Chapter 41

My water had just broken and I yelled out at Marcus. He took one look at me and ran out to the porch. "Mason, Candace's water just broke." I heard him say. Mason came running back inside the house. Crystal stood at the front door and she had tears running down her face. Mason ran to my side.

"Make her leave Mason. I don't want her here for this." I said to him." Mason took one look at Crystal and she left. I was sure to be having a very large conversation with Mason, but first I needed to go and have this baby. Marcus was already on the phone with my parents. Mason picked me up bridal style. Marcus had my bag and Missy followed us out to the car.

The next thing I knew I was being prepared in the hospital bed. I was smiling even though I was in a ton of pain. I couldn't wait to meet my baby. I thought for sure this was going to happen fast with as much pain as I was in, but I was only dilated four. I ended up falling asleep here and there. I had already been here for over six hours. I was exhausted and ready to be a mommy already. Mason was in a chair next to me watching my every move. Marcus was out getting some coffee and ice chips for me. I moved around a little. I was getting more intense craps. "Are you okay baby?" Mason asked me.

"Yes, are you okay?" I asked him. He looked at me and I knew he knew what I meant.

"Yes, and I promise you I will handle it and tell you everything." I was content with that answer for now. I tried to pull myself up, but I was failing. Mason stood up and came closer to me. "Let me help you." He said. The doctor came walking back in with Marcus behind her.

"How are you feeling?" She asked me as she came to my side.

"Ready," I said. She smiled at me.

"Let's check you and see where we are." She did her exam and then looked up at me. "Your ready to have this baby Candace." I looked at my guys and laid my head back with a smile. I listened as everyone in the room got ready. Missy and my parents waited out in the waiting room. I was only allowed to have two people in the room and of course, I choose my guys.

Everything went well as my daughter, Alexa Joyce Hatter was born with a full head of dark hair. Weighing eight pounds three ounces. The doctor placed her on my chest and Marcus came close to me. "She is beautiful you two," Mason said. I knew when I held her and looked at her that she belonged to Marcus. Marcus kissed my lips.

"look what we did." He said to me and I kissed him back. Mason came to my other side. I reached out for his hand and he kissed me too.

"Do we get to make one?" Mason asked me. I nodded my head at him. My life at this moment was perfect. Everyone came in to meet my daughter. She was beyond loved and I was beyond tired. I opened my eyes later on that night to find Alexa sleeping in her daddy's arms. Mason was close to me asleep in a chair. I was already ready to be home. I smiled and closed my eyes and fell back asleep.

I was awoken by the sounds of someone yelling In the halls. I was alone in my room and the sun was shining in. I sat myself up and grabbed a drink of water. I could still hear someone yelling. I stepped out of the bed and walked to the door. I opened it and walked out. Marcus was losing it. The police were here and some doctors and nurses. Mason was up against the wall with his hands on his face. "What's going on?" I asked in a worried voice. Mason looked up at me and Marcus came running over to my side. "She is gone."

"What? who is gone?" I asked.

"Our daughter," Marcus said. The room started to spin.

"What do you mean gone?" I asked grabbing the wall.

"Someone took her in the night," Mason said sounding enraged. I felt the world go back and I didn't remember anything after that.

Mason's POV,

"How is she?" Missy asked

"She is in shock. She is still out. The doctors are with her right now." I was trying to answer everyone's questions while my best friend and my girl were falling apart. The cops had gotten the tapes from the hospital and were viewing them now. The disappearance of Alexa was all over the news. I was at a loss and realized I had to be the strong one right now. I looked up as Marcus made his way over to me. He took my arm and pulled me aside.

"Why was Crystal here?" He asked me.

"She needs money." He looked at me funny.

"For what? I mean why would she come to you for money?" I sighed and walked into the waiting room. Marcus followed me.

"About three years after I went to New York. She came out to find me. Her mother had gone to drugs and my stepmother threw her out on the streets. She had nothing and nowhere to go. I helped her and..."

"God don't tell me you fucked around with her?" I looked away. "Mason, the girl was fucked up. Why would you do something like that?"

"Look it was a mistake and I told her that the very next day. I have been helping her ever since, but I haven't seen or heard from her in like two years. She found out that I got the house back and came to me for more money. I told her no and that she needed to leave me alone. That's when you came outside."

"Do you think she could have something to do with our daughter?" Marcus asked me. My heart fell when he said our daughter. I had been having a hard time accepting the fact that Candace was carrying Marcus's child. I wasn't angry at them or resented them in any way. I had just hoped with all I had that the child was mine, but to hear Marcus call her our child. Made all those feelings go away and now I was scared. Scared for my daughter. The only person I could think of was Tiffany. Why would anyone else take our baby? The police came walking around the corner.

"Mason, Marcus. Can you both come with us please." They asked us.

"Don't worry, I'll stay with her," Missy said as she walked back to Candace's room. Marcus and I followed the police to a back room where they were going over the tapes.

"I need you two to watch this and tell me if you recognize this person?" Marcus and I both took a seat and the played the tapes for us. We watched someone walk into the nursery, dressed in all black. The person picked up Alexa and headed out of the room. I could feel the anger building up as I watched this person walk out of the nursery holding our daughter. That's when the person looked up at the camera and the police paused the video. The face was a little blurry.

"That's Tiffany," Marcus said. My heart fell on to the floor. Tiffany had our daughter and now we knew nothing more than we knew before. No one has been able to find her since she stabbed Candace. How the hell were we going to find her now? How the hell were we going to tell Candace this?
