Sleep On It

Pamela threw her arms around me as we sat in the limo on our way home; without drawing breath, she screamed joyously, ecstatically, and so piercingly that it set my ears tingling.

You were with Kylo King!! Kylo the freakin’ King!!” She shrieked. “I can’t believe it! Somebody pinch me! I can’t believe it!” Mel threw herself back on the leather seat and covered her face with her hands.

I nonchalantly shrugged, pretending not to care when she mentioned his name. “Oh, him...yeah, I was.”

Mel gave me a smack on my shoulder and we collapsed back as we burst into a fit of convulsive giggles.

My friend gave me a side glance and smiled.“No need to be so modest now.”

“It’s all so surreal...” I said as I glided my fingertips over my forehead. “I still can’t believe that I just spent the night knocking back drinks with Kylo King...Gosh!” Goosebumps broke out across my skin and I blinked a few times as I try and let it sink in.

“You’re so lucky!!” she shook me by the shoulders as she threw back her head and groaned loudly.

“Oh, but you’re going to totally hate me when I tell you that...”

“He kissed you!” She gasped.

“Even better...”

“You had -you sly little minx!” She gaped, mischief in her eyes. “That's why he gave instructions to his security detail that the only time he wanted to be disturbed was if there was a fire. He wouldn’t let anyone close to you guys.”

“So when and where?? Was he good? I’m sure it was the best se-”

“No!” Embarrassment flooded me as I realized what she was insinuating. “I didn’t sleep with him, Pamela!” I strongly refuted the accusations. “Gosh! I know I was fangirling but what do you take me for?”

“ bad then,” she raised up her palms. “But what could be better than that?”

“I got the interview!” I gave her a triumphant smile and played her the recording.

The news bounced around her head, first in disbelief, then in shock. “Get outta here!!!”

“You can thank me later...” I winked as she grabbed the phone out of my hands.

“Madison is going to do a headstand when she gets a load of this!!”

I smirked up at her. “I was hoping for a piggy-back ride.”

“You have a message from..Commander?” Mel handed my device back to me.

“It’s Ren,” I smiled at the screen as I read the message.

“I think I’m going to sleep,” she snuggled against my shoulder. “Wake me up when we get to the hotel.”

REN: Rise and shine kitty-kat!

LYNN: Negative. I am actually on my way home Commander.

REN: You really know how to party like a rockstar dontcha kitten?

LYNN: All I can say is, it was a good night and it’s all thanks to you.

REN: Did you get some?

LYNN: What?? Of cos not! What kind of question is that?

REN: A question that shows you your night wasn’t as good as you’re letting on sweetheart.

LYNN: Did you get any my special perv?

REN: Are you offering kitten?

LYNN: And there he is ladies and gents- Commander Pervert himself.

REN: Admit it kitten? You like it when I talk dirty to you?

LYNN: Wouldn’t have it any other way pudding-pie.

REN: Music to my ears pudding-pop.

LYNN: Why are you awake at this hour or didn’t you sleep?

REN: Something like that. I have a favor to ask?

LYNN: I think after what you did for me, I owe you one. Hit me with it.

REN: Ooh, there’s nothing that would give me more pleasure than to do that kitten.

LYNN: Don’t bite off more than you can chew...

REN: Not only will I chew babe, but I’m ready to suck and lick too...

LYNN: The favor?

REN: Getting out of the kitchen kitten? Heat too much for you?

LYNN: Focus Commander.

REN: If only you knew babe. If only you knew...

LYNN: Favor before I change my mind.

REN: I’m going to send you a VN. Is that okay?

Oh yes, please do. At least I can put a voice to the name I have fantasized about for weeks.

LYNN: Shoot.

REN: Babe, you’re killing me with all these sexual innuendos.

LYNN: You only have yourself to blame.

A brief silence ensued as the limo halted at the front entrance and Mel and I stumbled through the hotel lobby at the break of dawn. I helped her to bed and shuffled through the adjoining door and stripped off my clothes before I dove under the covers.

My phone vibrated on the nightstand and I stretched out my arm to reach for it, while my eyes were still closed. My eyes snapped open when I noticed Ren had sent the promised voice note. With trembling fingers, I pressed play and his deep, husky, sensual voice drifted through the room. It sounded kinda familiar but maybe I was just tired.

“Hey, kitten...”

OMG! I think my ovaries just combusted!

“I’m sorry if I sound sleep deprived...”

Oh no, no, sound perfect... I gulped the lump in my throat as butterflies swam in my midsection.

“I probably am. Actually I am. But that’s not the reason I-it’s not the favor I needed to ask. I don’t how to say this so I’m just going to go out and say it. I don’t know if you feel or think the same way, but I was thinking-hoping actually- that we could, uhm, meet up? I’m sorry if you think I’m being too forward or if I’m freaking you out-but-I would really like to meet you, Oaklynn Turner. The curiosity is literally killing me, babe... You have no idea-I-I just gotta see you. I really, really need to see you. More than I’ve ever needed anything in my life to be honest... So please sleep on it or whatever it is that you girls do, then let me know okay? Goodnight Lynn.”

I hugged the phone against my chest, too stunned to move. He wanted to meet me... He really wanted to see me. My heart raced and hammered against my ribs as I thought about finally feasting my eyes on him. What would I do? What would we talk about? What if he was ugly? What if he wasn’t my type? But with a voice like that... What if we didn’t get along in person? What if? What if? So many what-ifs...

My brain was too tired to comprehend any of this so I did exactly what Ren suggested.

I went to sleep.
