Blame It On Me

It's been two weeks and I still don't have the money to get Rick fixed. I was on my bed with my head in my hands and I started to sob.

I heard the door open, but I didn't lift my head to see who it was. "Hey, what's wrong?" It was Riley and he knelt down in front of my bed.

"I-I don't have mon-money to fix- Rick." I sobbed and shook. I felt him wrap his arms around me.

"It's okay. I promise it'll be okay."

"How? I can't save him. I don't know what to do!"

"Easy, calm down. I promise, we'll fix him." He grabbed my hands away from my face and started wiping my tears away.

"I can wipe my own tears." I tried to smile.

"I know, but I can do it better." He kissed my forehead and embraced me.

"I want him back."

"I know." Just then, Riley's phone rang. "Hang on." He stood up and walked out of the room.

I wiped my tears away and tried to clam down. He came back into the room with a smile on his face and looked at me.

"Come on doll face we're going to go somewhere." He helped me stand.

"I don't really feel like going anywhere." I sighed.

"You'll like this place and you don't even have to dress fancy. Just a T-shirt and some shorts is fine." He opened my closet doors and picked out a red crop top, black shorts, and Vans.

"Okay." I smiled weakly.

"I've got to go brush my teeth, then we'll leave." He kissed my forehead and went into the bathroom.

I slowly got dressed. I looked in my mirror and fixed my hair and put on some mascara and eyeliner.

"Ready?" Riley came out of the bathroom.

"Yeah." I grabbed my purse and put a piece of gum in my mouth as we walked out of the room.

"Why are we here?" I asked Riley as we pulled up to the auto shop.

"You'll see." He smiled.

"I told you, I don't have any money to pay for Rick to get fixed."

"Just shh and let's go."

"Fine." I rolled my eyes and got out of his Porsche.

"Ah welcome back." I saw the repair man from the first time and scowled at him.

"Hey so is he ready?" Riley broke the tension between the man and I.

"Yeah, follow me." He had us follow him outside and around back.

"My baby!" I smiled and ran to him. Riley followed and smiled. Rick was in perfect condition: new paint, no rust, new lights, and my seats got stitched up.

"But how? I didn't-" I was in awe, but Riley cut me off.

"I told you that I would take care of it." He smiled.

"How could you've paid for this? It was $50,000!"

"I know, but it's no big deal."

"Uh, yes it is! Thank you so much Riley!" I jumped into his arms and wrapped my legs around his waist.

"You're welcome doll face." He wrapped his arms around me and smiled against my cheek.

"Thank you so much. I owe you big time."

"No you don't."

"Oh come on, there's got to be something I can do to repay you."

"We never slow danced."

"We can do that when we get back home. I promise." I kissed his cheek and he set me down.

I got into my Jeep and he got into his Porsche. I pulled out of the parking lot, and Riley followed.

Hey Rick! I got you back buddy and I'm never letting anything bad happen to you ever again. I promise!

I smiled as I drove to the university with my music blaring and my shades on.
