Healing him

Sophia didn’t have many issues after the accident because she was so young she didn’t really process any of it after the first scary shock, which was a great thing because with the years it would be just like a bad dream for her. Adam, on the other hand, had horrible nightmares. He would wake up crying as he had never done before.

Lizbeth wanted to help him, she knew a lot about traumatic experiences, but all she was able to do was to help him go through the panic attacks because she wasn’t specialized in kids and the mechanism of their brains was so different and delicate.

Sawyer didn’t talk much about it, but he was having a hard time too. Some days, he woke up in the middle of the night, startled by some painful memory in the shape of a dream, not being able to sleep afterwards. She knew because the days he wasn’t working at nights he would meet her in the kitchen, where she was trying to fight her own demons.

It was a hard first month and a half for everyone, but after going to therapy together twice a week helped them to get out of that vicious spiral of recurring fear.

“You’re really going to see her?” Sawyer asked as he sat up on the bed, looking at her while getting dressed.

“Yeah,” Lizbeth nodded as she put on a long white summer dress with a blue floral brocade.

“I don’t think she deserves it. You almost died because of her,” he stated as he got up. Lizbeth’s eyes flicked to his morning glory trapped inside his boxers. It was weird because he couldn’t sleep with clothes on during summer, but he didn’t think much about it as she got lost in that amazing sight for a few seconds.

She bit her bottom lip. “You think we could have a quick one?” she asked as she approached him and grabbed his manhood, making him hiss.

“Liz...” he said in a warning tone of voice.

“Fine,” she pouted, reluctantly letting him go. Since she was discharged from the hospital they hadn’t had sex and she was starting to feel a bit desperate. I don’t know how he can keep it so cool.

He sighed. “I don’t like the idea of you meeting with her… And the fact that your ex is going to be there too, doesn’t help either.”

“I respect that you don’t want to see her again to get over everything that’s happened. I get that it hurts you too much to face a person you once loved after what she’s done, but I have my own way of dealing with things. I need this to turn the page once and for all… And Nick’s going to be there for the exact same reason,” she told him with a pleading look.

“Fine,” he huffed. “Just be careful, okay?” he asked before softly kissing her lips.

“I will,” she reassured him.

“Okay… Well, then, have a good day.”

“You too,” she sweetly smiled at him. “I’ll see you tonight. Kiss the kids for me.”

“Will do,” he chuckled.

She walked out of the room, got everything into her briefcase, said goodbye to Noah, and left the apartment.

After twenty minutes of driving, with a turmoil of thoughts and feelings invading her, she finally reached her destination. She pulled the car in the parking lot and looked to the white building in front of her. She sighed, only to jump on her seat when a knock on her window made her come back to the real world. Jeez!

“Hey,” Nicolas greeted her with a small smile when she opened the door.

“Hey, Nick,” she nodded as she stepped out of the car.

“How are you?” he asked with an apologetic look. “I heard about the accident… Thought about calling you a few times, but…”

“It’s fine,” she smiled at him, aware that she would have felt the same. “And I’m doing good. What about you?”

“Trying to get back my life,” he bitterly chuckled. “It’s been hard for a while. Even though they dropped the charges it had already gone out in the newspaper and you know how my family is with appearances… Not that it’s been any easier at work, it sure has affected my reputation as a lawyer, but well...” he rolled his eyes. “Not much I can do about it, except work hard to prove them wrong.”

Seeing how Maggie had destroyed everyone hurt her. Nicolas had worked really hard all his life to get where he was, trying not to use his last name to climb up in that ocean of sharks, and now he had to start all over again.

“Yeah…” she agreed as they made their way into the mental institution. “I’m sorry you got caught up in all this mess.”

“It’s not like you’re the one that introduced her to me. It was just an unlucky coincidence that turned bad because of the choices she made.”

“You’re right, but still… I feel like I’m the one to blame.” She bitterly chuckled.

“You’ve always been like that…” He gave her a small smile. “Anyway, I’m glad you’re doing so good…” he said, a tint of sadness filling his voice.

“Thank you,” she smiled at him, not knowing what else to say.

Looking at him, she realized she had gotten rid of all the pain from the last months they shared and there were only the good things. She didn’t regret the time they were together. He had always been a really sweet and kind man with eyes full of dreams. She was now with the man she had to be with, the love of her life, but she learned a lot from life during that time and wouldn’t change it for anything. “I’m happy to see that you’re on the right track too.” She meant it, she didn’t wish anything but happiness for him.

“Thanks, couldn’t ask for anything else at the moment.”

“Good morning,” the nurse at the front desk greeted them.

“Hi! We’re here to see Maggie Summers,” Nick told her.

