Chapter 15 - I’m Ready
I woke up smiling pretty hard the next morning. I greedily inhaled the scent of his cologne he so graciously left on my pillow when he crept out of my bed sometime in the wee hours of the night.
I finally get myself out of the bed and brush my teeth and hop in the shower. I pull out my pair of camo leggings with my off the shoulder black tunic sweater and my favorite pair of black booties.
I looked over on my nightstand and grabbed my cell and decided to check my Instagram. Scrolling through I seen Lyric post about his time at Magic City.
Thanks for showing much love!
Lookin’ so fly: $1200
Bottles on deck: $2500
Poppin them bands: $50,000
Private dance from the baddest Chick in the club: Priceless
All I could do was laugh to myself as I read his post. These feelings that I’ve been trying to push away, I don’t mind so much anymore after last night. I can honestly say I’ve been the happiest I’ve been in the past week then I’ve been in a year. And maybe, just maybe if he’s ready to take it there, I might be ready to go there with him this time around.
My thoughts were interrupted when I get a text notification from Miranda.
📱Miranda: Morning Chick. How was the club?
📱Me: It was cool. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to text you back.
📱Miranda: No, you not heifer!
📱Me: I swear I am hun lol.
📱Miranda: Well since you didn’t text me back. Did anything interesting happen last night that I should know about?
I just ignored the last text as I walked to the kitchen and fixed me a bowl of oatmeal and sat down at the kitchen island and started eating. And just like I predicted Miranda starts blowing my phone up.
“So you just wasn’t gone answer my text heifer?”
“I would’ve gotten to it eventually.” I chuckled into the phone.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever! I see how you treat your pregnant best friend. But anyways, you busy later?”
“No, I don’t have anything planned and I think Lyric is just supposed to meet up with Chauncey. Why what’s up?”
“Well since you’re being so mean to me, you can take me out to Pappadueax.”
“Why, So you can aggravate me some more about how I don’t treat you right?” I laughed.
“You know me so well!” She laughed. “So are you in or nah girl?”
I was about to finish my sentence when my hair gets swept to the side and those familiar soft lips kiss and nip on my spot.
“Mmmm, shit!” The shock from his touch had me bracing the edge of the kitchen island dropping the phone on the counter.
“De you alright over there?”
I picked my phone up from the counter when he went for my spot again. I took the phone away from my mouth.
“Lyric! I’m on the phone,” I was whisper screaming.
“Ok, so talk,” he said with that devilish smirk on his face.
“De you there?”
“Yea, yea, I’m here, I’m here.....oh shit......right theeerrrre.”
“Right where, girl you sure you ok?”
“Yes, I’m fi....fin...I’m fine....shit I’m fine!”
I turned around and punched him in the stomach.
“Stop it!” I whispered gritting my teeth together. All he was doing was smirking and laughing at me. That damn smile made it so hard to stay mad at him.
“Oookaayy, I guess so that’s a yes for Pappadueax?”
I went to answer but by then Lyric had turned my stool completely around wrapping his arms around my thighs pulling me to the edge of the seat. Making me wrap my legs around his waist.
I guess my neck must’ve been on the menu for breakfast because he was devouring it. Flooding my skin with open mouth kisses. Pulling my hips making sure my pussy felt how hard he was for me. His lips curling into a smile against my skin as my lower region became possessed by arousal grinding all on his more than ready hard dick.
“Mir...Miranda.....YES! BITCH I GOTTA GO!”
My right hand ran through his hair to the back of his head. My left fist held tightly into his wife beater. Drawing his body closer into me as our tongues swirled together in unison. Lyric sucking on my tongue and bottom lip had me all in a lustful haze. He pulled away from me rubbing his thumb across my lip. God, he needs to stop taking me there if he’s not gonna finish.
“You ok babe?” he asked with a grin on his face.
“What was that babe?” he was chuckling now.
My eyes were halfway closed still foggy from the steam of that kiss.
“I......I can’t even tell you what the fuck I just said.”
He laughed again. Propping me back upright in my stool. “Your gonna go hang out with Miranda?” He pecked my lips.
“Mmmmm, yes. Just meeting up for lunch,” I pecked his lips back.
