Valerie

He grabbed me by the waist, pulling me up close against his chest before forcing me to wrap my legs around him. His hand gently glided through my hair, as he looked at me in a way he had never before.

He carried me up the stairs and as soon as we got to the bedroom he shut the door and pushed my back against it. Goosebumps lined my skin and I stared into his then dark eyes that were filled with desire.

Time stopped and the flutter in me intensified. His lips mashed against mine and I hungrily pushed back as I lifted my hands up to tangle my fingers in his hair. He let out a groan before letting me down on my feet and pulling off my shirt in between our heated kiss.

He stopped for a moment to look at me and I felt the heat rise from my stomach to my chest and my breathing got deeper, “stop looking at me like that,” I breathed out and reached up to pull him in for another kiss. I didn’t like the way he looked at me, I felt judged.

Sometime during our kiss, we both ended up in just our undergarments. He pulled away and placed his forehead against mine as we took deep breaths and our hearts were pounding louder than ever. I tilted my head and looked down before hooking my fingers into his boxers and pulling it down without any second thoughts.

I let out a soft gasp that made him smirk as he held my chin, forcing me to look at him before taking my lips in his again, “this needs to come off,” he mumbled as he trailed kisses down my neck and I felt his hands reach for my bra that was soon laying on the floor.

I let out a soft whimper as his tongue plunged between my lips and found my tongue to twine with his. Blindly, his hand dove into my hair and he grabbed a fistful before walking backwards to the bed and gently pushing me back so that my body could sink into the covers.

Realizing that my body was exposed to him I felt a wave of insecurity hit me as he stood tall, looking at me in just my underwear as if he was judging me. I quickly grabbed the covers and tried to cover myself but was stopped by his hands. “Don’t hide,” he said and pulled it away. “Adrien,” I whined and used my hands instead to cover myself. He had seen plenty of women before, pretty women. It scared me.

“You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen... I’ve already seen you before Valerie,” he murmured and shook his head. He gently tucked my hair behind my ear and I remembered the day we shifted together.

Slowly but hesitantly I moved my hands away and saw a hint of a smile on his face before he got on the bed with me. He slid his hands over the curve of my hip and over my smooth skin making me arch my back as he kissed the top of my breasts. His fingers glided down to where the lace of my underwear was and he tugged it down making me jump. I looked into his hungry filled eyes and pressed my legs together when I felt an unfamiliar ache down there. “You’re-” he paused and shook his head, “all mine.”

He hovered over me and lowered his mouth to mine as our bare bodies were pressed together. It was the closest we’ve ever been and I felt the blood pounding in my veins. I reached my hand up and slid my fingers into his hair, pulling him closer to me, earning a groan from him and ignoring the shivers going down my body.

“Say it,” he said in his husky voice and I just stared at him. “Say you’re mine. All of you.”

“No,” I said just to tease him which made him growl and press down on my stomach making me moan.

“I’m yours.”

“Fuck,” he muttered and I felt something poking me, “look what you did,” he said as he cupped my face making me blush. Hunger surged inside him. A demand. I felt like I couldn’t get close enough to him so I strained my body against his.

He pushed me back down and began trailing kisses down my neck until he reached my hardened nipples. He looked up at me before latching his tongue around it making me moan loudly. He continued assaulting each of my breasts leaving me breathless and hyperventilating. He moved lower to my belly button as his hands cupped my breasts perfectly and I felt him smile against the skin on my belly. “So perfect,” he muttered as I gasped for air.

His hands as if having a mind of their own, reached down and spread my legs open. Leaving me completely exposed to him, “Adrien I’ve never,” I began to say and he just kissed me to silence me. “I know,” he said as he brushed my hair back and moved so that he was facing me.

“I’m scared,” I mumbled breathlessly. I had no idea what I was doing and I’ve never gone that far with anybody. Hell, I wasn’t with anyone other than him. But I still wanted to do it so badly. I wanted to feel him.

