Cherishing her

After opening up about their relationship everything seemed much easier. They didn’t have to hide to kiss or to hold hands. It also made Sawyer feel relieved because now he didn’t have any secrets with the people he loved the most.

One week had passed since they came back from that crazy yet amazing weekend at the lake house. Their lives were back to normal, and somehow, everything seemed brighter. The kids were doing good and his mother was recovering just right. The only difference was that Lizbeth and he had to juggle with their schedules.

Even though they were together and lived across the hallway, Lizbeth still slept at her house -to give the family some space, she said-, but she used to go over Sawyer’s when he was working his night shift, so the kids weren’t alone the whole night. Then, in the morning, she and Mrs.Flannagan would get them ready for school. And when Sawyer worked the morning schedule, Lizbeth would be the one picking them up from school and helping them with their homework.

Lizbeth said she was fine with things the way they were, that they had that situation and all they could do was to adapt to it. She said that crying and protesting wouldn’t change anything and would only make everything more stressful for everyone. She had a point and she didn’t know how grateful Sawyer felt for her being there.

It was Thursday and he was on a day off, a totally uneventful day, which he was glad for -he didn’t like drama nor needed it. Sawyer used the morning to clean the house and take Noah for a long walk in the park. Since the kids were around he didn’t have that much time for her and she deserved some pampering too.

He ate some leftovers he had in the refrigerator and took a short nap before going to pick up the kids from school.

When he was waiting for them to get out, his phone vibrated in his pocket.

Liz: Hey! Are you home?

Sawyer: Hey, Kitten! Not yet. Picking the kids from school. Why? You miss me?

Liz: So cocky! I just wanted to know if you had any plans for today

Sawyer: I was thinking about taking the kids to the movies or something. Wanna join?

Liz: Sure :)

Sawyer: I’ll call you when we get home

He knew that Lizbeth was into their relationship as much as he was. Feeling so secure about them after getting his ability to trust shot down to flames was really refreshing and new to him. However, he didn’t know why but since the moment he saw Lizbeth two months before, all his reasoning went out the window. Something inside of him told him his life was about to change.

In the beginning, he thought it was an insane obsession he had with her because he couldn’t stop thinking about her, but luckily, he soon realized that it was just his gut telling him she was the one, and watching her around his kids, the way they connected, just confirmed everything for him. As he wandered around these thoughts, a warm emotion spread in his chest, making him smile.

He put the phone in the back pocket of his jeans, still grinning like a kid. Soon after Sohpia and Adam were getting out of school, with their backpacks swinging as they ran to him. “Hey!” He said when they crashed against him to hug him. “How was school?” He asked.

“Good!” Sophia exclaimed excitedly. He chuckled.

“Glad to hear that... So, what do you want to do today?”

“I don’t know...” Adam responded in a low voice as he looked to his feet.

“I want to go to the moon,” Sophia said as he got them in the car.

“I was thinking that we could go to the movies... What do you think?” He asked, looking at them through the rear-view mirror. Their eyes darted to him.

“Really?” Adam asked.

“Yeah. I thought we could do something different for a change... If you’re fine with it, that is.” Since it was already cold outside, they used to spend weekends at home, playing with Noah, videogames and other homely plans. But after his mother fell from the ladder, he wanted to do different things with them. He was worried that they would think too much about it, and they had already had enough for their short age.

“Yay!” Sophia shouted, grinning from ear to ear. “Can we watch Arctic dogs?” She asked. “A kid from school says it’s really cool.”

“But I want to watch How to train your dragon,” Adam said.

“What about this? We watch the dogs one today and the dragons one in two weeks?” Sophia was still a Baby, but Adam was old and smart enough to handle that. Besides, he was pretty gentle and kind to his little sister.

“Okay!” He grinned.

As soon as they got home, Sawyer helped the kids to shower and get dressed. He was horrible with kids’ fashion and wasn’t sure if the clothes he bought for them were matching and cool enough. He had gotten better with time, but he knew he still had a long way to go. I should ask Liz about this, maybe she’s better with these things, he thought as he looked at them.

The doorbell rang when he was getting ready himself. He had taken a shower before picking them up from school, so that saved him some time. “Adam, can you get the door, please?”

“Yeah!” The kid shouted from the living room where he had left them watching some cartoons.

He heard Lizbeth and Adam talking. He walked out of his bedroom and helped Sophia to put on her coat. “Are you coming to the movies?” The kid asked Lizbeth.

“Yep.”

“Cools!” Sawyer smiled. Hearing them talk as if they had known for a long time made him happy. For Adam, it was hard to open and get fond of other people, but his woman had made a great impression on him.

