I Dare You, Alpha Grey

27 - Loyalty

He felt his wolf tugging at him to go back to his mate. The beast was ecstatic to hear her reply during the call but Grey was too coward to face the possibility of her not saying it back and ended it abruptly.

He sighed.

They would have to have that conversation on another day. Today was all about her. He'll train his focus solely on the ceremony.

He returned to dressing himself in a white long-sleeved polo short and dress pants. He was excited to officially announce her to everyone as his Luna, to publicly and verbally lay his claim. It was only a few hours left before it happens.

A knock on the door interrupted him. Frowning, he opened it.

"Is something wrong?" he asked the blonde wolf in front of him.

He recognized Ivy's scent before she came in but was clueless as to why she was here.

"So today's the day, huh?" she eyed him.

Grey's jaw ticked. Even though she had much respect for the warrior shewolf, the memory of her hurting his mate was engraved in his mind.

"Yes. Is there something important you have to tell me, Ivy?" he asked as he took a seat on his office chair. He kept himself busy with the unsigned papers on his desk, making it clear that he wasn't interested in prolonging the conversation.

Ivy knew this. Even though she and him were close in the past, he made it crystal clear that things have changed. He was irritated of her presence which made her hate the soon-to-be-Luna more.

"Don't worry, I'll be quick," she assured him.

"Then speak, I don't want to be late for my mate's big day," his eyes trained on her, suspicion swirling in it.

"She will visit soon," those four words she uttered made him sit straight in his chair.

"She won't be able to enter my territory without my permission," he calmly stated but deep inside he was far from it.

He was honestly seconds away from ripping the disrespectful wolf in front of him but he restrained himself. He can't have blood on his hands before Xam's big day.

"Then she won't enter. Just please, hear my sister out. You've helped other packs with the same problem, so why not aid her the same help?" Ivy tested his patience.

How dare she question his decisions? He was alpha, the strongest alpha out there who was on top of his game and this feeling entitled shewolf dare to barge in his office to question him?

"I don't answer to wolves lower than me. My decision is final. Let her come but I won't speak to her. Let her in the territory and I will see to it that you get to witness me rip her to shreds," he firmly said.

"How could you do this? My sister was nothing but nice to you! After everything she did--" Grey stood up from his chair and growled at her, forcing her to reveal her neck in submission.

"Get the fuck out of here," his voice was low and dark. Dangerous.

"Shaniah wouldn't have wanted you to act lik--"

"Shut the fuck up! It doesn't matter what she wants. My mate and pack goes above everything else. Defy me again with that tongue and I will cut it off of you right here," his eyes were glowing a bright orange, claws elongated and fangs showing, "Accept that I don't give a single fuck about her anymore and respect your Luna, wolf. Or else."

His threat was full of promises. The feared alpha was appearing right in front of her. Ivy's wolf couldn't help but whimper at the power his wolf was protecting to her. It was making her wolf run in circles, crying out for help.

Just in time, Matteo barged in. He felt the power of his alpha radiating through the bond and he was sure everyone in the pack had felt it too. If his best bud won't stop, hundreds of wolves will be frozen in their spot unable to do work, kneeling for him.

"Grey," he called out to him.

The alpha's attention snapped to him.

"Luna Xamantha is ready, would you like me to get her?" he thought diverting his attention to the Luna would work. It did but not in a way he expected it to be.

"I don't want you laying a single finger on my mate," his chest heaved, trying hard to control his wolf, "I don't want anyone touching her unless I say so. I will link my mother, she will accompany Xam. Do you understand?"

Matteo nodded.

As he studied his alpha, he realized Xam was right. Grey was really acting so possessive than usual. Something was wrong.

"Leave," Grey commanded and the two wolves left his office.

"What the fuck did you do, Ivy?" Matteo glared at her. She was starting to become a troublesome wolf.

"None of your business," she bit back rudely.

"Yeah? Keep it up and you'll end up dead within this week. Stay out of the Donovan's problem and show some loyalty to your own pack," he warned.

Vashti looked at Xam worriedly, soothing her back as she was crouched on the bathroom floor, puking. Earlier she found her staring at a wall, blushing. She seemed fine then and during their preparation but not until their afternoon snacks came.

The ceremony was fast approaching but they were far from looking presentable.

"Are you sure you're okay, hun? He won't be mad at you if we postpone it some other day, you know," she told her.

Xam shook her head as she tidied herself up.

"I'm fine," she reassured her.

"Don't you think we should go to the pack doctor?" Vashti was adamant to have her checked, "Maybe we could get you something there to relax your nerves."

She appreciated her offer but declined.

She had thrown up after smelling the cinnamon rolls a pack member had delivered for refreshments. In the process, she stained her dress with her partly digested lunch.

"No, I think it's just a stomach bug," tears built up in her eyes, "Oh my Goddess, I ruined the dress."

She was about to start her mental breakdown but Vashti helped her up and embraced her.

"Nonsense, we'll get another dress," she reassured her.

"But this was the only white dress I have and Grey had Matt get it for me," she chewed her bottom lip.

Vashti stared at her for a minute. As a mother, she didn't like her children getting upset. Even though they weren't of the same bloodline, she saw Xam as family already and was desperate to take away her sadness. Plus, it was her big day!

Suddenly, her face lit up like a light bulb.

"Don't you have Luna ceremonies back at Raven Black Pack?" her cheeks stretched out to a wide grin.

"Yes, of course we do. Why?" Xam looked at her confused.

"And what do Lunas wear mostly?"

Xam caught up to her idea but politely shot it down.

"I don't know if the pack would appreciate me breaking tradition here," she explained.

"Oh nonsense, wear your most presentable tribal outfit. It is part of your tradition, the people here should start getting used to it. You are their Luna after all," Vashti's eyes sparkled in excitement.

"Do you really think so?"

"I'm sure of it."

Suddenly a surge of power washed over them. It called for attention and submission. It lasted for a couple of minutes and then it was gone.

"What was that?" Xam's eyes widened.

"It seems like somebody angered him," Vashti sighed, "We should hurry, dear. Your alpha mate is already irritated enough. We can't afford to be late to your own ceremony."

Surprise, surprise... Ivy is Shaniah's sister. Grey is pissed and Xam's gonna wear her own Luna ceremony outfit. Drama during the official announcement? Hmmm...