“It’s okay. Whatever you want to do is what we’ll do and there isn’t a thing I can do to stop you even if I want this,” he said and I felt my heart swell for him. I couldn’t believe he was real.

“I want you,” I said and pulled his body against mine. I felt his muscles tense before he balanced on his elbows and rubbed his length between my legs and teased my opening. I let out an inhumane noise and arched my back, wanting more of the pleasure I was already feeling.

“Stop teasing me,” I said and glared at him. He chuckled before pressing his forehead against mine. “If you want me to stop, tell me now because I won’t be able to if I go further,” he whispered.

“I don’t want you to stop,” I breathed out and pushed my body up so I could feel him more.

“I’ve never been gentle before. You need to tell me if I’m hurting you okay?” He asked and I mumbled a quick yes before scratching his back helplessly so that he could just do it. He was stalling and it was killing me.

Not waiting longer I felt him slowly move his length to be inside me and a gasp escaped my lips. I felt everything. I shut my eyes and felt tears threaten to fall out as the excruciatingly slow and sharp pain surged through me. “Shh, eyes open. Look at me,” he said once he was inside.

“Valerie look at me,” he repeated and I opened my eyes. He was looking at me with furrowed brows, searching my face for answers.

“It hurts,” I muttered and felt him try to move out immediately. “Don’t,” I said and stopped him with my hands around him as my chest moved up and down rapidly. It surprised me how much care he was showing even when he was needy.

“It will go away, I promise,” he said and leaned down to press a kiss on my forehead as he gently wiped the tears from my cheeks.

He slowly began moving while looking at me to make sure he wasn’t hurting me, “Is this okay?” He asked and I nodded.

“Words Valerie,” he said and I mentally cursed him.

“Yes,” I managed to whisper and he thrust deeper inside me. My hands moved from his back to clench the sheets as he began to increase his speed.

I gasped for air as he moved faster and both our moans got louder, filling up the room. It was so intense that I heard both our hearts beating loudly as our bodies fit together perfectly like we were made for each other.

“You feel so good. So fucking tight,” he managed to say through his deep breaths making butterflies go crazy in my stomach and my core to ache more. He slowed down and moved his hands so he could entwine our fingers together before he increased his pace again.

Each time he slowly thrust into me it sent chills all over my body. I squeezed his hands when I felt like I was about to release and automatically arched my back before a loud scream-like moan erupted from me. Adrien cursed and grunted and without control, our bodies exploded at once. He leaned down, burying his head into the crook of my neck and I felt a sharp sting followed by a wave of pleasure that flowed through my entire shaking body.

I took loud but deep breaths as I threw my head back, feeling relieved. He marked me. I was marked.

He licked and kissed his mark before pulling away and cupping my face as he moved inside me in a slow rhythm.

“Holy fuck,” I mumbled earning a laugh from him.

“I love you. I love you so much,” he breathed out and pressed his forehead against mine, making me burst with happiness.

My heart exploded and unfamiliar confidence took over my body. I pushed him back and turned us around so that I was on top of him. He looked at me in shock as his chest moved up and down rapidly.

He watched me curiously and I felt heat rise to my cheeks when his gaze moved to my breasts and a smile was permanently planted on his face. He lifted his hands up and held my hips, guiding me while he tried controlling himself. I was surprised he even allowed me to take over being the alpha male that he was.

I leaned forward and kissed his ear before I felt my canines extend and as if having a mind of their own, I moved and sunk them to the base of his neck. Marking him as mine.

He moaned loudly followed by a low growl before we both exploded into each other again. I licked my mark closed and kept my head resting on his shoulder as we both took deep breaths and I felt my blood pumping through my veins. His body was shaking with his release and so was mine.

I felt like I was on cloud nine. Not only did I feel my emotions but I felt his too. Our mate bond was complete and we were one thing. He wrapped his arms around me tightly in a moment and I let my head rest upon his chest. All my thoughts stopped as if my heart took over from my head when we were close. He let out a soft laugh before squeezing my shoulders as if he needed to check I was really there with him. For the first time, I felt like I was seeing him. The real him behind all his walls.

