Flashback to the night after he drops Candace back home...
I drove away while she stood on the sidewalk and watched me. The woman had complete control over me. I was putty in her hands. Just being with her tonight showed me what I had been missing. She just turned my whole world upside down. Now I had to go back to my home and rethink my whole world. The sun was fully up when I pulled into my driveway. Tiffany was sitting on the porch with a cup in her hand. I parked my truck and I just sighed. I could see that she had been crying and now I was only going to make it worse. I pulled my keys out and got out of the truck.
I walked over to her and she looked up at me. "Were you with her?" She asked me. I nodded my head at her. I walked closer to her and took a seat.
"We need to talk," I said to her. "I'm sorry Tiffany but..." She placed her hand on mine.
"don't let her ruin what we have Marcus." She said.
"I'm sorry Tiff, but we really don't have anything. Even if she was still gone. I would have realized this on my own." I saw here tears start to fall.
"I've been everything to you. I take care of you and your mother. I was the one here all night while you were out with her. I was taking care of your mother. I have loved you more then I have loved anyone and now your just going to toss me away like trash."
"It's not like that Tiff and you know it. When was the last time we slept together? When was the last time I told you I loved you? It's not been that way for us in a long time. I have to do what's best and it's not fair to keep you when I don't love you like that. I will always be grateful for what you have done for me and I will always be your friend, but we have to face this has it is."
"Please Marcus, don't let me go."
"I'm sorry Tiffany, but I have to," I said as I got up and went inside. She followed me and that's when she lost it. She fell to her knees and started saying things I was having a hard time understanding. "Tiffany, stop this. It's over and you need to understand that."
"Where am I suppose to go, Marcus?"
"Tiffany, you have your own business you have plenty of money. You figure it out."
"How are you going to tell your mother? You just going to tell her about your whore?"
"You watch your fucking mouth. You don't know anything about her!" I snapped at her. "I'm sorry this is hurting you and I never wanted to hurt you, but I have to do what's right and I don't love you. Now get your things and go, please." She got up and brushed herself off.
"You'll be sorry Marcus. She is never going to pick you and you will be broken again, but this time I won't waste my time on you. " She stomped off and I fell back on my couch. Fuck, I was tired. It took about an hour before Tiffany was all packed up. She had her things in the car. I walked her out.
"Are you sure this is what you really want?" She asked me as she placed her hand on my hand.
"Yes, Tiff, It's what's right." She came close to me and pressed her lips on my lips. I didn't stop her only hoping it would help her feel better. I moved away when she started to make it more.
"I'll be at my mother's," She said and got in her car and left. It was after ten in the morning and I promised Candace I'd be at her parent's party. I took a deep breath and checked on my mother. Her nurse was here for the day so I crawled into my bed and got some sleep.
I opened my eyes with two sets of arms around me. Oh lord, what did I do last night? I asked myself. That's when I saw they both had their suits still on. I sighed and laid back down until I realized I had to pee. I wiggled my way out of their arms. Realizing I was only in my underwear. I ran to the bathroom. I came back out in my robe and they were both smiling at me. "What?" I said. They both shook their heads at me. I went into my closet and pulled out a sweat outfit and some clean panties. "I'm going to have a shower. Why don't you two go fix some food? Wait, Marcus what are you doing here?" He almost looked offended.
"Don't you want me here?" He said.
"That's not what I mean, and yes I want you here, but what about Tiffany?" He looked away and then stood up.
"She moved out yesterday morning." Both Mason and I looked over at him.
"What?" Mason asked.
"I had to tell her the truth. I didn't love her and holding on to her wasn't fair to her or myself."
"Wow, how did she take it?" I asked.
"Not well, but she will be okay."
"Is that really what you wanted to do?" I asked him.
"Yes Candace, it was really what I wanted to do."
"Go take your shower and Mason and I will make something to eat." Mason was removing his coat and taking his vest and tie off. I smiled at Marcus and walked back into the bathroom. i found them both in the kitchen talking quietly with themselves. I stop by the opening and tried to listen.
"What do you think is going to happen this time?" I heard Mason ask Marcus.
"I really don't know man. I just know that she is home and I know you feel the same way."
"Your right man, I do. I also know you two slept together the other night."
"She told you?"
"No, you just did." I walked in and they both stopped talking and looked at me.
"Okay, let's just lay it all on the table. I'm a no-good friend and I have been with you both. Now your turn." I said crossing my arms. They both stood there not saying a word.
"Is that what you think?" mason asked me. I nodded my head.
"You not a no-good friend Cans. We wanted it just as much as you." Marcus just leaned against the counter smiling.
"Why are you smiling?"
"I find this all amusing how we all still act like were fucking teenagers. Grow up, we both still want you. We both still got you. We both love you and we know you love us. So now what? Do we go back to acting like we have to choose or do we just give in and let you have us both?" Both mine and Mason's eyes got big.
"Dude what are you saying?"
"I'm saying, do you want to lose her Mason?" He looked over at me. "Do you want to lose us? Because going back to being just friends is out the door now. Don't you think?" I looked at Mason was just standing there. I knew Marcus was right. I had slept with them both and the friendship couldn't be the only thing on the table.
"So what are we saying here? Are we saying we all want to be together?" Mason and Marcus just started laughing.
"Yeah, I'm straight," Mason said. I watched Marcus just roll his eyes.
"Marcus, both Mason and I live in, New York. How is this going to work out?" Marcus put some foo don a plate and set it in front of me. Mason gave me a cup of coffee. Mason came to my side.
"What do you want?" He asked me. I really haven't thought about it. To be honest I was thinking about only having one of them. I was trying to go down that hole and now here they were acting as if they would be okay to share me. I didn't even know what one I wanted more, but now they were actually wanting to give me what I wanted in the first place. We didn't talk more about it after I told them both to give me some time.
Mason ended up falling asleep on the couch. Marcus said he needed to go to his shop and asked if I want to join him. I agreed and I left Mason a note. "You don't have to be here every day?" I asked him as we pulled up front to his store.
"No, I have employees for that." He said as he took my hand and we headed inside the store. I stood around while Marcus was doing some paperwork and talking with his employees.
"You think you so good, don't you, you homewrecker." I turned to see Tiffany standing there.
"What do you want Tiffany?" I said crossing my arms.
"Well, I came here to give Marcus his books for the store. I, of course, found you here." I didn't have to stand there and listen to her. I walked around her and headed towards Marcus. He looked up at me and then his eyes got huge.
"Candace." He yelled out. I stopped and that's when I felt the cold blade stab me right in the back. I hit the ground and looked up at the scared look on Tiffany's face. She had a huge blood-covered knife in her hand, and then she ran out of the store. I could feel the blackness creep over me and I could hear Marcus yelling out.
