Blame It On Me

“Naomi! Wake up.” I heard voices all around me and I slowly opened my eyes.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAOMI!!!!” Ryan, Justin, Riley, Marcy, and Janessa all shouted. It startled me a bit but I got over it.

“Aw thanks guys.” I smiled and slowly got out of bed. Or tried to at least.

“No getting up for you.” Marcy pushed me back down.

“What? Why?” I was confused.

“Because we have a surprise. Riley, go get it.” Riley ran out of the room and to who knows where.

He came back with a tray full of food. “Breakfast in bed! Just for you doll face.” He smiled and placed the tray over my legs.

“Thank you. I really appreciate this y’all, but you didn’t have-” Marcy cut me off.

“Yes we did. And plus, this was all Riley’s idea.”

“Seriously? Thanks Riles.”

“Welcome doll face. I told you, I’d do anything for you.” He winked at me and I smiled. “Alright gang. I can take over from here and we’ll talk about the you-know-what, later.” Riley started shooing everyone out.

“Okay. Text me when she’s done though so that me and Janessa can take her.” Marcy said.

“Okay I will.”

“Okay. Bye Naomi.”

“Bye y’all.” I waved goodbye with pancakes stuffed in my mouth. Riley shut the door and sat next to me. I was sitting in his bed. “Thanks Riley.” I smiled and he grinned.

“You’re welcome doll face.”

“Why did you do this for me?”

“Because, it’s your birthday and I really like...Uh-I mean, I just wanted to do something special for you.”

“Mhm...well, I like it. Sorry about waking you up last night.”

“It’s okay.” He took a piece of bacon from my plate and bit into it. I looked at him and he laughed. “Open you mouth.” He said.

“Just do it.”

“Ugh, fine.” I opened my mouth and he stuck the rest of the bacon strip he bit off of, into my mouth. I ate it and we smiled at each other. He took my fork out of my hands and helped himself to my eggs. “Seriously?” I smacked his arm playfully and he just laughed.

“I’m helping you finish.” He smiled with a mouthful of eggs.

“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes and we finished eating.
“Where are we going?” I asked Marcy and Janessa as we headed towards Rick (my jeep).

“We are going shopping.” Marcy smiled.

“I know, but what store?”

"What is that?”

“The best store ever.”

“Okay then. Whatever you say.” I got behind the wheel and Marcy sat next to me as Janessa sat in the seat behind her. I grabbed my shades and started the engine.
“How do I look?” I came out of the dressing room wearing acid white colored high wasted shorts, black crop top, black converse, and a moon necklace.

“Damn. You look hot.” Janessa fanned herself and Marcy laughed at her.

“Thanks Jess. Should I get it?”

“Absolutely. You look amazing.” Marcy smiled.

“Thanks Mars. Okay. Let me change real quick.” I went back into the changing room and slipped my original clothes back on. We slid back into my jeep, each with at least three shopping bags full of clothes. “Okay, I am now in love with that store.” I smiled.

“I told you, best store ever.” Marcy giggled while putting on her seatbelt.

“Should we go get Starbucks?” Janessa suggested. I shrugged and we took off to it anyways.

We got back to the dorm and I had Riley get my bags for me, well actually, insisted since it’s my birthday.

“Okay, so you guys need to start getting ready. We’ll be back and then when we get back, you four can leave, and I’ll take doll face to the you-know-what.” Riley said to Marcy, Justin, Janessa, and Ryan. The boys then left the room and the girls and I got ready.

“What are y’all planning?” I asked them.

“We can’t tell you that. It’s classified.” Janessa joked.

“Y’all so secretive.”

“Sorry but if we told you, Riley would murder us.”

“You’ll see why. Now stop with the 20 questions young lady and get ready.”

“Uh, fine.” I put on my outfit from Tilly’s and started putting on my makeup.

Nothing too special, just some mascara, eyeliner, fixed my eyebrows, and some red lipstick. I did a messy bun on the top of my head and I was ready to go.

“You get ready quick.” Marcy looked amazed at my speed.

“I always have been this fast.”

“Why though?”

“I don’t know. When is Riley getting back?”

“We don’t know. He had to stop and pick something up real quick and drop it off somewhere. He’ll be here soon, I promise.”

“Okay.” I sat on my bed and played Flappy Bird while listening to Dorothy.
Why did love put a gun in my hand? Why did love put a gun in my hand? In my bed, in my head, in my hand.

I had my headphones in so that the girls couldn’t bear the song.

I laid down on my back and looked at the ceiling.

Hi mom, hi dad. It’s me, Naomi. I don’t know if you remember, but today is my 19th birthday. I love you. I said peacefully in my mind.

