Later on in the day, I woke up to Bella playing with my hair.
“You should be resting Bella.” Getting and up and stretching.
“I know, but I'm so used to getting up and getting ready for the day at this time. I'll probably go to sleep soon enough.”
I nodded, “I'm going to make breakfast, don't move.” She nodded and closed her eyes humming a song
I left the room and headed towards the kitchen staring blankly at the counter. Bella could've died. I clenched my fist in anger hearing a couple of cracks from my knuckles.
“Rowan?” My head snapped up and I saw Trent, “We’ve added several cameras and put motion-activated lights around the house. Bella will be up and about soon Rowan don't stress yourself out. ”
I sighed, “Thanks, Trent. I've been guilt-tripping myself, but I'll only make her worried about me and she won't get better that way.” Trent nodded in understanding.
“We’ve all got you and Bella’s back. Carrie Margret will die in the most gruesome way imaginable so don't stress out too much.”
I nodded in appreciation, “I'm making breakfast anything, in particular, you guys want to eat?” Hearing the others walking into the kitchen.
“Cook something for Bella and we'll eat that.”
I made scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, and shrimp piling all of it onto two plates. Leaving the rest for the others.
“Kayanna’s coming to the house,” Keith said looking at his phone.
“Does she know or she just wants to visit Bella?” I asked.
“She doesn't know, but she'll know when she starts tearing the house apart looking for Bella. Wondering why her little sister is in the infirmary.”
I don't want to deal with this.
“I'll explain the situation to her Rowan don't worry about it.”
“Thank you, Keith.” I head downstairs back into the infirmary.
Bella still had her eyes closed and she was still humming. I wonder what song that is.
“I have breakfast. You don't have to eat all of it, but you should eat a decent portion of it.”
“Thanks, Rowan.” She said beginning to sit up.
“Don't push yourself, you're gonna hurt yourself further. Hold on.” I put the plates to the side and helped her sit up. “Better?” she nodded and I handed her, her plate of food.
We ate in silence and it felt weird. Bella wasn't herself so that makes sense. Everything feels dull and dead when Bella wasn't up and about. It affected everyone in the whole house and it wouldn't change till Bella was back to her normal self.
I would have never thought that something like this would happen. But as cliche as this is, I kinda think this was a weird hand of fate. I had this feeling when I saw her picture, but I never thought it would end up this way.
“Rowan?” I snap my head up, “Are you alright? I called your name a couple of times but you kept staring at your plate. ”
“I will be alright as soon as you get better Princess,” I said picking up her hand and kissing the back of it, “You're a tough-ass cookie to break. I'll be fine. You'll be fine. We'll both be fine.” I said intertwining our hands and leaning forward to kiss her, “I love you with every part of my being we’ll take down Carrie Margret together.” I whispered placing my lips on hers.
“You seem to be in a more affectionate than usual. Whys that?” She asked raising her perfectly sculpted blond eyebrow.
“Cause I want to be more affectionate that's why. I'm gonna get you a bowl of ice cream that ok?”
“Yes! Thank you!” she said in a baby voice.
“Alright. Alright. Stop squirming around so much. You're worse than a little kid.” I said slapping my forehead.
“Oh well, you're stuck with this little kid,” she said sticking her tongue out childishly.
That's for damn sure and I'll make sure everyone knows that too.
“That's fine with me Princess. I can live with that fact for the rest of my life, are you ok living with that? Are you ok standing by my side until the end of our time?”
“You're so overdramatic.” She said giggling softly.
“I'm serious. I'm giving you an opportunity to leave to go back to your family and your life before I bought you. I'm dangerous and my associations could get you seriously hurt. Now you-”
“I'm staying.” she cut me off, “I wouldn't have gotten this matching tattoo if I wasn't sure about any of this. This is the most exciting thing imaginable and I got an amazing boyfriend and some friends I can rely on them when I need them. I'm happy about everything that has happened up to this point. I don't have any regrets.” Bella said with a bright smile while rubbing her thumb over my knuckles.
I smiled and pulled her knuckles to my lips, “I love you, Princess.”
“I love you too snotty dick.” I couldn't help but let out a snort of air at my nickname.
“Can I get a different nickname? I gave you a cute nickname. Why am I still being called a snotty dick? ”
“Huh? I can't hear you. Try speaking to me again when there's a large bowl of cotton candy ice cream in front of me. Thanks, bababy.” Bella said in a child-like voice turning her head away from me.
“Whatever. I'll be back with your large bowl of cotton candy Princess.” She nodded but her head was still turned away from me.
I stood up rolling my eyes and left the infirmary. I head to the basement kitchen where I put her ice cream tub. I put a lot of ice cream with a mix of the different candies I bought her and returned to the infirmary.
“Look Princess I've brought a large bowl of cotton candy ice cream with a bunch of gummies. Can I have a new nickname now?”
She turned her head and smiled, “Ok, ok, ummm I guess I'll keep calling you... Snotty dick.”
“Go ahead and call me that see what happens to your bowl of ice cream,” I said holding the spoon to my lips.
“No, no, no, no. Ok. The ice cream is innocent. Your new nickname is Bababy. Better?”
“I was hoping for you to call me Daddy, but I guess we can save that for the bedroom,” I said with a wink.
“Just give me my damn ice cream.”
“Whatever Princess. Here.”
“Thank you!” Bella practically snatched the bowl of ice cream from my hands.
“Rude.” She either purposefully ignored me or she really didn't hear me, but it is what it is. She's happy and getting better that's all that matters to me. Her safety and happiness. I will do anything to make sure she would stay safe and happy.
