Fire With Fire

Saturday mornings are normally pretty relaxing. Normally the fire calls are during the night around here. Thankfully they are as frequent as some other places. I took my coffee out to the back porch, the sun was just starting to come up. It felt like it was going to be a pretty humid day. Since it was so early it wasn’t unbearable outside yet.

As I sat in the porch swing watching the sun come up I sipped my coffee and thought about Em. Last night was nice and I couldn’t wait to spend more time with her. I couldn’t wait to take her on a date and spend some time with her, alone.

When I got home last night I had called Cash to talk about the next fire meeting. I could hear Bella in the back ground asking Cash to ask me how it had gone with Em. Cash ignored her for a little while, then he finally said, ” Bell wants to talk to you.”

She had asked a ton of questions but mostly just wanting to know if I wanted to see her more and if it seemed like Em wanted to see me more? I had answered both with “Yes, I think so.”

She insisted that I come over in the morning for breakfast the next day saying she “owed me for making her baby sister smile again”. I told her that she didn’t but she was insistent that I come over so I didn’t argue. Plus that meant I didn't have to make it.

Now sitting there on the swing I thought of Em. She was on my mind a lot lately. Especially since last night. She had really pushed me last night, I wanted her so bad I didn't think I'd be able to hold myself back. In one way I was glad I did, even though she thought she was ready then I don't think she was really ready. In another way, I couldn't wait to get the chance to be with her.

I finished up my coffee and got ready to head over to see Cash and Bella.

Once I arrived there we ate and then I hung out with Cash for a bit in the garage. I thought I had heard Bella talking to Em on the phone, through the wall, about coming over and when I saw Cash’s eyes roll I knew Bella was up to her old tricks of trying to be a match maker. I laughed in my head and thought I don’t mind, I want to see Em anyways and I can use all the help I can get!

Shortly after Bella came out into the garage to ask us if we wanted to jump in the pool with Fin?

It was getting hot in the garage as the morning went on, so we both said "sure" shrugging our shoulders. Cash headed in to his bedroom to get changed and I sat on the couch watching TV.

Before Cash came out I heard the front door open and Peyton come running in. He ran right past the living room towards Fin’s room. He yelled “Hey Aunt Bell!” and “Hey Joey!” as he ran by us.

I heard Bella and Emma talking at the front door. I couldn't really hear everything that they were talking about. I could just catch a word here and there. I wanted to see her so bad, I wanted to know what she was wearing, how she did her hair, everything about her. I got up from the couch to go see her. I couldn’t help myself. Plus, I knew that is exactly what Bell wanted.

As I rounded the corner to the entry way, she stood there in those cut offs looking so good. I blurted out.

“Hey Em! Headed to the pool to cool off?” I said knowing she probably wasn't.

Bella is still standing there in the door way facing Em, and I am judging by Em's face, Bella is probably smiling ear to ear.

“No, just dropping Peyton off for a sleep over and then off to get some stuff done.”

Perfect, now is my time. I should ask her out now.

“Oh, right.” Is all I could get out. I just don't know how to ask her.

“Heeeey, so I’ll have Peyton tonight so why don’t you guys go out and have some fun? I don’t know if Em even knows how to anymore!” She picks while putting an elbow into Em's side.

Yes! Thank you Bella!

“That sounds like a good idea, I’d be nice to catch up with you Em. What do you say?” I try to sound as confident as I can, hoping she will say yes.

“Umm...” “I guess we could do that.” Her smile is so sweet and I can't wait to put my lips on hers again.

“Alright, it’s a date. I’ll pick you up at five so you have time to get the stuff done that you wanted. Does that sound okay?”

“Yeah, I’ll see you at five.” Her voice comes out like a sexy whisper. I just want to wrap my arms around her and kiss her wildly.

She leaves and right after Bella shuts the door she turns to me and says "You're welcome" with a smirk and walks away.

Cash is already at the pool with Fin when I get there. I jump in the pool and play with Fin and talk to Cash but all I can think about is my date with Em. I don't think it is going to matter what we do, as long as I am with her I am sure it will be time well spent.

After awhile I head home to think more about where to take Emma. I decided on dinner at a small snack shack. I had been there with her and a couple friends before so I knew she at least liked the food. After that we could go to the lake to cool off, if she wanted to.

It seemed like the day was dragging on. I tried to busy myself with things to do around the house, I mowed the lawn and wandered around outside finding odds and ends to do.

It was almost four now, so I decided to get in the shower and cool off. This heat was brutal, mostly because it was so humid. In the shower all I could think about was Em, all the things I wanted to do to her tonight. I try to remind myself to just take it slow, she just lost her husband recently and the last thing I want to do is push her away.

Once out of the shower, I get dressed and head to the kitchen for a beer. I decided to wear jeans and a t-shirt to keep it simple. I don't want to over do it. Plus, I

Maybe one beer will settle my brain a little. Ease the nerves maybe. Plus it will give me something to focus on in the meantime. It doesn't take that long to get to Em's house and I don't want to be so early it makes things weird.

It is now about time to leave, I get in my truck and head over to pick up Em. I can't wait to see her. She has hardly left my mind all day.