It’s been 11 years since I’ve spent a birthday with my parents. Every time my birthday rolls around, I always say the same thing and I always know that they’re saying it too and that I just can’t hear them from where they are.
“You ready doll face?” Riley leaned over me and kissed my forehead.

“Yeah let’s go.” I went to leave but he stopped me.

“You need this on first.” He held a red blindfold in his hands.

“Are you kidding me?”

“No I’m not kidding you. I don’t want you to see where we’re going. Let me put it on.”

“Fine whatever, but if people think that you’re kidnapping me and you get arrested, I’m going to laugh at you.”

“Whatever. It’s fine.” The girls and the boys were already gone.

Riley tired the blindfold over my eyes and I couldn’t see anything.

“Can you see anything?” He asked me.

“Nope. I’m as blind as a bat.” I laughed.

“Alright. Here, hold my hand.” Riley grabbed my hand and our fingers intertwined and my heart sky rocketed though the roof.

We’re holding hands!!! It squealed in exciment.

I was afraid that he was going to hear it, but I kind of didn’t care if he did.

“Easy, watch your step.” Riley was guiding me.

“Can I take this thing off before I break my neck?” I complained but he just lightly chuckled.

“No, just hold my hand.”

“I am. I just don’t want to fall.”

“I would never let you fall. I would catch you.”

“I can tell that you’re smirking and winking. Aren’t you?”

“Whatever. I take it that were taking the Porsche?”

“Uh-hun.” I heard him open a car door and he helped me slid in and guided my hands for the seat belt.

Once I was situated, he shut the door and he gets in behind the wheel.

“Are you ready to have the best birthday party ever?” He asked me and I could literally hear his mouth smirking.

“Well, I have nothing else better to do and I’m kind of being taken against my will, so I guess I’m ready.” I shrugged my shoulders and gave a sarcastic smile.

“You’re such a party popper. Quit pooping on parties.”

“Sorry. It’s in my nature. I’m a creature of habit.”

“I have a feeling that you’re quoting Teen Wolf.”

“No, I’m quoting Romeo and Juliet...yes! I’m quoting Teen wolf!”

“Oh my god, you are totally the girl version of Stiles.”

“I better be him and Scott combined.”

“Why can’t I be Scott?”

“You’re not hot enough.”

“Ouch that burns.”

“Apply cold water to that burn.”

“Can I be Derek?”

“Not mean enough.”

“What about Isaac?”

“You don’t wear scarfs.”

“Not strong enough.”

“Not cool enough.”

“Sherif Stilinski?”

“Not enough swag.”

“Not smart enough.”

“There you go buddy.” I smirked to myself. I wish I could’ve seen what his face expression was right now, but this blindfold says otherwise.
“Alright, we’re here.” Riley said. I felt the Porsche come to a halt. He opened my door, unbuckled my seat belt, and grabbed my hand. I heard him open another door and he told me to step up and had a feeling that we were in a house.

He untied my blindfold and my eyes adjusted to the scene before me after the blurriness faded.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAOMI!!!” People jumped out of everywhere and cheered. There was a happy birthday sign and Marcy and Janessa were holding a candle lit cake.

“Aw. Thank you everyone.” I smiled.

“I also brought you someone.” Riley whispered in my ear. Marcy and Janessa moved, and standing behind them...

“KIMBS!!!!” I sprinted towards her and nearly knocked her down. “Oh my god! I can’t believe you’re here!” I was so excited to see my best friend again.

“Well start believing ’cause it’s me.” She laughed.

“But, how did you-”

“Riley may have went through your phone, got my number, paid for my plane ticket here, picked me up from the airport, and brought me to your birthday party. He just might have done that.”

“So Riley did this?”

“Maybe.” She scrunched up her nose and I laughed.

I turned to Marcy and Janessa. I blew out my candles and that’s when the music started and people began to dance.

I turned around and saw Riley behind me. “So, you went on my phone?” I crossed my arms and tapped my foot.

“I might have.” He smiled.

“Please tell me you didn’t read my messages.”

“Do you want the truth or a lie?”

“Oh dear god.”

“It’s okay that you think I’m hotter than the sun.”

“I never said that.”

“Yes you did.”

“I hate you so much, it’s actually painful.”

“Mhm.” He chuckled. I stood on my tippy toes and wrapped my arms around his neck.

“Thank you Riley, for everything.” I whispered into his ear softly.

“I told you, I’d do anything for you doll face.” I felt him smile against the side of my face.

“But how did you pay for all of this?”

“Doll face, I drive a Porsche, money is to no problem to me. And nothing but the best for you.”

