“Excuse Me?!”

Belladonna’s POV

After eating and taking a well-needed shower I join my mom and sister on the couch. I grabbed short gray pants and a white tank top.

“I bet I can beat you in a soccer game,” Kayanna said.

“No, you can't. I beat you every time we used to play.”

“That's gonna change today. Cmon Imma kick your-” mom gave Kayanna a glare, “ I was gonna say, butt mom.”

I laughed and ran outside, “Bring it, wimp.”

“IT’S ON!” “KICK KAYNNA’S BUTT!” “REALLY MOM?” Kayanna and mom bickered back and forth.

I grabbed a soccer ball from a sports shed and placed it in the middle of the backyard.

“First to fifteen wins.” Mom said.

Kayanna and I were tied both with fourteen goals under our belts, Kayanna tried to shoot the last goal. I blocked it with my thigh and it pounced off leaving a red mark the ball rolled away and I dribbled it a bit forward, but Kayanna stole the ball which made me trip and fall. I couldn't get up in time and she scored.

“Damn it! If I wasn't so clumsy I would've beat you.” I say from the ground. Kayanna came back and helped me up. “You bitch! This is gonna mark.” I cried out.

“That's soccer I don't know what you want me to say. ” she shrugged off. I roll my eyes at her nonchalance.

We go back into the house to grab lemonade and join mom on the patio. I hear the front door opening.

“Mother!” I yelled out getting up to see my mother. I reach the living room and see mother and I hugged her tightly.

She hugged back limply and pulled back not looking me in the eye, but I could tell there were tears in her eyes and they were streaming down her face rapidly.

“Sorry, Bella.” Sorry? About what?

“What are you sorry about? You didn't do anything wrong.” I asked confused. “I'm not mad at you for not being here earlier if that's what you're talking about. I said, still confused.

“No, I'm not talking about that. I did something far worse. I'm a fucked up human being for letting this happen. I really messed up.”

“Whatever you can't be that bad,” I said.

“I sold you, Bella.”