“Fuck. That was hot,” he mumbled and rolled us over to our sides.

He pulled me to him and I felt his breath fanning my ear before he smiled against my cheek. “You okay?” He asked as his hands ran up my bare legs to my butt.

I squirmed when he lifted my leg and put it over his hip making him chuckle. “I’m okay,” I breathed out and kissed the tip of his nose.

We were both laying down naked with our foreheads against each other as we took deep breaths. “Just hold me like this,” I whispered with my eyes closed and he hummed before tightening his arms around my waist to pull me closer to him.

“Do you feel it?” I asked as my heart rate increased.

“I do.”

There were no words to describe how we were both feeling. He was a part of me and our emotions were blended together. I felt warm and I never wanted what I was feeling to go away. There was gratefulness, euphoria, tingling happiness, love, and protectiveness. He was mine forever.

I opened my eyes to look at Adrien who gave me a smile before balancing on one elbow and cupping my face with one hand. “Do you remember that day we fought and you said you felt like an idiot for saving yourself for your mate because it was me?” He asked.

“I was angry. I didn’t mean it,” I said, feeling really guilty about saying that to him even though I did mean it back then. I was surprised he remembered because that meant he cared and it bothered him when I said that.

He shook his head and began moving his thumb in circles. “Thank you for saving yourself for me,” he whispered and leaned down to kiss my forehead which I found so loving.

He laid his head on my exposed breasts and I had the biggest smile on my face as I ran my fingers through his silky black hair.

“Was it better than those other girls?” I blurted out and immediately regretted ever opening my mouth. He sat still before tilting his head and looking at me with furrowed brows.

“You can’t possibly be serious right now,” he muttered and stared into my eyes. I just stared back and he shook his head before turning away from me and facing the other side.

“Adrien?” I asked and turned to him. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that,” I mumbled and tried running my hands down his arm soothingly.

“Valerie you have to stop feeling threatened about who I was with or what I did before I met you,” he said and turned to face the ceiling.

I placed my head on his chest with one arm draped across his abdomen and nodded. “I know but I can’t help it. Every day I go to work I see that woman at the reception eyeing me and I feel like I have a competition.”

“Goddess… If you think I’d ever choose someone over you or that someone could come between what I feel for you then you’re crazy. I only want you and I never even noticed anyone else after we met. If you want me to fire her again then I will,” he said while stroking my hair. He already fired her before, the reason being he was an asshole but then my father brought her back after Sienna left. She was harmless though.

“I don’t want anyone fired because of me being jealous…” I whispered and then we fell into a deep but comfortable silence.

“Come, I’ll get the tub ready,” he said and sat up. I sat up and pulled the covers to see the faint drops of blood on the sheets and instantly felt my face turn red. I had no idea when we even got under the covers.

“I’m so sorry um… I’ll clean it up,” I said as I panicked internally, not knowing what to do.

“Don’t apologize. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Go to the bathroom and I’ll take these out,” he said but I stopped him.

“Adrien I’ll do it, you go,” I said and tried to snatch the covers so I could cover the stains on the sheet and he wouldn’t see it more.

“Valerie,” he scolded and stood up. I felt relieved but soon I was yanked up making me yelp as he carried me to his massive bathroom. He didn't turn all the lights on, just a few, and that made it look so romantic.

He filled the tub up with water and soap before leaving to probably take out the sheets. I sat alone in the tub just staring at the foam moving around as I got lost in my thoughts. I had no words to describe what I was feeling, I was over the moon and content with where my life was headed.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t even realize Adrien coming in and joining me in the tub. He sat behind me with me between his legs and began slowly running his hands up my legs and up my arms.

“What are you thinking about?” He asked before kissing his mark on my neck making me shudder before I shrugged. It was like every time he touched it a wave of electricity passed through me.