“Oh! I like your outfit, by the way,” she said. He was wearing a flannel red shirt, with blue jeans and superhero converse. Yes! Sawyer celebrated in his head. “And your sneakers are super!”

“Yeah, they’re cool. Uncle Sawyer bought them for me.” He could sense the smile on his voice. Then Sawyer walked to the door, Sophia running in front of him.

“Liz!” She smiled at her. Her hair was tied in a ponytail and was swinging from side to side.

“Hey, honey!”

“Have you seen my sweater?” She said, pulling from it.

“Oh, it’s so pretty,” she said. She had squatted to her level. “You’re very cute today, young lady.” Sophia giggled. She was wearing a cream color sweater with a knitted bear on it, black pants and her light brown boots.

“Hi, Liz,” Sawyer said as he walked past and kissed her, his hand on the small of her back, dying to do much more that night.

“Why do you kiss her on the mouth?” Sophia asked.

“Because she’s my girlfriend,” he responded, entwining his fingers with hers..

“It’s gross!” She said, scrunching her nose a little.

“You both kiss her too!” he said as he locked the door.

“We kiss her face, not her mouth!” She said running after her brother in the hallway. He laughed at her logic and how easily changed to another thing.

When they were far enough, Sawyer turned to Lizbeth. “You’re gorgeous today. I’m glad you don’t wear those jeans every day. I couldn’t control myself otherwise...” He whispered in a husky voice in her ear. She bit her lower lip and smiled at him.

Her ass looked amazing hugged in those jeans and his mind got a bit too excited. He wished he could see it naked at that moment, right in front of his face. He placed his hand over it and lightly squeezed it, making her gasp. God, I love that sound.

She looked at him surprised and he just smirked. He walked past her, following the kids as if he just said hello. He heard her swear under her breath and that made his grin grow bigger. He loved the effect he had on her.

They got in the car and after driving for fifteen minutes, they finally arrived at the cinema. They bought the tickets, popcorn, and sodas. Lizbeth got herself some sweets too.

“Are you gonna eat all that?” He asked her, raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah, do you have a problem?” She said, checking the chocolates.

“Not really, your ass will get bigger and I’m okay with that.”

She scoffed. “I’d like to see you going every month through those days... I bet you’d be crying like a baby the whole day.”

“Oh. So... We won’t get to...” He trailed off as he saw the kids running to them.

“Unless you want to make your bed like the Texas chainsaw massacre, I’d recommend you to keep it in your pants.”

“Wow! So grumpy!” He laughed.

“Let me live!” She said as she walked away to pay for their snacks.

A while later, they were watching a cartoon movie like a normal family. However, Lizbeth was tense. He glanced in her direction a few times and she seemed lost in thought. She wasn’t paying attention to the huge screen in front of her face and he felt a slight pressure on his chest. She seemed okay with the kids, so maybe it was something from work. Or maybe he had said something that bothered her? -he was an expert on that field.

He looked at her again. She was frowning and her mind was obviously running a mile a minute. He couldn’t help it and worried. He wished the movie was over so he could talk to her.

“Liz?” His voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

“Yeah?” She said.

“The movie is over...” Sawyer looked at her suspiciously as he was towering her.

“Oh, yeah, right. Sorry,” she said as she stood up.

“Where are we going now?” Sophia asked.

“What do you think about this place that has a ball pit?” Sawyer asked, smiling at them.

“Yay!” Both kids shouted at the same time and ran down the stairs.

“What’s wrong?” Sawyer asked Lizbeth.

“Nothing,” she said.

“Liz, I know you well enough to know something is going on inside that head of yours.” He was sure, it didn’t matter how many times she said it was nothing.

“Nah... I’m just not feeling pretty well...”

“Do you wanna go back home?” He asked her, truly worried as she wasn’t one to complain about anything.

“No! It’s fine, it’s just that it’s been a while since it was so painful. And after eating so much candy I’m having nausea too,” she tried to smile at him.

“Do you have anything that can help you to ease the pain?” He asked. “We could look for a drugstore.”

“It’s fine, Sawyer.” Her eyes full of fondness. “Besides, the kids are already outside, we should get going.”

“Okay.” He grabbed her hand and squeezed it. She squeezed back and lightly smiled.

They went out of the cinema, and even though it was November the weather felt nice, so they walked to the restaurant.

Adam and Sophia were both hands in hand with Sawyer, playing, singing the songs from the movie and laughing. Those moments were always his favorites.

