Chapter 5: The Semi-Final

I was looking at the necklace that I have done. It was satisfying to see that the idea that I had in my mind was coming alive and I was smiling as I was handing the necklace into the submission box.

“I hope they will like it,” I said as I was praying to the Lord. I was hoping that it will be okay and I know that I will move to the next stage.

We have a break as I was sitting in the booth, trying to reorganize everything when I saw it happened again. Someone was talking to Percy and it was the same woman that I saw 5 years ago when she said that she was the one that was engaged and will be married to Percival.

I felt my hands were gripping the hammer that Percy gave me for my birthday as I was looking at their interactions. But when I looked closely, Percy was not having it. Like he was forced to have a conversation with that bitch.

Huh.

“Hey, Elise. It’s been a long time since we heard from you,” I heard someone was calling after me and when I turned, it was Ryes, Percy’s brother.

Oh, hey, Ryes. I did not hear you coming,” I said as I was putting the hammer down before I was looking at Ryes. He was charming but not like I was attracted to him. He was more like a brother to me.

Unlike his older brother.

“—hoping that you would come,” he said as I was blinking at him. I smiled before I was trying to get what he was talking to me just now.

“What? Sorry, I don’t get that,” I said before Ryes was chuckling at me. I was arching my eyebrows at him before he was clearing his throat.

“Anyway, I was wondering if you would like to come for dinner tonight,” he said as I was looking at the bitch and Percy together. But they are not there.

“What are you doing here, Ryes?” Percy asked as I was turning to look at him. He was standing behind me with his hands crossing in front of his chest. He looked intimidating but Ryes was not intimidated by him at all. Ryes smiled before he was looking at him before he was smiling charmingly at him.

“Well, I was wondering if Elise would like to come for dinner tonight—”

“No,” Percy said as he was pulling me to go back into the booth. I was stunned to do anything before Ryes was calling after Percy but he ignored him.

“Hey, where are you taking me?” I asked Percy but he was quiet. He did not say a word until we were out on the back of the booth and I was looking at him as Percy sighed.

“Okay, what are you doing, and why are you dragging me out here?” I asked him before Percy was looking at me. He was scanning me up and down before I felt conscious.

“What?”

“You wear too much revealing clothes,” he stated as I was looking at my tank top and my shorts. I mean, duh, it was hot in the booth so I thought this would make it less warm.

“Have you not seen the booth? It was sweaty and hot so of course, I have to make sure that I will not die of heat in there,” I said before Percy frowned at me.

“But you are exposing your skin to the fire as well as the metals. What if you’re hurting yourself?” He asked me as I was scoffing at him before I was crossing my hands in front of my chest.

“So, what? It’s not like you were worried about me when you have someone else to think about,” I said as I was moving away from him. Percy blocked my way before I was glaring at him.

“Let me through,”

“Not until you explain what do you mean that I have someone else to think about,” he said as we were staring at each other. Then that bitch has to come here and break the silence between us.

“Percival, I have the—oh, I’m sorry, I don’t know that you have company,” Morganite or Morgan for short was coming at us with her glossy brown hair and her amber eyes. I was staring at Percy before I was running away from that situation as I was looking at them. I don’t think that my heart will be in pain but I was.

And I think it gets worse than before.

After the break, the judges have come to a decision the name of the 10 other contestants that will move forward into the semi-final. And I was happy to say that I was in it. I don’t think that my work was nice and immaculate but I did it. It gave me the confidence to do it for the next weapon.

“And now, we have the next thing that we want you to make,” the MC said as I was looking at the billboard.

Please let it be another jewelry, please, please, I prayed and what’s come on the board was like a dream come true.

“Okay, the next thing you need to create is a bracelet. Get to your booth and you have 24 hours to complete that starts now!” The MC said before I was moving toward the booth. I noticed that Percy was not around but I don’t think I can tell him what was on the board. He did miss it.

I was looking for the metal that will be perfect for me to use to make a bracelet that will complement the necklace that I did before.

Wait for a second, what if this competition was for a complete set of jewelry?

I smiled as I was making the bracelet that was The Fire Bracelet. I got the inspiration from the Greek God of Fire and Blacksmith, Hephaestus.

Are you sure it was not the hunk of a man that was coming into the booth right now? My mind was slipping as I turned to look at Percy that was adorning a black suit with a white shirt. I see that he was out and about while I was not thinking about anything, only the prize.

Well, mostly but I did wonder where did he go and with whom. Was it Morganite?

“So, you’re already working on your next creation, I wonder what will you make this time, Elise,” Percy said as I was scowling at him.

“Even if I did make something, it’s not like you will be looking at it,” I said to Percy before he was putting on the apron that made him dark like Hephaestus. I think that middle name suited him.

“We’ll see,” he said as he was starting to work on his creation. I don’t think that Percy knows what was on the next agenda but I will not let him win. He was a prodigy after all and this time I will make sure that I will not be beaten by him.

I was putting the metal on the burning coal and started to melt them. I heard that Percy was chuckling and when I turned, he was not looking at me. I grimaced.

What did he chuckle about and who? Again, an image of Morganite was coming into my head.