“Nothing. I’m just happy,” I said and leaned back on him. “It’s so weird that we aren’t arguing,” I mumbled and felt his chest vibrate.

“You’re an expert, I’m sure you can start an argument right now if you want,” he said and I frowned before pinching his legs playfully making him chuckle.

“Adrien?” I called.

“Yeah?”

“You should laugh and smile more. It looks good on you,” I mumbled and tilted my head to look up at him as I gathered foam into my hands.

“Why smile when there is no reason to.” That was simply his answer and I didn’t push further. A man must be really damaged to not find a reason to smile. But on the other hand, I felt proud and special that I managed to make him smile around me. I was his reason to smile.

We spent some time together in the tub just being even more intimate. The silence didn’t bother either of us, our closeness was all that mattered.

Adrien went for another round like the hungry needy wolf he is and then made sure to wash every inch of my body making me feel even more special.

I put on one of his hoodies with no pants, just underwear and he was in his boxers before he pulled me back to the bed where I felt so warm. I was comfortably laying with my head on his chest. Each one of us is silent and absorbing the reality of our lives as he snuck his hands under my hoodie and ran his hands up and down my back.

I reached out and held his silver dog tag that always hung around his neck. It had two dates on it which I assumed were birth dates. “Is it your parent’s birth dates?” I asked and he nodded.

“My mother used to be my happiness,” he said out of nowhere, breaking the silence. I tilted my head up in confusion to look at his face but he just kept staring at the ceiling with a blank face. I could feel every emotion going on inside him and it made me uneasy.

“We were happy. A small but happy family. My father loved her so much and I always imagined my future to be like theirs.”

I stayed silent and listened to him as my heart pounded in my chest. He was finally opening up to me.

“Both of them were warriors and he had a pretty high position. He had Aramis’s position… Second in command. When I was nine there was a conflict between our pack and the Midnight pack. There was an attack so of course they both went and left me home with Laurie like they always did,” he said and paused. He looked down at me as he took a shaky breath and stroked my hair as if making sure I was with him.

“They didn’t come back for days and when the day came. I went outside and it was just my father… Alone. She was gone. She was targeted from the beginning because once she was gone my father would be weak and our pack wouldn’t have a second in command. They knew he wouldn’t survive without her.”

His voice was really controlled and it made me worry. I could feel all his emotions now since we were mated and it hurt a lot. I propped up and cupped his face in my hands, “I’m so sorry,” I whispered and he just gave me a small smile with his glistening eyes.

“They killed her right in front of him so the image was always with him. My father tried to stay sane and tried to make us happy without her but after a while, faking happiness was too much for him and I felt like I lost him too. He neglected me and himself as he was drowning in his own sorrows. He no longer talked to me or tried to spend quality time with me as he had before. The more the time passed the more real it got. It was too real. Then he passed away from what I think was sadness.”

“My perspective of the world completely changed. I realized that everything was fake and meaningless. I saw no meaning in life. I was only ten when he died but I understood everything too well. I never learned to enjoy any day after that and I was just trying not to forget what me and my family had together before my mom died.”

I couldn’t help it. With both our emotions mingling together I was crying silently as he told me everything that happened. How his father isolated himself and how he was thrown from one foster home to another for being an angry kid.

“I decided to be a warrior because it didn’t need anything apart from outer strength which I had. I didn’t want a mate because I didn’t want to go through what my father went through and I didn’t want to go through that pain again. I lived with the pain for a really long time and being closed off was the only way to not feel again,” he said and sat up with his back against the board.

I saw him wipe his eyes. He was crying and it broke me into a million pieces. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down for him. “Being a warrior doesn’t require anything other than being cold and heartless, which I am.”

“You’re not cold or heartless,” I said while caressing his face, feeling my chest tighten. He looked at me for a moment and wiped my cheeks before looking at the window behind me.

“Did you think that when we first met?” he asked. I bit my lip and shook my head.

“Exactly, I am. I didn’t even think I was capable of having such deep feelings for someone. Not until you came along.”