“Let me check…” she muttered while looking at the screen of the computer. “Nick Rogers and Lizbeth Ackerman?”

“Yeah,” she confirmed.

“Okay, she’s already waiting for you. Do you have anything sharp with you?”

“Huh?” Nick asked, a bit confused.

“Ms.Summers is doing good at the moment, but not every patient is like that,” the nurse explained.

“Oh… I’m… No, I don’t have anything sharp with me, just a pen?”

“That’s fine,” the nurse slightly grinned. “Just walk down the hall, until you get to the double door at the end.”

“Thanks,” Lizbeth nodded.

After getting into jail, Maggie suffered a peak in the psychotic break she was in and so they moved her into a mental institution.

After hurting an officer she tried to kill herself and that’s when they decided to dig into her past, only to find out that her uncle, a man she never met because he died before she was born, had schizophrenia. Psychosis and hallucinations were the normal things for him until he committed suicide.

It’s not that a disorder like that could be inherited, but when mental issues ran in the blood, it wasn’t that weird that other members of the family developed some problems themselves. Much more if they had an unstable childhood. But losing the chance of having babies and her brother within a few months, triggered a hell inside Maggie’s head.

She was sitting at a table near a window. The early morning light showering her as she looked out of the window, lost in thought. “Hey…” Nick said as they approached her.

“Hey, guys…” She gave them a small smile.

“How are you doing?” Lizbeth asked her as she sat across the table.

“Better than a few months ago,” she sarcastically said.

“Good,” Lizbeth simply nodded.

“Why did you call us?” Nick asked —a couple of weeks before, her lawyer had called both of them with Maggie’s request of seeing them.

She looked between them for a few seconds. “I…” She paused. “I know this is not going to change anything, and I don’t expect you to forgive me, but I needed to apologize.”

Lizbeth was taken aback by her words, she didn’t expect that at all. “With the meds, my mind is clearer, but... After getting my brother sentenced to death I was so angry, and then I lost everything when we lost our baby,” she frowned, looking at the table. “All I ever wanted was to be a mom and have a huge loving family but that dream was taken away from me. I know it’s not an excuse for what I did to you…” She looked at Lizbeth. “You have everything I ever wanted. I always felt jealous of the way Sawyer talked about you. I think he was always in love with you but he wouldn’t admit to himself… He liked me and stayed with me probably because he knew about all the drama in my life… I guess he didn’t want to add anything else to it. He’s always been a kind one and wanted to help me. Just like you did when I got pregnant,” she said, looking at Nick now.

“I think you’re wrong,” Lizbeth stated, feeling a bit annoyed by her statement. “I don’t think Sawyer stayed with you just for pity. Maybe it started like that, but I know he was very fond of you. His feelings were real. Sawyer is not like that. If he didn’t love you he wouldn’t have stayed.” She clearly remembered the times she went back home for holidays and saw them together. Even if deep down he still loved her, he was with Maggie at that moment and he never faked anything when he was with her. As much as it hurt Lizbeth, he loved her.

“And about me… Well, I was still trying to recover from our break up, but Maggie… I really liked you, you were a great support and brought so much light into my life. I’d have given anything to take that pain away…”

She looked at them, dumbfounded. Then, she burst out crying. “I’m so sorry!” Her voice breaking. “I never wanted to hurt anyone, not you or the kids… Oh, my God! The kids!! I… I’m so sorry!” Her face twisted with pain and agony while her cries flooded the room, making everyone turn to them.

Lizbeth guts twisted with agony. She hated her for a while when she started dating Sawyer, but then she got used to it. She hated her when she kidnapped her and the kids. She hated her with all her might because she almost got them killed.

Those dark emotions had been haunting her since the accident, slowly rotting her soul. She tried to suppress them because hatred was a vile feeling that only drained energy, but her mind needed to focus the rage and sorrow on the person that had caused all that. And now they were mixing with sorry feelings.

Maggie wasn’t her favorite person in the world, but until that fatidic day she had never really done anything to her, and what she did, she did it under a psychotic state. Her reasoning telling her that Lizbeth was the one to blame for all the bad things that had happened to her. From losing Sawyer to Nick and the baby to her brother.

After some time sobbing her heart out, the nurses approached them and gave her a tranquilizer before taking her back to her room, asking them to leave.

“That was…” Nick started as they walked out of the building.

“Yeah…” None of them finding the words to describe what had just happened.

“I don’t understand how this… Mental thing works and I’m a bit confused right now.”

“I know how it works and it took me with the guards down too, don’t worry,” she gave him a small smile.

“Yeah…” He rubbed the back of his head and then heaved a sigh. “This is just too much.”

