Chapter Nine

As the two awoke the next day wrapped up in each other’s arms, they knew they would be moving on to different things that day. They didn’t know what was going to happen but something different in a different place. They bundled their things up in the shopping bag and also layered on the clothes that they did have as they ventured outside for the first time in two days. The snow was above her head as they walked along the carefully made snowbanks.

When they got to the front of the hotel where the main desk was, she walked over to the windows and looked out.

“Roads look driveable.” She said as he walked up behind her.

“Good,” Mitsuhide said as he checked out of the room and they made their way across the street to the cars which had been cleaned prior to them getting there. “We will have to come back and give them a huge tip for this.”

“I was thinking the same.” Kit said with a smile as she unlocked her car door and he stood on the outside of it. “Follow me.”

“Drive slow, Mouse. Though the roads may be clear enough to be on them, they still have ice underneath.” Mitsuhide said.

“This isn’t the first time I have driven in this type weather.” She said with a laugh.

“No, probably not, but it is the first time I have to deal with you driving in something like this.” He said as he looked at her. She wondered how the snow was still there with a look like that coming off of him. it should have melted the snow in a five-mile radius.

“I will.” She said.

“Good girl.” He said as he went to his car and started it up. He pulled out and waited for her to get in front of him. When she did, he watched her move, and he began to follow. The trip across the town would normally take less than ten minutes, but the two cars made it in just over a half an hour. Mitsuhide had been right about the ice under the road as both of them had slipped and slid a few times. When she hit the garage door button, they went up and parked side by side in the empty space. He got out of the car and looked around. She went to unlock the door to the house, and they walked in.

“Nice place.” He said as he looked around. “I have no clue but the way you talked about it I assumed it would be a lot smaller.”

“No, it is a pretty big house. I don’t really use the upstairs it is kind of wasted space. I would never have a roommate or something like that, so it just sits empty for the time being.” She said as she walked around.

“Well, where is this basement you have that I need to check for any other males.” He said softly with a chuckle.

“I was joking.” She said. “The house doesn’t even have a basement.”

“I still should investigate.” He said. “You never know. It is always the ones you would never think about being the weird ones.”

“You are one to talk.” She said. He let out a roar of laughter and made her smile even more. “Here is a hanger for your suit.”

“Thank you. I hate wearing them, and I only have three. I have to try my hardest not to get stuff over them.” He said.

“Maybe you should invest in a few more?” she suggested.

“With the prices of my apartment, I would, but I like to eat sometimes.” He said.

“Then you should definitely move out of the city. I forgot how expensive it is to live there, let alone drive-in,” she said.

“Know anywhere?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I don’t know.” She said with a shy smile.

“Then I will have to think on that. Maybe just maybe somewhere down the line, a place like this one wouldn’t be so bad.” He said as he neared her.

“Oh, really?” she asked as she turned on him.

“I guess my date idea this week got canceled.” He said as he lowered his head.

“Why is that?” she asked.

“Snow.” He said.

“And we can’t have our fourth, fifth, sixth, and so on date right here.” She said.

“I don’t think I have ever had a sixth date before.” He said softly.

“Well, Mitsuhide I think it will all work out as it should.” She said. He took her mouth with his, and they found themselves pressed up against a wall. Her hands-on his chest and his around her waist felt like the best thing in the world to both of them.

“I hope you are right, Mouse.” He said as they stopped kissing and he just looked at her.

“I am not that good of a cook though so we gave up some good food from the hotel.” She said.

“I can’t taste anything, remember?” he said, laughing. “I sure it will be good enough.”

“That is a good thing I assure you.” She said.

“Now, after that drive, we should relax for a bit. Though your place is a bit warmer than the cabin.” He said as he walked over to the couch and sat, she was surprised when she sat down right next to him and curls her legs to the other side but found herself leaning into him. “I think that is one of the best feelings in the world.”

“What is?” she asked.

