Previously on what's a Luna
"I don't bite." I teased trying to lighten the mood and get him to take his books.
"Yeah, but he might." The boy mumbled. "Thank you." He said taking the books quickly and running down the hallway before I could ask him who he was talking about. I had a pretty good idea though.
I made it to the house like normal. The only difference was that mom was waiting for me in the kitchen, she hasn't done that since the divorce.
"Oh good, you're home," she smiled at me and I could see her shoulders relax a bit.
"Have you been waiting for me?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
"Of course, I'm your mom, I'll always wait for you."
"How long?" I asked, setting my bag down on the counter and walked over to the fridge.
"What?" Mom asked, confused for a second. "Oh,.... Since 9, I think. Maybe... 8."
"So all day while I was at school you sat in here and waited for me."
"Well, no. I had to pee about 5 times," She said this like it was completely normal.
"Bored or scared?" I asked scanning the fridge for something to eat. But I didn't know what I was in the mood for.
"Why can't I just wait for my daught-"
"Mom," I deadpanned.
"I just don't like you not being here when I know that.... They.....them.....are... Here, around." She struggled to find the right words but I knew what she was saying. She's scared that I'll get hurt by one of them. She's scared that they'll come after her and I won't be there to do the witchy witch stuff. She's scared. And alone all day. John works, or I think that's what he does, and mom is left here all by herself in a new environment.... I guess she should have thought of that before moving in with a guy you barely know.
"You're the one who's been conudalling with a werewolf for the past couple days. All a sudden you know what he is and what he can do and now you don't want to be anywhere near him. Funny."
"I don't need your sass right now." She crossed her arms.
"And I didn't want to move or have to deal with John, but you were too lovestruck to see what was literally holding you in his hands. I'm pissed. You have no idea how pissed I am, but I am trying to push my feelings aside, again, so we can get out of this mess you and dad created. You acting all weird all of a sudden isn't going to help us. You've already conudalled and once you conudalled, you can't go back. Stop acting weird, he's going to know you know something if you keep it up, then we really will have a problem on our hands. Most supernatural creatures don't tell their significant other that they are supernatural. For safety reasons and because then they become part of the supernatural world, meaning a dangerous life. So he won't say anything to you as long. As. you. play. Along. Okay?" I asked. I placed a hand on her shoulder and she let out a breath.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I'm supposed to be the adult in this situation and I'm not. I know I've said it before. But I'll try to do better."
I gave her a tight lipped smile and she pulled me in for a hug.
"Am I intruding on something?" I heard John's voice asked and rolled my eyes. I've never acted like I like him so I don't have to change a thing. Hell he’d get suspicious if I start being nice if anything.
"No," I said and pulled away from my mom. "Though Liam’s coming over today."
John furrowed his eyebrows and stood straighter when I mentioned Liam's name. "What for?" He asked and I just shrugged.
"Business," I said and walked out of the room to go upstairs. When my foot touched the first step there was a knock on the door and mom was ushering me to stand next to her.
"Liam, you came over for business?" John asked and shook Liam's hand in greeting.
"Actually my grandfather would like to talk about something. I'm just here for the ride." Liam let go of John's hand and started heading my way. His grandfather then walked through the door and shook hands with john.
"Let's talk and walk. I need some more exercise anyways." Liam's grandfather said and John started walking for the door.
"Would you like to stay for dinner?" John asked and it automatically made me think of Mulan. 'Would you like to stay forever?'
"Of course, thank you." Liam replied when his grandfather looked at him. Liam was now standing next to me waiting for the two to leave.
"I'll start cooking then." My mom shrugged. To be honest the only reason she even said this was most likely because she felt safest in the kitchen. It's where all the knives are.
"Thank you, sweetheart." John kissed My mom on the cheek and I could tell she was trying not to give into the mating bond. "If you want, you guys could always go for a swim. The pool barely gets used anymore." John told us.
"I didn't even know there was a pool." I muttered to myself but I guess John heard me anyway cause he paused from closing the door.
"Maybe it's because you say in your room all day." He mocked. I went to glare at him but I swear I heard him whimper just as the door closed.
I felt Liam's presence and turned to see him glaring lightly at the door. When he felt me staring at him he flashed me a smile and tucked his thumbs in his front pockets.
"So what do you say? Want to jump in the pool?" He asked.