He brushed his lips up my neck to my ear kissing it gently then whispering, “So when I finish my meeting with Chauncey and your done having lunch with Miranda, we’re gonna have our own meeting.” He kissed my neck. “Then if it goes well, you’ll let me have you for dinner?” He licked it this time.
I giggled out loud when he pulled back to stare into my eyes.
“I need an answer babe.” I guess he was looking for me to reassure him again. If this is definitely what I wanted to do this time. And I was ready.....ready for him to have me.....have all of me.
“Yes, Lyric........ok.......I’m ready baby.
After we pulled our hot and horny selves away from each other Lyric left to meet up with Chauncey while I checked on his emails, bookings, and inquiries from promoters. Soon as I was finished I texted Miranda and told her I was leaving to head to the restaurant.
It took me about 25 minutes to meet up with her at the Pappadueax Seafood Kitchen Restaurant.
“So what’s up M’ I’ve been mentally preparing myself for this verbal assault you trying to dish out,” I laughed sitting down at her table.
“Nope, I’ve decided I’m not gonna argue with you.”
“Oh really?” I raised an eyebrow at her.
“Yep, it’s really no need to keep going back and forth about the situation so.....,” her phone receives a text and she gets distracted for a second a small smile appears on her face.
“Can you tell Vince not to send you dirty text messages while you’re with me,” I laughed jokingly.
“Girl no,” she said laughing as the waitress walked up to the table.
“Hello ladies my name is Heather and I’ll be serving you today. Did you want to order your drinks while you wait for your third party?”
“Oh no it’s just us two-” I went to respond when Miranda cuts me off.
“Oh we can wait, they said they were outside. Give us like 5 minutes to get situated,” she said cheesing hard as hell as Heather nods and walks off.
“Oh is Vince coming to Miranda?”
She had this look like she holding back a confession and as her eyes lit up looking off to the entrance of the restaurant where a tall gentleman was standing looking like a Chris Brown replica it finally clicked. I wanted to strangle her. I mean how long would they give me for killing a pregnant woman?
“Miranda you didn’t!”
She looked at me like a deer in headlights and just shrugged her shoulders.
“Miranda! Tell me you fucking didn’t!”
“Miranda, good to see you again,” he said walking over to give her a kiss on the cheek.
“Hakeem, good to see you too hun, your looking really handsome today, right De?”
I mean I could plead temporary insanity and get out early for good behavior. I could deal with that for the rest of my life, just to know that I got to wrap my hands around her throat.
“And you beautiful must be Dereon. Miranda’s told me so much about you. Your pictures don’t do you justice.”
He reached out his tattooed filled arm and held out his hand and I reluctantly took it. It wasn’t his fault and I didn’t want to be rude.
“Nice to meet you Hakeem,” I said giving Miranda the death glare.
“Well I’mma leave you two kiddos alone to get to know each other, I’ll just be at the bar,” she said winking at me.
“Oh no Miranda you don’t have leave stay ya ass right here,” I gritted through my teeth grabbing her arm and squeezing the hell out it as she tried to stand.
She eventually wiggled her way out of my grasp. Then throwing up her fingers giving us the deuces as she walked off to the bar.
This feels so fucking awkward and I was just trying to think of ways to get me out this without looking like a total bitch.
“So Miranda told me you and her have become really good friends the past few years,” he asked smiling at me contently.
“Yea but that may be ending real soon,” I said sarcastically and he laughed.
“Hmm let me guess, you didn’t know I was coming because she told me you were interested in meeting up today,” he grinned.
“I’m sorry Hakeem but my meddlesome of a best friend doesn’t know how to follow directions because I told her I wasn’t interested in dating right now. I just got out of a 2-year relationship.”
“Oh really.....damn...you breaking my heart already,” he held his hand to his chest. We both laughed.
“Well, Ms. Not Interested In Dating Right Now since we’re here would you mind having lunch with me anyways?”
“Sure why not we came all this way right, we might as well eat,” giving him a soft smile.
The waitress finally comes back over and takes our order and Hakeem and I just shoot the breeze until our food comes out. He’s definitely cute and seems really nice but he’s definitely not my Lyric.
“So what do you do for a living Hakeem?”