“It is… But here she’ll get the help she needs.” Lizbeth gestured to the building with her head. “Do you think that even if she’s convicted they’ll bring her back here?” Lizbeth asked, a bit worried.

“Her lawyer is a good one, and he’ll probably be able to get her back here. She committed a lot of crimes from perjury, to kidnapping to attacking a man working for the law enforcement… But in the end, nobody died.”

“Yeah… I hope so… Just like her brother, she really needs help. Going to jail wouldn’t solve anything.”

“Well… He could be sick too, but as far as I know, he was well aware of what he was doing, at least part of his brain… Whatever. And he did torture and killed several women.”

“Right… But still.”

“I think he got what he deserved and I hope Maggie gets help, she’s young and can still try to have a normal life when she’s over this.”

“I hope so too.”

After a whole day working, Sawyer finally got home. “Welcome back, Babe,” Lizbeth said as she heard the door.

“Hey, Kitten.” He leaned down to kiss her. “How was your day?” he asked as he left his bag on the floor and began to undress.

“Good… How was yours?”

“Uneventful. The kids?”

“They’re already in bed. Sophia protested a little because she wanted you to kiss her good night, but I told her that you’d do it when you came back, even if she was already asleep. Oh! And I also took Noah for a walk.”

“God… You’re the best.” He smiled. “How was it with Maggie?”

“Strange,” she admitted.

“Told you so.” He shrugged. “That woman’s sick…”

“She is, that’s why I wanted to hear whatever she had to say.”

“And what was that?” he asked as he let himself fall on the couch beside her.

“She actually apologized.”

“That’s not enough for what she did,” Sawyer simply stated. “She took my kids away, risked their lives, and almost killed you. Whatever she says won’t ever be enough to erase all the trouble and pain she caused.”

“You know that those feelings won’t get you anywhere, right?” She understood him, she still felt all that, but she wanted to let go. She was tired of being angry.

“I know, but I don’t think I’ll be able to forget about this as easily as I forgot about her cheating on me.”

“She said that… You never really loved her and I think that’s why, in that hazy state of mind, she blamed me for you leaving her.”

“That’s completely untrue,” Sawyer snorted. “Did she forget about she fucking another man?”

“She's sick. She doesn’t see the world the way we do, she can’t reason as we do… And well, she thinks you always loved me to some extent.” She didn’t want to defend her, but mixing a latent psychotic disorder and a traumatic event was like building a bomb.

Sawyer sighed in defeat. “Well… Can’t blame her for that. I was with her and would have never cheated on her or anything. I really liked what we had… but, even though I was scared and never said it, I guess… I always loved you.”

Lizbeth smiled at him and kissed him on the cheek. “Then stop frowning. We’ve gone through hell, and I don’t know what I’d have done if it were you the one that almost died… But we survived. We’re alive and the kids are doing great lately…” She trailed off.

“Smooth talker.” He softly chuckled, his body relaxing a bit under her touch.

“Yeah, but you know I’m right. We have to keep moving forward and live our lives the best way we can.”

“This is why I love you so damn much...” he whispered as he tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, staring deep into her eyes as he did. Then, he kissed her.

It was gentle and sweet at the beginning, but when he pulled her closer to him as if he needed her to breathe, the pool between her legs soaked her panties —almost two months without sex, watching that Greek God walking around almost naked all the time was torture.

She bit his bottom lip, dragging a soft moan out of him. Feeling her whole body coming to life as he deepened the kiss. She slid her hand up his leg until she touched his aching, swollen bulge.

“I think I’m gonna take a shower,” he said all of a sudden, breaking the kiss and walking away.

Okay, dude, what’s wrong with you? She followed him into the bathroom. “Sawyer, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing, why?” He turned to look at her.

“Oh, really? You’ve been avoiding me for almost two months— Don’t!” She said putting a finger up when he opened his mouth to talk. “You’re always tired, or feeling like watching a movie. Every time I touch you you literally run away, just like you did now. Damn, you won’t even look at me when I’m naked in front of you. What’s going on?” She was starting to feel really worried.

After getting the kids in bed, she had changed her yoga pants for a black silky nightgown, knowing he loved it and always fucked her numb when she wore that. Had he lost interest in her?

“Nothing,” he huffed as he crossed his arms over his chest. “I just didn’t shower at work and I’m all sweaty.”

“Then, let’s shower together,” she pressed.

“I…”

“See?” She pointed to his face. “What is it? Are you seeing someone?” It’s the only thing that made sense for her anymore.

“What?” He grimaced. “No fucking way!” He frowned.

“Then what is it?”

“I… Ugh!” He rubbed his face, frustrated. “I just don’t want to hurt you, okay?” he blurted out.

“What?” she asked, completely lost.

“I don’t want to hurt you, and I’m afraid that if we have sex I’ll do it...”

