I had hoped the text I received at moms would have been from Willow but it was Rosalyn. I didn't bother to open it, instead, I found myself texting Willow asking her if we were still on for tonight. I had waited around 30 minutes and when she didn't answer me I could only guess that whatever Rosalyn had said to her had upset her.
Even though I hadn't heard from her I still made my way over to the park. I had hoped that I would find Willow waiting for me at the bench where I had last found her but it was empty. Part of me wanted to leave but I found myself getting out and going over to sit there myself.
I felt stupid. Why was I here I didn't chase after girls. I had a handful that was in my inbox just awaiting me to reply to them. Sighing I sent Willow another text, "I'm don't like waiting Willow."
Looking out in front of me I shook my head wondering why I was even sitting here. I had a million other things I could be doing. None of them involved sitting on a bench in the dark looking like a God damn idiot. I had about given up and was ready to leave when I looked up seeing Willow walking slowly toward me.
"I didn't think you would come," I said as she sat down beside me.
She looked down putting her hands together, "I wasn't going to."
I could tell she was uncomfortable. She wouldn't look up at me and she was wringing her hands tougher. I shook my head, this right here was why I didn't do relationships. I wasn't even in a relationship with this girl and she was tripping.
"What did Rosalyn say to you."
Willow looked over at me, "you mean your girlfriend."
I snorted, "she wishes."
Looking over at me Willow shook her head, "look it's cool. I've known the type of guy you were since the first time I met you. I don't know why I thought..." She shook her head, "look I only came out here to..."
"Are you jealous?"
Willow looked up at me frowning. "Excuse me?"
I snorted, "I've told you Rosalyn isn't anything to me. I don't know what she told you. She's just something to do when I'm bored."
"And I'm what?" she said looking over at me. "oh right, your weekend project."
"You're not a fucking project. Can you get that shit out of your head." I said angrily. "I've done nothing to you to deserve that. I've never pretended to be anything that I'm not. Rosalyn is nothing to me."
"Oh and I am," she said rolling her eyes.
"You could be if you weren't such a bitch. I've done nothing but try and help you and all you do is push me the fuck away. I don't know why I even bother with you."
Willow stood up, "I don't either. You're nothing but a waste of space."
As she turned to walk off I stood up grabbing her arm turning her around. My lips captured hers and when we separated both of us were out of breath. "You say one thing but your body says another."
Willow shook her head, "Fuck off."
I looked down at her running my hand through her hair, " I'll leave if that's what you want."
Willow jerked her hand away from mine and started walking off. I let out a sigh about to turn and walk to my car when I Willow stopped. "Do you ever feel like no one could ever understand you?" She turned around, "like if they found out they would never be able to accept you. "
I sighed, "you have no idea Willow. I have such dark secrets that if you ran I could never even blame you."
I could see her shoulders drop as she relaxed. She had no idea that what I said was nothing if not true. She walked back up to me letting me pull her into my arms. "Stop running Willow."
She laid her head on my chest, "it's all I know how to do."
I shook my head looking up at the night sky. I had never taken any one under my wing. Never had a real girlfriend. I've never cared enough. "You stop now. No more running. No more hiding."
She looked up at me as I looked back down at her, "Maddox my life is fucked up. I can't bring you into it."
I snorted, "baby you know nothing about fucked up. Trust me and let me help you."
Willow looked down, "trust is earned Maddox."
"Then let me earn it," I said leaning down letting my lips caress hers.
"Come back home with me tonight," I said.
She looked up and I could see the worry in her eyes.
"Look Willow, I don't bring anyone home with me ok. If that's not enough to make you realize I'm not playing games with you then I don't know what is."
"I bet you say that to all the girls," she said looking down.
I tilted her chin up kissing her lips, "you know me better than that."
She made a face, "what I know about you doesn't really help your situation any." She looked down, "but I'll give you a chance to prove me wrong."
Pulling her in closer I kissed the skin of her neck, "it's that red hair that makes you so firey isn't it?"
She shoved me away, "don't make me change my mind already damn."
I laughed looking down at her, "come on."
As we got in the truck I waited till she was buckled up and I was moving before I decided to question her. "So what exactly did Rosalyn say to you?"
She looked over at me, "don't you want to know."
I nodded, "I do actually. That girl is delusional."
Willow shrugged, "she came in and asked for you. You had left for lunch when she came in so I told her you were gone. She just smiled and proceeded to tell me her name and how the two of you were dating. She claimed she was coming to surprise you for lunch but that she would just catch up with you later."
I rolled my eyes, "you were mad at me for that?"
Willow shrugged, "how was I supposed to know. I mean you probably fucked her right before you brought me home."
I shook my head as she raised her voice at me. "I did not fuck her before I brought you home. I did have a race that night and if you want to know the truth I was on my way to fuck someone else but I saw you and stopped."
Willow gasped crossing her arms, "are you fucking serious right now?"
I let out an aggravated moan, "look all cards on the table. Since the first night I fucked you I haven't been with anyone else. Yeah so I was going to hook up with some girl but it was to get your stupid ass out of my head because you basically blew me the fuck off."
She snorted, "not used to that, are you? Everyone wants Maddox. No one says no to you do they?"
I looked over at her but didn't reply. The truth was no. Not women anyways. I usually got exactly what I wanted out of them. I shook my head, "you want me to lie to you?"
Willow shook her head, "I don't know what I want from you Maddox."
Parking my truck I led her upstairs. We didn't speak and I had no idea what to say to her that wouldn't cause a fight. Walking in I went and turned the tv on before going to grab a beer. When I turned around she was watching me.
Walking up on her I stopped looking down at her, "you stress me the fuck out."
Willow grabbed my shirt pulling me closer to her. This time it was her lips catching mine. "Just shut up and kiss me, "she said looking up at me.
I smirked down at her licking my lips kissing her again. "I thought you didn't know what you wanted from me."
