Chapter 2

My plane ride was long and tiring. I was glad when we finally arrived and I didn't have to catch another plane. My cousin Brittany was picking me up from the airport. I haven't seen her since I was eight. It's been almost nine years. My birthday is in July and I haven't missed one with my guys. This was going to be a hard birthday for me. I will be turning seventeen and I share my birthday with my cousin Brittany. My mother and her sister, Brittany's mother. They haven't spoken to each other in years. None of us really know why, but that's how it has been. Brittany and I used to be very close, but then my mother and hers had the falling out and they moved with my grandmother in England.

"Candace!" I heard someone shout. I looked over at this beautiful blond waving her arms at me.

"Brittany?" I said and she came running over to me. "Wow, you look great," I said and she just kind of looked at me.

"Not to be rude or anything cousin but please tell me this is just how you travel?" I looked down at myself and then at her. She smiled at me. "Come on, we will change your look while you're here. I'm so excited to show you off." I had no idea what she was talking about, but I grabbed my bags and followed her out of the airport. She looked like she belonged in California, not England. Marcus and Mason would fall in love with her.

We pulled up to my grandmother's home and this was the first time I had ever been here. My grandma always visited us in the states. My aunt Carla came out onto the porch to greet us. She had a huge smile on her face. "Oh, Candace it's so good to see you." She said as I approached her. She put her arms around me and gave me a big hug.

"Its good to see you too. Hows grandma doing today?" I asked as I followed everyone inside.

"She is in good spirits today. She is so excited to see you." I followed Brittany up the stairs and she showed me to her room. Her room was just how a teenage girl's room should look. She was a lover of the color purple as her room was covered in it. You could say that Brittany was definitely a girl's girl. I was going to be here all summer long so they got me a twin bed to have while I share the room with Britt.

"Were going to have a great summer, Candace. I promise you won't be sad away from home while your here." I smiled at her, but to say the truth all I really missed was Marcus and Mason who by the way have been texting me all day. I set my things down on my bed which had a purple blanket laid on it of course. I pulled my phone out and sent them both a text letting them know I was here safe and sound. Once I got settled in I went to see my grandmother. My grandmother is almost ninth eight years old. We all thought she would make it to be a hundred, but old age is taking its toll on her and the doctors don't think she will make the whole summer. When I was younger and my mother and her sister got along better. My grandmother was a huge part of my life. She has always lived in England and I had been there once or twice. I don't really remember it too much. She has always been a good and loving woman.

"Hello Candace baby, how is my girl?" She asked as I walked into her bedroom. I smiled at her and took a seat on her bed next to her.

"I'm doing good grandma. How are you feeling today?" I asked her.

"I'm alive today, so that's a good thing." She always could make me laugh. "You have turned into a beautiful girl." I blushed as that was not something I heard a lot. "Candace, why do you hide behind yourself?"

"What do you mean grandmother?"

"I mean, I can see you're shy and hide from yourself. You should embrace who you are child and love yourself. You're a beautiful person inside and out."

"Thank you," I said and reached in for a hug. I sat and talked with her for a while and then she fell asleep on me. Brittany came over to the door and I got up and went to her.

"Mom said if you wanted to go out with me tonight you could. I have a party to go to and it will get you out and make some new friends. Do you want to go?"

"I don't know if you can tell or not, but I'm not much of the partier."

"Oh, I can tell, but I just figure since you don't know anyone here. You might be willing to let loose a little. I have a ton of clothes we can go through and if you let me I can give you a small makeover." She said and raised her eyebrows at me. I took a deep breath and then looked back at her.

"Screw it, why not." Brittany started to clap her hands and then she took my hand and we headed back to our bedroom. About an hour in a half later I was looking at my self in the mirror. It didn't even look like me. my hair was washed and curled. I didn't even realize how long it had gotten. It reached the bottom of my butt. My make up was more then I thought it should be but once I saw it. I couldn't help but smile. I did look beautiful. That was the first time I had ever said that about myself. My only problem was I was blind without my glasses and I had to wear them. The only thing I was really worried about now was this tiny short dress she had me in. Hell, who would have guessed I actually had a good body. My breast were at least a c cup and this dress had them pushed up into my chin. If I bend over everyone is going to see my lady business. It also looked too damn good on me as I did a twirl in the mirror.

"So, what do you think?" Brittany asked as she walked into the bathroom.

"I can't believe it's me," I said still looking at myself. If Marcus and Mason could see me now. I thought to myself.

"I would still like to do a could of things to you, but we will have to do it a different day," Brittany said and I wondered what the hell else she had in mind. We both grabbed a coat and headed downstairs. Aunt Carla was in the kitchen doing some cleaning. She turned and looked at us as we entered the kitchen.

"Wow Candace, you look amazing. I'm surprised you let Britt get ahold of you."

"I know right, but she did a good job," I said smiling.

"You know I can take you to see an eye doctor here and we can get you some contacts." I never liked the idea of sticking something in my eyes, But I really liked the idea of being pretty.

"I'd like that," I said and my aunt and Brittany both smiled. Brittany and I ended up getting home a little after midnight. I honestly didn't think I was going to have a good time, but I ended up having a blast. I met so many new people and everyone was really nice. It was a little hard keeping up with the language, but for the most part, people spoke English. I ended up meeting this guy named, Max. Max is eighteen and will be on his way to college this year. I ended up hanging with him a lot at the party. We really got to know each other. He is tall with sandy colored hair and green eyes. We hit it off right away. I wasn't used to a guy paying me so much attention that I ended up eating it up. I mean yes, my two best friends our guys, but they are only my friends. Max was paying me a different kind of attention. He was listing and really enjoying our conversation. It was all very new to me.

I seem to be having a lot of male attention at the party. Brittany has a boyfriend by the name of Kadin and he is a very nice guy. He picked us up and took us to the party. Once I met Max, a friend of Kadin's. Brittany and Kadin ended up disappearing on us for most of the night. I kind of figured I knew what they were off doing, but it was none of my business and I really didn't want to know. So I spent my time getting to know Max and max was being a gentleman.

"So, what do you think of Max?" Brittany asked as we were washing our faces.

"He seems like a good guy," I said.

"He is one of my best friends and he a very decent guy. He seems to like you."

"Yeah, I liked him too, but..."

"But what?"

"Well I go home at the end of the summer and I would really hate to get to close to someone and then have to leave."

"I understand that, but hey at least you guys can be friends." I smiled at her as I tucked myself into my bed and pulled out my phone. I sent Marcus and Mason good night texts and then closed my eyes.
