"Truth or dare?" Riley asked me asked me. We were sitting on the floor and sitting across from each other.
"Truth." I smiled at him and he smirked.
"Are you a virgin?"
"Seriously? You've never done the dirty nasty?"
"No. Okay your turn, truth or dare?"
"I dare you to take a cold shower."
"Damn you." He laughed and headed for the bathroom. He turned on the shower and hopped in. "Holy shit! This is so cold!" He shook and tried to warm himself. "How long do I have to stay in here?"
"Two more minutes." I giggled and he groaned. I set a timer for two minutes.
The timer beeped and Riley shut the water off. I handed him a towel and helped him dry off. He was shivering and his teeth clattered.
"Maybe that dare was a little cruel." I scrunched up my face as he fluffed his hair with the towel.
"You think?" He rolled his eyes and took his shirt off.
"What are you doing?" I covered my eyes so I wouldn't see anything.
"Relax. I'm just hanging up my shirt and shorts so they can dry."
"I don't need to see that."
"You're so shy, come here." I felt his hands grab my waist as he pulled me to him.
I uncovered my eyes and looked at him. He grabbed my hand and ran my hand against his abs. My fingertips tingled at the touch of his cold wet skin.
"C-can we just get back to the game?" I took my hand back and walked out of the bathroom.
He came out and still didn't have a shirt on or pants as he walked over to his side of the room to get new boxers and shorts. I quickly averted my eyes somewhere else to avoid seeing his bare ass, but I did steel a glimpse of his back. “Truth or dare?" Riley asked me once he sat back on the ground.
"When was your first kiss?"
"It was with my friend Trevor. It was freshman year of high school, we were at a party and we got really drunk. We went to his room and started making out. No big deal."
"Oh I see. So are you two still a thing or?"
"Sadly no, he got into a car accident and died before we graduated from high school."
"It's okay it gets a little better each day with the healing.” I pause for a moment and think of him and all of the other people I have lost in my life, “Anyways, truth or dare?"
"What's the worst thing that has happened to you?"
"I change my mind. I want a dare."
"Okay, I dare you to answer the question."
"Nope." He popped the p and rolled his eyes.
"Riley, it's just a game. Just answer the question." I stood up and lectured him.
"Nope. I rather take a cold shower again than answer the question." He crossed his arms and stuck his nose high up in the air.
"Fine. What’s the reason why you won’t date?”
"You heard me, why is it when anyone asks you about dating you always say you can’t get tied down."
"Well, why does it matter how I answer that question? It’s not like we are an item or anything so, no big deal, right?” He smirks and before I could respond, someone knocked on the door and Riley opened it.
"What's wrong?" Marcy asks me as she brushes past her brother.
“Oh nothing, I’m fine. Did you need something?” I get to my feet.
“Yes, Janessa and I need to talk to you about something,” she grabs my hand and begins to lead me out of the room. Once we are in her dorm she shuts the door and folds her arms.
"What's going on?" Janessa came from the bathroom and looked at Marcy and I.
"What the hell did he do this time?" Marcy grumbled.
"He didn’t do anything, I just want to know him before I can..." I let my voice trail off.
"Before you can what?" Janessa asked me. We were sitting on her bed and she had her arm draped around my shoulders.
"Before I can decide something." I sighed.
"If I like him or not."
"You like him?" Janessa and Marcy smiled at each other.
"Maybe, I don't know. My heart wants to, but my mind says no. What do I do?"
"I don't know. My brother is a player, you know this. He loves the game and loves women and women love him. It's going to be very hard to just get all of his attention to fall on you." Marcy smiled sympathetically.
"I know. But I'm not saying I love him. I can't, we're just friends and I'm not good enough for him. I can't take him out of his game."
"Yes you can. He likes you, he just hasn't realized it yet."
"But what are we going to do? I don't want to force him into liking me."
"I'll think of something. But in the meantime, you just stay calm and leave everything to me and Janessa. Okay?"
"Okay." I smiled and they hugged me.
"Hey." Riley smiled to me as I walked back into our dorm room.
"Hi." I looked at him for a second, but focused all my attention back to my phone.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Okay. So are you hungry?"
"Sure, I could eat."
"Okay. Do you want pizza rolls?"
"Okay." He took some pizza rolls out of our mini fridge and freezer and popped them in the microwave.
There was a long, awkward silence that came into the room. I looked up from my phone and saw Riley starring right at me.
"What?" I snapped at him.
"Nothing." He said quietly.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Like what? I'm not doing anything."
"You're making a face at me."
"The face that makes me want to punch you."
"Okay wow, that's harsh."
"Stop looking at me. You're making me uncomfortable."
"Sorry." He looked down to his hands and I looked back at my phone. We ate and didn't speak. I put my head phones and studied for a test I had tomorrow.
Riley went to bed a little earlier than he usually does. "Night doll face." He mumbled and I smiled.
"Night Riley." I closed my text book, changed into pajamas, and went to sleep too.