“You have deep feelings for me?” I asked with a grin.

He smiled at me and shook his head, “don’t get ahead of yourself.”

My heart melted at the sight of his smile. He never smiled or laughed before, but now he was doing it every now and then. There was something about the way he smiled, He had the kind of smile that made you feel happy to be alive, his smile felt warm and sincere.

“Did you want revenge?” I whispered and he looked away from me.

“At first yes. But not anymore I don’t. It’s been years and they wouldn’t want that,” he said and I nodded. So that was his story. The story he’s been so reluctant about sharing with me. The story of why he was afraid of having feelings. It was because he was afraid of the pain.

“Are those them?” I asked and pointed at the tiny picture frame on the nightstand of a family of three.

He turned his head and looked at the picture before nodding. “Yes. It was my mom’s favorite picture. She had it beside her nightstand.”

He reached out and grabbed a small black box from inside the drawer and I watched him curiously.

“I want you to have this,” he said and opened it. There was a golden sunflower necklace sitting in there. I looked up at him in shock. “What?”

“It was my mother’s,” he smiled and pulled it out. “My father got it for her and she never took it off. He said she was his sunflower,” he said and paused to admire the necklace.

“Sunflowers can survive anything. The good and the bad and they last a whole year round. They stay with you regardless of your troubles.” He looked up at me as if those words were meant for me and not the sunflower.

“I used to always try and pull the petals and she would laugh. She told me that once I found my mate she would give it to me so that I can put it around her neck too.”

My heart went crazy all over again and I looked at him, speechless. “Adrien… I can’t,” I said and he shook his head.

“I kept it as a memory of her. My father was keeping it and it was one of the few things I got to keep when they were both gone. I never thought I’d be giving it to someone. I never even thought there would be someone worthy enough of having it after her but here you are. So I want you to wear it. It means a lot to me and so do you,” he said and unhooked it. I smiled at him and felt my heart swell before I pulled my hair to one side so he could clasp it around my neck.

“It’s beautiful. Thank you, and thank you for telling me,” I said with a teary laugh and straddled his lap to pull him in for a hug. The necklace itself was beautiful, but the meaning behind it made it all the more special and only him and I knew what it meant.

“Promise me you won’t risk your life and you’ll stay with me,” he whispered and I pulled back to look into his eyes.

“I can promise you that I won’t do anything reckless, but I can’t promise to not risk my life,” I said. I knew that if it came to the people I cared about I wouldn’t even think twice before putting them before myself so I couldn’t make that promise to him.

“Valerie-”

“Adrien if anything happened to you, or my family I would risk my life for you guys in a heartbeat. I can’t make that promise.”

He sighed and pulled me back into him, knowing I was right and he couldn’t do anything about it. “I love you,” he whispered again and I smiled to myself. I never thought I’d hear those words from him, let alone more than once in one day.

“And people protect what they love because Love is not only something you feel, it is something you do,” I whispered back. I didn’t say the words but I said it indirectly. I knew I loved him more than anything and I’m sure he knew it too. But the words didn’t come out.

“You know I built walls around myself and no one was supposed to get to me. Then you skipped into my office that day and somehow fucking cracked every single wall I had up. You little charmer,” he teased making me laugh.

“I didn’t break them? Just cracked?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.

“No, they are unbreakable. You just made a small crack for yourself to get through.”

“I will break them. Then arrogant Adrien will be no more,” I said and he gave me a challenging smirk.

“Then you’ll be doing that for the rest of your life. It’s who I am,” he said and I just stared at him before pressing my body against his and resting my head on his shoulders.

“I’ve never seen you like this,” I whispered.

“Like what?” he asked while drawing shapes on my back.

“Vulnerable,” I whispered and pulled away to look into his eyes. I looked into those blue orbs that held so many emotions and he looked back as if wondering what to say.

“Because I never was, I never had someone to love or to love me. You're the only one, the only thing that can break me. Being with you, I am trusting you with that power. Don't break me.”