He glanced at Lizbeth a couple of times, and relief filled his body. She was walking right behind them, watching them act silly with an honest and warm smile on her face.

After a while, they finally made it to the restaurant. The waiter took them to their table and some minutes later he was taking their orders.

They ate dinner together talking like any other day. The kids were thrilled that they got to spend more time with Sawyer and he was more than happy for having them with him.

Later, when they were done with dinner, the kids went to the playroom. Sawyer and Lizbeth stayed at the table eating dessert. She had ordered a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and he was eating a piece of cheesecake with blueberries.

“Is there anything I can do to help?” He asked out of the blue. He wasn’t pretty good with conversations, much less when it was women’s issues, but he wanted to make her feel better. He grabbed her hand and caressed her, telling her she could talk to him.

“With what?”

“With the pain you said you’re having?” He raised an eyebrow.

“Not really... I’m really sorry I’m so gloomy, I wasn’t feeling so bad in the morning.”

He chuckled. “You don’t have to apologize for that... It’s more than enough for me that you’re here when I bet you’d prefer to roll yourself up in that soft blanket of yours.”

She softly laughed, he was right. “Am I that easy to read?” She asked, her eyes sparkling differently.

“I think it’s more that I know you pretty well.”

“That’s what you think!” She spat.

“Oh?... What is it that I don’t know about you? ’Cause I really think I know how to press the buttons to make you laugh, to make you blush, to make you moan...” He said as he got closer to her, touching her leg all the way up from her knee to her thigh.

“You’re evil...” She almost whispered. It sounded like a pleading and he loved it.

“You have no idea...”

“Shut up!” She said as she slapped his hand.

“I’m just teasing you!” He said laughing as he squeezed her leg. “Oh, by the way, I almost forgot. Since we haven’t gone back home since my mom had the accident, I think I’m going to take the kids there for the weekend.”

“Oh.” She seemed taken aback.

“What’s the matter?” He asked.

“Nothing... It’s just that it’s going to be weird without you or them around.” She shyly smiled.

“Wanna come with us?”

“What? To your parents?” He nodded. “It’s too soon!”

He laughed. “That’s what I thought...”

“I mean, I want to meet them at some point, it’s just...” She fidgeted with a napkin in her hands, nervous.

“My mom is nothing like your ex’s.” Her eyes darted up to him with an apologetic look. “I know you didn’t mean that, and I get that you might feel a bit uncomfortable, but trust me, they’ll love you.” He sweetly smiled at her, trying to reassure her.

“Hmm... What about we all got there on Thanksgiving? It will give me some time to wrap my head around it...”

“You’re so cute when you act like this!” He burst out laughing, feeling his heart throbbing with contentment. She was really refreshing.

“Like what?” A light shade of pink covered her cheeks.

“Like you’re not invincible all the time. It’s nice watching the strong Dr. Ackerman feeling uneasy and nervous about something,” he grinned.

“You’re so mean...” She softly said, averting her eyes.

He grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles. “Thanksgiving. Deal.” He smiled at her when she nodded looking into his eyes. “What about you come to my house and I take care of you when we’re done here?”

“Really?” She arched an eyebrow.

“Yeah, why?”

“’Cause I haven’t, ever, been with someone that cared about how I felt those days...”

“Well, I’m not just anyone. With me, you’ll see what it means to be with a real man,” he smirked.

“So full of yourself!” She exclaimed, rolling her eyes and making him laugh.

It was already half-past ten by the time they were going back home. Sophia was asleep in the back of the car and Adam was trying so hard to keep his eyes open.

When they pulled over in the parking lot, Sawyer took Sophia in his arms and Adam took Lizbeth’s hand. She looked at him confused, but he just sweetly smiled at her. His heart melted watching that scene. His kids accepting the woman he wanted to be with so fast made him feel at ease.

He looked at them as they walked in front of him. They were joking and it had been a long time since Adam had smiled so much.

Suddenly, a shiver ran down his spine. He felt as if someone was watching them. He looked around, but nobody was there. I’m going nuts. He shook his head from side to side and followed Lizbeth into the building.

They walked up to his apartment. Lizbeth helped Sawyer to get the kids in bed as Noah tried to jump. That night there was no storytelling or playing around because in a few seconds they were fast asleep. Sawyer chuckled as he looked at them. He had everything he needed. “Okay, now it’s time to take care of you,” he whispered to Lizbeth, who was standing right beside him.

“What are you going to do?”

“Just let yourself go for one day, okay?”

“Hmm... Okay.” She narrowed her eyes at him.

“Trust me, okay?” He chuckled as he closed the door to his room behind him. “Okay, now strip,” he told her.

