for the weekend." Mason said. Marcus and I both agreed.

Mason's POV,

I dropped Marcus and Candace off at Candace's home and headed back home to see what the hell Jill wanted with me. I had to admit I hated it when I wasn't with Marcus and Cans. I want time with her and Marcus seemed to be getting the most of it. I had so many other things going on in my life right now. It was hard to focus on Candace. The rumor at school really didn't surprise me. All our years in school. Other kids always wondered if Marcus and I were with Candace. She has no idea how long this rumor has actually been going around. People are going to always talk and Marcus and I have always just blown it off. I pulled up in front of the house only to find Crystal and Tiffany sitting on my front porch. I just rolled my eyes and parked my car.

"You're actually home today?" Crystal said as I tried my best to just walk by them.

"Dont be rude Mason. You could at least say hello." Tiffany said. I looked over at her.

"When I see someone worth saying hello to. Then I will say it." I just rolled my eyes and headed inside. I heard Tiffany say, rude.

"Wait, Mason?" I heard Crystal say behind me. I turned around and faced her.

"What do you want?" I asked her.

"Have I done something wrong? Why are you so rude to me?" She asked. Honestly, she hasn't done anything to me. I just knew what kind of person she was and I didn't really want to entertain her.

"You haven't done anything wrong. I dont mean to be a dick. I have things going on." She moved a little closer to me.

"You should try relaxing some and just hang for a while." She said. I looked at her and just smiled.

"You think I should just kick back with you and Tiffany?" I asked her.

"Or just me."

"First of all, I hate Tiffany. Second of all, I have my own friends." She crossed her arms.

"Mason, your friends are only drawing you down. They have no futures ahead of themselves. You're a rich man with a bright future and they will only bring you down. Candace is not a pretty girl and you should be with a beautiful woman." I went into a fit of laughter. She just stood there watching me.

"Candace is very beautiful." I looked Crystal up and down. "Much sexier then you can ever be. My friends are none of your business and you can worry about yourself." I turned and left her standing there just watching me. Bitch, I said to myself. I found Jill and her sister sitting out by the pool. I walked out there and stopped in front of her. She looked up at me.

"Oh Mason, your finally home."

"What can I do for you, Jill? I'm busy today."She turned and sat up and looked at me.

"Well you haven't been home and I was worried about you. I think you're hanging around with your friends too much and you should be home with your family." What the hell is actually going on right now? I said to myself.

"Jill your not my family. My father has died and he was my family. What do you want from me?"

"I know you think I dont like you Mason but its not true." Yeah, you like me now that I'm rich, I said to myself.

"If you dont have a reason for me to be here. Then I've got plans this weekend and I've got to go."

"I don't think its a good idea for you to be hanging with Candace and Marcus anymore." I burst out laughing.

"Listen to me Jill, I'm only here for six more months. When I turn eighteen, I'm gone and you will never see me again. Understand that!" I snapped at her. I turned and walked off. I went upstairs and grabbed my things and took off. Both Jill and her sister were in the kitchen.

"Mason!" Jill yelled out. I stopped and turned to look at her.

"I don't know what it is your up to Jill, but it won't fucking work. You will get nothing out of me. Stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours." I took off out of the house and Crystal and Tiffany were still on the porch. Crystal hollered out my name but I ignored her and took off. Something was up and the only thing I could think of was they were trying to play nice because of my money. What Jill didn't know that the lawyer talked to me about alone. Was my father had set up a bank account for me. It was around five hundred thousand dollars for me to have access to while I was still a minor. I didn't need Jill for a damn thing. Crystal was nuts if she thought she had even a small chance with me. I raced down the road to get back to the only people I trusted in my whole life. Marcus and Candace were everything to me and I dont think they knew just how much I needed them.

It was only going to be the three of us this weekend. I think it was time we all had a very long talk together. I wanted to be with Candace just as much as Marcus did. I knew she would love me for me and not my money. I knew she would be the perfect woman for me to share my life with, but I had no desire to lose my friendship with Marcus. If Candace was to choose me, no matter how much Marcus and I talked about it. I still had a feeling that things between him and I would change. I dont want to lose them. I didn't know if I could continue to go through this, but would I be okay if I stepped away and just let Marcus have her? Would things be the same? I just didn't know and it was time to have a long talk with them.