Lizbeth took off the nightgown, standing in front of him with just a tiny black thong covering her. “Is it because of the accident?” She pointed to the slightly reddish purple scar on her belly.

“Why else would it be?”

“You should have said something sooner. I was thinking the worst…”

“I’m sorry.” He averted his eyes. “I just—”

“Touch me.”

“What?”

“Touch me,” she said in a low voice as she grabbed his hand and brushed his fingers over her scar. “You won’t hurt me.”

She was the one with physical pain and scars, but the wounds he was carrying inside would need more time to heal after watching her bleed and almost die.

“Liz, I don’t know…” He put his forehead to hers as he shaky hands gently caressed her waist, making a shiver run up and down her spine. “There’s no way I’d ever stop loving this,” he whispered as his fingers graced the sides of her breasts, taking her breath away. “I just—”

“I need you, Babe,” she pleaded.

His eyes flicked from her lips to her eyes, sinking there with a beautiful nebula of longing swirling inside of them. Without saying another word, he reached to her underwear and pulled it down, caressing her legs all the way up as he stood up again.

He grabbed her hand and walked into the shower, opening the tap and letting the water run down his sculptural body. He threw his head back and ran a hand through his wet hair, sighing as he did. When he looked at her again, she saw it, that spark that always made her weak on the knees.

He grabbed the coconut-scented soap and lathered himself with it, rubbing every part of his body, his eyes never leaving hers. Then he did the same to her, and she couldn’t hold the moan when he touched the spot where she needed him the most.

He pulled her to him under the water, and as the soapy layer slipped down their skin, he smiled at her with such affection, it even hurt. Then, he traced a line from her shoulder to her wrist, lighting a fire on her skin.

With a hand to her lower back, he pressed her body closer to his. She didn’t say or do anything, just watched his every move getting excited with anticipation, letting the love burning in his eyes cradle her.

He kissed her sweet and soft first, becoming bolder with every second. Their lips slightly parted, allowing their tongues to swirl around each other in that sensual battle she loved so much.

She laced her fingers in his hair with one hand as her other hand clutched to his shoulder, digging her fingernails in his muscles. She had missed him so much.

When she felt the pressure in her core prompting her to get him inside of her, she moaned. His hardening cock slipping between her legs was a delicious sensation, but she didn’t want to rush things, she wanted to pleasure him, to feel him.

They kept kissing for a while, caressing their bodies in the most delicious way, enjoying their time together as if the clock wasn’t ticking. She loved the way his tongue claimed hers, with raw desire and love.

She slightly pulled away, and locked her eyes with his, both of them panting. She placed a soft peck on his lips and slowly went down.

“You don’t have to—”

“I want to.”

She kneeled in front of him and kissed his swollen cock as she grabbed it with one hand, making him hiss. She flicked her tongue around it, teasing him a little before she took him fully into her mouth.

Sawyer groaned, throwing his head back and putting a hand on the tile wall to keep the balance. “Fuck…” he breathed.

She began to suck him slowly, getting him as deep as she could and pressing her lips to add pressure on his tip, her tongue gently swirling around him all the time. Then, he entangled his fingers in her hair, guiding her. God, she craved that so bad!

She loved the way he responded to her actions. His muscles were so tense he was almost trembling. She kept moving her head back and forth, stroking him with a hand at the same time. His breathing became so heavy that the water running didn’t stifle that alluring sound.

She continued pleasuring him and, soon, the bittersweet flavor of his precum titillated her taste buds, making her dripping wet.

Sawyer gently touched her shoulder. “If you continue like this, you’re gonna finish me,” he told her between paintings.

She took him out of her mouth and squinted her eyes, looking at him through the water curtain. “I want you, Sawyer.”

It was just a flash, but she didn’t miss the lust crossing his eyes as he clenched his jaw. He didn’t say anything and just nodded.

She took him in her mouth again, delighting herself with the sensations wrapping around them. As she took him fully in, she moved one hand between his legs and fondled his balls, making him groan.

Soon after, his breaths began to come out sharp and short. “Fuck… I’m gonna cum, Babe…” he told her with a husky voice.

A second later, his orgasm exploded, filling her mouth with his bittersweet cream, making her feel so fucking satisfied.

She slowly took him out and he gasped. “Holy fuck…” he breathed with his eyes still squeezed shut as he leaned his back against the tiling wall.

“Are you okay?” she asked as she got up, wiping her lips with her thumb after swallowing everything.

“Yeah…” he said as he looked at her, a gorgeous smile plastered on his face. Then, his eyes darkened even more as he leaned to kiss her, grabbing her neck. “Let’s get out of here… I’m gonna make love to you like no one ever before.”
