“So shut your angry eyes cause there ain’t nothing here to see…” I opened my eyes and scanned the bar, watching as everyone clapped except for one guy. He was sitting, sipping a glass of whiskey and staring at Adriana, the bartender and my best friend. She was really a beautiful person, with a slim body and gorgeous curly red hair.

I have been watching him since two months now, yet he never noticed me. He would come, drink a glass of whiskey, try to talk to Adriana and then leave in anger, huffing.

From what my best friend has told me, he was trying to get her to go on a date with her but she declined his each and every approach. Why, you may ask? Because although Adriana was a nice best friend, she always liked guys who were wealthy just like my neighbor, Jonathan is who is the one she’s currently talking to.

I always had a crush on Jonathan. He was a nice and great neighbor though he never talked me. He did, though one day, walk up to me to ask Adrian’s number and that’s it. I wasn’t a jealous type but the ache I felt that day and one month ago when Adriana told me the guy from the bar namely Dominic, was unbearable.

I walked through the huge crowd of sweaty people and marched with determined steps towards Dominic. I was dressed for the first time in a dress which was hugging my curves elegantly and was wearing make up which Adriana helped with.

“Hey” I said as I slid into the chair next to him.

He barely glance at me and continued staring at Adriana. I ignored the pang in my heart and looked at him admiringly. He was even more handsome and bulkier from this close.

“I am Christine. What’s your n-“

“If I don’t reply once, it means I don’t want to talk to you. Got it?” He sneered as he looked at me in disgust. He slammed his glass on the counter and got up, ready to take a leave.

“Hey, who do you think you are talking to my best friend like that?” I looked at Adriana shocked, wondering why she would want to risk her job like this.

Dominic turned around and looked at her then at me for a split second before sliding his eyes towards Adriana again.

“Hey, She’s your best friend?”

He looked at me with a smirk on his face and walked out of the bar, his steps confident and graceful.

“What a jerk! Come on Christine, my shift is over. Let’s go home.”

My head was pounding. I didn’t sleep at all last night due to the disgust I felt towards myself. I was the one on the bigger side in my family with big hips, thighs and breasts. My high school and college years were the worst with all the bullying.

*Knock* *Knock*

I frowned at the door and looked at the clock curiously, wondering who was here at 7:00 am.

To say I was shook was an understatement because before me stood Dominic.

He was looking handsome as always, with some jogging pants and a white t-shirt, sweat covering his body.

“Hey” I said shyly with my head bowed and shifting awkwardly before him.

“I wanted to apologize about last night.”

I looked at him shocked and stuttered,”A-Apologize? But why?”

“I spoke to you very harshly, that’s why. I have been feeling very guilty about it and haven’t slept much due to it.”

I blushed furiously and tugged at the long shirt I was wearing.

“That’s okay. I accept your apologies.”

He rubbed the back of his neck and stared deeply in my eyes, chuckling softly.

“I wanted to ask something as well. Would you like to go on a date with me?”

“A date? With you? I-I don’t know..” I said as I looked at my slippers.

His huge warm hand gripped my chin and turned my head upwards, smirking slightly. “I won’t take no for an answer.”