“Thanks. I really appreciate it.”

“You’re welcome doll face. Can you do me a favor? Can you save me a slow dance?”

“Yes. I will definitely save you a slow dance.” I kissed him on the cheek and I went to go party with my girls.
The music was blaring, their was vapor smoke all over, red solo cups were playing solo on the floor, people were drunk and having fun, and people were making out in every corner.

Kimberly was grinding on some guy and Marcy and Janessa were making out with Ryan and Justin.

Finally! Justin and Janessa are just like, yes. And Ryan and Marcy are like perfection.

I was in the kitchen by myself soaking in everything. I wanted to go somewhere quieter, so I stepped outside.

The backyard was so pretty. There was a pool with red bricks, there were lights streaming above, and there were bushes trimmed in different animals like horses and elephants. I looked up into the night and sighed.

I felt someone wrap an arm around my waist and hug me from behind. “Now why is a pretty girl, such as yourself, out here alone and not enjoying her kick ass party?” It was Riley and he had his usual annoying smirk plastered on his face. He had two drinks in his hands and I could already tell one of them were mine.

“I don’t know. It’s pretty out and I thought I would come out and see.” I smiled at the sky.

“Oh. Yeah, I guess. How do you like my castle?”

“I like it. It’s very nice.”

“Damn right.”

“You’re such a dork. The stars are so pretty and the moon is full, which completes the sky’s beautiful complexion.”

“Yeah, but nothing’s more beautiful than you in the moonlight.”

“Smooth. I like that one. You’re going to have to make more compliments like that.”

“What can I say? I have a way with words.” We gazed into each other’s eyes, just smiling at each other.

The moonlight glazed over his sky blue eyes perfectly, making them almost look a milky white color.

“Why are you not drunk yet?” He asked me, handing me a cup of vodka.

“I don’t know.” I shrugged and took a sip and scrunched up my nose at the strong taste.

“Well, my job is to get you drunk. That is my other birthday present for you. To get you drunk, you’re welcome!”

“Thanks. I’m flattered.”

“It’s your birthday, you deserve a break. Your best friend is here, don’t you want to get drunk with her?”

“Yeah I guess you have a point there. I’ll go get drunk.”

“I’ll take that action.” We clicked out cups together and chugged the vodka.

We went back inside and parted our ways. I went into the living room where people were doing beer kegs. “Hey birthday girl,” some random guy came up to me, “how about you try a keg?” He smiled at me and I was intrigued by his offer.

“Hell yeah!” I shouted and the crowd around erupted in supporting cheers.

I approached the keg and two guys lifted me up and I put my mouth in the nozzle. “Go! Go! Go! Go!” People all around cheered as I chugged and chugged the beer.

I consumed so much that I thought my liver was going to come sliding out of my vagina. I gave them a signal to say that I was done and they put me down.

“That’s how you chug beer bitches! Can I get an Amen?!” I screamed to the crowd.

“AMEN!” Everyone shouted back to me. I went to go look for Chloe in the kitchen.

“Hey gurrrll. Waz up?” I was slurring my words and I couldn’t see straight, but I didn’t give a fuck. I was too turned up to care.

“Holy shit Naomi! How drunk are you?” She looked surprised at my messy composure.

“I don’t know and I don’t care! It’s my birthday and I’m partying until I die!”

“You’re ridiculous!”

“Oh don’t be such a square!”

“Okay. I’ll try being more round. I’m gonna go dance, want to come with me?”

“You mean like twerking?”

“Yeah sure, if you want.”

“Then hell yeah!” We found a spot to dance. I started twerking on some random guy and Chloe danced with another guy.
“Whatcha doing there?” Riley came up to me as I was dancing and drinking more beer.

“Dancing!” I laughed. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his neck.

“Okay, let’s not do that. Come on doll face, we’re gonna go lay down okay?” He grabbed my hand and led me up stairs.

We entered his room and I fell onto his bed and he chuckled. “Riley, come here.” I patted the bed and he sat next to me.

“What?” He looked at me and I giggled.

“You’re-hiccup-pretty-hiccup.” I was hiccuping in between each word.

“Thanks doll face.”

“Riley? Hiccup-are you my-hiccup-boyfriend yet?”

“Get some sleep.”

“But I’m not tired. I-hiccup-want to party with-hiccup-Kimbs and my friends. Plus you said you wanted me drunk.”

“I know doll face, but you need to take it easy for awhile.”

“Riley, please. I don’t-hiccup- want to be in here alone.”

“Who said you’ll be alone?” He got up, locked the door, shut off the lights, and crawled into his bed with me.