“What?” She looked at him with a humorous expression on her face. “You know we’re not having sex, right?”

He huffed. “Duh! But strip and lay down on the bed on your stomach, I’ll be right back.”

“Sure, Mr.Bossy,” she mocked.

“Good girl,” he said as he moved to his bathroom.

It had been some time since he had used the chamomile oil his mother gave him when he injured himself training, but he thought that maybe it could help Lizbeth a bit better, and they couldn’t have sex, but he still wanted to feel her soft skin in his hands.

When he found the bottle, he smiled and walked out of the room with it. Lizbeth was already lying on the bed naked, wearing only her panties. The view of that woman’s body was always so alluring his chest tightened every time. Some people might say she wasn’t exactly exuberant or striking, that other women had longer legs, larger breasts, and biggest rears. But for him, she was the most beautiful thing, inside out, he had seen in his life.

Her presence lit everything around her and the sound of her voice always made his heart flutter with pure bliss. She could be sexy as hell, but she was also humble and so kind there were times he only wanted to hug her. And at that moment, all he could think of was that he wanted to touch her and ease her pain.

“Are you cold?” He asked her as he approached her.

“A little...” She said in a low voice.

“Let me get you something.” He walked into the bathroom again and grabbed a towel to cover her legs. “Better?”

“Yeah, thank you!” She said, looking at him over her shoulder. “What are you doing?”

“Unclothing?” He asked sarcastically.

“I can see that, but—” She stopped talking the moment he got on the bed.

“Just let me know if I’m too heavy, okay?” He whispered as he straddled her.

“Al— Alright,” she stammered.

“I’m going to put this down a little, no funny business, I promise!” He chuckled when she slightly turned back to look at him. Her lower back was fucking sexy, it had a perfect curve, and the three small moles on it made it unique. He bit his bottom lip when her asscheeks showed over the seams of her panties, he did want to fuck her and make her ass bounce with his thrust, just like the first night they were together, but he wasn’t there for that.

He grabbed the oil bottle and poured a little in his hand. He rubbed both hands together to warm it up a little and then his palms delighted with the softness of her skin. “Does it feel good?” He asked as he pressed her lower back, caressing her all the way up to her shoulders.

“Yeah...” She breathed.

“Good.”

He tried to keep applying the same pressure on every part. Her shoulder blades, her middle back, and her lumbar area. She seemed very stiff and she hissed a couple of times when he ran his fingers over a contracture, but after a while, she finally relaxed. He rubbed her back up and down, squeezing in some areas and adding pressure with the palm of his hands in others.

The sweet chamomile wrapped the atmosphere in a gentle silky sheet, turning his room in a flaring sensual yet romantic place. The calm surrounding them was electrifying. He closed his eyes for a few seconds and his skin crawled when all those sensations cradle him.

Her breathing became heavier and deeper. Light whimpers of pleasure rolling from her mouth when he touched her in the right places. Her glowing skin felt amazing under his hands and his cock slightly twitched with longing.

Watching her so powerless, rubbed down with oil under him was always a huge turn on. The desire he felt for her was something he couldn’t put into words, but at that moment it was something beyond that. It was an emotion that made him feel as if he was at the peak of the tallest mountain in the world. It was hard to breathe, painful even, but at the same time, it was a delicious sensation that warmed his chest.

“You’re so beautiful...” He heaved, easing a little the pressure in her chest. She softly chuckled. “I never thought there could be someone like you...”

“Like me?” She asked in a groggy voice.

“Yeah... So perfect.” She lazily giggled.

None of them said anything else. He kept caressing her back for a while longer, emphasizing on her lower back. She had told him that during those days that area and her belly were quite tense and painful and that heat seemed to help.

When a good hour had gone by, he felt his body sinking in a dizzy haze. He leaned forward and kissed her cheek. “I’m going to wash my hands, I’ll be right back.” She just hummed in response, making him chuckle.

He got up with a satisfied smile on his face and went to the bathroom. When he came back, she was already under the comforter. He didn’t hesitate and jumped in too, snuggling his bare torso against her soft, slick back. The smell of the oil mixed with her own natural perfume tingled his nose in the sweetest way. He sighed.

“Are you alright?” She asked.

“Yeah... Just glad you’re here...” He nuzzled her neck, making her giggle, and hugged her, lacing his hands over her belly.

“That feels so good...” She sighed deeply. “Thank you,” she said with a quivering voice.

“Always.” He kissed the spot behind her ear, feeling whole, and soon after he traveled to the land of dreams.