He chuckles a bit. “I’mma let you guess.”
“Hmm, well if I had to go by looks I’d say a tattoo artist or something in the art field.”
“Well you’re a little right, I do draw and do tattoos but that’s just a hobby when I have downtime. Maybe if I’m lucky one day you’ll let me do a full-body portrait of you,” he said softly biting the corner of his lip.
“So ugggh, I’m not sure what else to guess then.”
“I’m an accountant.”
“Really wow I never would’ve guessed that.”
He laughed, “Most people don’t........A matter of fact..........there’s one of my clients right there.” He looked up waving the person over.
“What’s up with you C,” Hakeem said my surprise when I saw....
“What’s up Hakeem......De?”
“Oh ya’ll two know each other?” Hakeem asks.
“Yea, she’s Lyric’s assistant and good friend.”
“Oh wow it’s a small world,” Hakeem says looking at me and smiling.
“Uggh, yea, too damn small. Chauncey, I thought you were meeting with Lyric?”
“We still are we just came to grab something to eat. He’s in the bathroom.”
And because this situation couldn’t get any more uncomfortable here comes Lyric, walking over looking at me sideways.
Lyric grips up Hakeem. And they talk for a minute. Then Hakeem asks when he’s ready to get another tattoo from him. Lyric answers him but he’s definitely giving me the side-eye. And I can’t help but look at anything but him.
“I didn’t know you knew Lyric, Dereon.”
“Hehehe, yea,” I said nervously running my hands through my hair.
God get me out of this one please!
“Wassup, De?” Lyric says giving me this ungodly stare. “I thought you were out with Miranda?”
“I was...I mean...I am...I mean.....”
My eyes shot over to the bar looking for Miranda but of course, she was nowhere in sight. Did that bitch leave? I swear I’ll do the full time happily after I kill her!
“Well since your good friends with Dereon, Lyric, maybe you can convince her not interested in dating anyone right now self to go out with me again,” Hakeem said with a huge grin on his face.
Fucking kill me right now! Please somebody fucking kill me!
I know the color left my face as Hakeem spoke. It was nothing I could say to save me from this. Even if I had something to say the huge lump in my throat would’ve blocked anything from coming out anyways.
I could see Lyric lip twitch and that vein on the right side of his forehead started to emerge. It only came out when he was highly pissed off.
“Well she doesn’t have anybody tying her down right now so I’m sure you’ll have a lot of time to convince her since she seems to do whatever hell she wants anyway.”
“What the hell does-”
“Alright bro, I’mma holla at ’cha bout that tat another day,” Lyric said interrupting me and gripping up Hakeem again. Then he turned around and stormed out of the restaurant.
“Hakeem I’m sorry I need to go speak to Lyric right quick,” I said jumping up from the table and running out the door.
“WHAT!” He yelled finally stopping in front of his Range Rover.
“Let me explain!”
“What the fuck do you wanna explain De? How you got me looking like a fucking duck for you! You really think I’m stupid huh?!
“No, look Miranda kept trying to set me up with him. We were meeting for lunch and I didn’t know she was gonna tell him to come here! I told her I wasn’t interested. I wouldn’t lie to you about that.”
“So it’s Miranda’s fault. So why would she set you up with somebody if you telling her what’s going on between us? And don’t tell me she never asked you cause I know she’s nosy as fuck. Unless you downplaying me to her about what we got going on!”
“I mean, I just didn’t feel I needed to tell her anything until.....”
“Until I figured out my feelings towards you.”
His demeanor was so intense as he walked up to me. He was angry and I don’t blame him. I just wanted make it right. So I just let him get it all off his chest.
“I fucking love you De, I don’t know what else I can do or say to show you that! I waited 2 years for your ass to realize this after you left and if I’m not what you want......I’m not fucking waiting any longer, I swear I’m done! You not gone have me out here looking like a damn fool!”
“I’m not trying to make you look foolish! I don’t want you to wait anymore Lyric, I know how I feel about you. I want us to be together!”
“Then fucking act like it De!”
I went to hold his hand but he pulled away from me.
“Man.....I’m good on that shit,” he said dismissing me and jumping in his Range Rover and pulling off.
