Chapter 2

Michelle woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs cooking. A smile came across her face, thinking Cody was making peace with his brother, come to find out he was still in bed with her.

A quick glance at her phone showed it was 9 am. Shit! I feel awful sleeping in even though it was Sunday. She should be the one cooking for the Davidson brothers, not Daniel.

She quietly got of bed, went to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth, before heading to the kitchen.

"Good morning," she greeted Daniel softly as she walked towards the stove. She had been as silent as she could to approach him, but she failed to scare him.

"Good morning," he said, completely unfazed by my scare tactic.

"How did you not jump out of your skin right now?" I had to ask. He scared the shit out of me last night.

He turned to me and smiled. "Call it my sixth sense," was the sarcastic response that came out of his mouth.

"You look handsome with bedhead."

He nearly dropped the fork he was holding and looked at her. Fuck, did I just say that out loud.

Oh God, what's he going to say?

He simply smiled. "I don't get that compliment often, so thank you. And you um... you look gorgeous."

I couldn't help but blush. "But seriously, how did I not startle you?!"

"Okay, okay. I'll tell you, just because your pouting like a child." I smiled and punched his shoulder playfully. "I heard someone enter the bathroom and seeing as Cody isn't a morning person, I figured it was you."

It seems the only way I can find things out about Cody is from his brother.

"So, you want them scrambled?" her thoughts spinning in her head stopped.

"Yes, please, that would be nice."

5 minutes later, I was sitting next to him, eating in a comfortable silence. I had to admit his cooking skills were amazing. As simple as making bacon and an omelet wasn't like anything she's ever tasted.

"I'm glad you like it."

"Did you add something to the eggs?"

"Yes, cheese."

"What kind?"

"My secret," he whispered in her ear.

I laughed. "So, your a good architect, a decent cook, and as silent as a mouse. What else are you good at?"

"Many things." His eyes were filled with both amusement and mischievous.

I felt my cheeks start to turn red. "I.... I didn't mean it like that."

He chuckled. "You don't need to feel self-conscious around me," he whispered softly and patted my shoulder. "You can speak your mind as much as you'd like."

"Like me saying I think your bedhead is sexy?"

"Yes. Not in class though. That would be very bad of you," he winked.

She was sure the Southern California Institute of Architecture of Los Angeles would not approve of a teacher-student relationship. That's in the classroom. All the things we could do outside of the classroom are nothing but pure fantasy.

I started to laugh and he joined me right after.

"Having the time of your life I see?"

I looked up to see Cody. I hate to admit it, but I completely forgot about him.

"Just an innocent laugh to start the day," Daniel informed him. "What's wrong with that?"

"Nothing," Cody mumbled in anger.

"He's such a buzz kill," Daniel rolled his eyes while looking at Michelle.

"I am not!" Cody denied immediately.

"Whatever floats your boat man," was his cocky response. "Do you want your eggs scrambled?" he asked as he rose to his feet.

"I don't want eggs, thank you very much," was the rude comment Daniel got in return.

"Well, someone's cranky."

"Don't start with me!"

Michelle stood up and helped him with the dishes then came back and sat down.

"You're not a morning person so as a gesture of courtesy, I'm not starting anything." Daniel said as he sat next to Michelle.

"Just leave me alone," Cody said clearly irritated, itching for another fight with Daniel. He looked at Michelle and asked in an accusing tone, "Why didn't you wake me up?"

"You were sleeping, I didn't want to bother you," she replied softly, completely unfazed by his suspicious demeanor. She had been warned by Daniel already.

"You didn't want to bother me or you didn't want ME to bother YOU?" Cody's eyes were deadly daggers, and Michelle had to hold back the feisty comment she wanted to badly to shoot back at him.

Before she opened her mouth, Cody was slapped on the back of his head. "Hey!" he turned to his brother in flat out anger.

"Keep this bullshit up and I WILL snatch your girlfriend from you," Daniel told him with a smirk on his face.

Cody scowled at him. His brother had never actually taken any girlfriend from him. It was always vice versa. She'd go to his brother instead of him. "You wouldn't dare!"

"Oh, try me! She's a pretty sight to look at, I'll take her away from you, bud. Keep that in your mind." That response kept Cody completely silent.

Am I falling for Daniel? Does he feel the same way?? He seemed so protective over me.