“You right next to me.” He said as he wrapped an arm around her and she snuggled into him.

“You’re a comfortable pillow.” She said.

“Now no one has ever said that before.” He laughed.

“Well, I am glad to be the first.” She said.

As the day progressed, they fell into a natural silence of two people just happy to be near each other. They watched television for hours curled up with each other. He had to smile at the idea this was something that he wanted and never knew it.

“Do you think tomorrow I could use your computer for a few hours?” he asked.

“I have two so you can use one.” She said without looking at him. “Are you going to do some work?”

“I thought I would close out some of my reports while I am stuck out here.” He said.

“Stuck, huh?” she asked.

“Well, I am stuck out here. I am not saying I am complaining about being out here.” He said.

“Well, that is good.” She said as he could tell she was smiling.

“I think so too.” He said as he moved her slightly closer to him. “I am finding that I like being around someone.”

“Oh, really?” she asked as she turned slightly. “Do I know them?”

“Oh, my little mouse.” He said as he kissed her nose, “I think you might.”

“Mistuhide.” She said as she laughed.

“No sweetheart I won’t ever stop doing that.” He said as he chuckled.

“Pizza?” she asked.

“You have pizza?” he asked.

“And beer too I think. If not, I have some whiskey.” She said.

“I could use one.” He said with a smile. “Need to dull the senses a tiny bit.”

“Oh.” She said. “What do you have to dull?”

“Do you really want to know?” he asked in her ear with a deep voice.

“Why don’t you show me a bit?” she said. He flipped her without seemingly use his arms, and she was now facing him. he reached up and pulled her down and wrapped his hands in her hair. His mouth took hers hard, and she moaned into his mouth. His hand moved to her lower back and pressed her back to him.

“Is that enough or do you want more?” he asked.

“Maybe a little later.” She said with smile.

“You are going to kill me.” He said as he moved closer to her, and he pressed his forehead to hers.

“Oh, Mitsuhide, I doubt that.” She said as she chuckled.

“Kit, I think you don’t have no clue what you do to me.” He said softly.

“I think I do.” She smiled as she looked down at him. “I feel the same.”

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“Look Mitsuhide I like you. I am attracted to you as well.” She said as she kissed his forehead.

“So are we a thing?” he asked softly.

“A thing?” she asked as she laughed.

“Four dates into a weekend with no end in sight. I want you in ways I have. I haven’t anyone before. You seem to feel the same.” He said.

“Mitsuhide I think we are a thing.” She said.

“Thank god.” He replied. “Now a serious question for you.”

“What?” she asked.

“Will you go with me to Nobunaga’s wedding?” he asked.

“I thought this was the point of the date in the first place.” She replied.

“Maybe for Masamune and Lisha.” He said.

“Not for you?” she asked.

“I wanted to see if it was possible.” He said. “I didn’t think I would be given someone like you.”

“Mitsuhide I will go with you to the wedding.” She said with a smile.

“It is an overnight thing.” He said with a grin.

“I think we have already handled all that.” Kit laughed as she stood up and went to the kitchen. She moved around and started their dinner. He sat back and thought of the idea of fate.

He knew she was his now. Everything in him now wanted nothing more than to protect this small female and keep her close to him. He wanted so much more than he could think of. Including ending the investigation into her company and somehow he didn’t think he would be sleeping alone much anymore. He was in love for the first time in his life. he looked at her with hooded eyes and then he decided everything would work out as it should. He believed in fate enough to think that when she was nearby.

He got on her computer a few hours later and sent out an email to her company explaining that he was still investigating however the fact he was stuck outside of the city meant that he would have to use a computer to rely messages. He requested all he could from them without a warrant, and they began sending things to help him, like attendance records and security documents. She walked into the room and looked at him as he was reading and trying to focus on the screen. He looked up and as he saw her and what she was wearing, he stood up. He walked over to her and kissed her into the wall. He lifted her in his arms, and he walked to the room down the hallway.
