My Valerie

Adrien walked away to his office and I sat in the living room scrolling through the millions of missed calls from him and wondering what on earth got him so worried.

All of a sudden I felt his rage build up before he blocked me from feeling it. I turned my head around and stared at his half-opened office door where he was basically yelling on the phone.

I felt chills running up my hands and stood up to walk over to his office. I stood by the door and I was clearly in his view but he was too stressed over the phone call to notice me.

“What do you mean he left the territory? I just got sent a fucking threat like a few hours ago. He tricked you. The alpha told you to keep an eye on him, now what am I supposed to do? Tell him his warriors can’t do one thing right?” He yelled making me flinch and pray for whoever was getting yelled at.

“Of course she doesn’t know, but this isn’t about her. Everything is going to be a mess. I need you to take a few of our frontline warriors and go to the base NOW. They are probably a few rogues there already.”

“ALREADY? Why wasn’t I told about this?” He said before sitting down so harshly on the chair and throwing a pen at the wall.

I was contemplating if I should walk in and help him calm down but decided against it. Sighing, I slumped my shoulders and turned to walk away.

“I will call you back. Do what I told you to.” I heard him say before he hung up. “Valerie. Come,” he called and I sighed before walking in.

“You were listening, again.” He said and began massaging his temples as if it was all too much for him. It wasn't the first time I've eavesdropped.

“What are you hiding from me?” I asked and I heard his heart speed up. He wasn't expecting that question.

“Why are you blocking your feelings from me? Then every time you see me you stop talking about whatever it is that is going on. You don’t allow me to join the meetings anymore either and it makes me feel like you’re hiding something,” I said and he looked at me with a sigh before taking a deep breath to calm himself.

“There are just some things you can’t know Valerie,” he said and fumbled with papers on his desk.

“Why? It’s not like I’m a traitor. I even signed a contract for work about not sharing any confidential information. But you’re keeping all the work away from me.”

“Come here,” he said and reached his hand out. I looked at it and shook my head making him growl. “Valerie. Come.”

I pressed my lips together and walked over to him. I stood in front of him with my arms crossed before he abruptly pulled me into his lap so that I was sitting sideways. “I trust you to not tell even if you hadn’t signed that work contract okay? I just want you safe and I don’t want you involved.”

“It’s about what Lennon and Sienna said, right? The attack thing against rogues,” I said and he nodded. All I knew was that rogues wanted to attack us. That was all.

“It’s bigger than you think it is. So I don’t want you involved in any way,” he whispered and pulled my head flat against his chest before he began stroking my hair.

“But don’t block me away. I don’t like it. I want to feel what you feel,” I mumbled.

“I can’t do that.”

“Adrien the biggest thing about mating is that your feelings become a part of me,” I began to say and he cut me off.

“I know that okay? I just don’t want you to feel my anger, that’s all. You’re making a big deal out of it.”

I pushed myself away from him and stared at him with a frown before I stood up on my feet and found my way out of his stupid office.

“Allie. Don’t do that. I am doing this for you,” he said as he came after me to the living room.

“You might not care but this is a big deal to me. So I don’t know how telling me that I’m making a big deal out of nothing is for me,” I said and plopped down on the couch.

“I care. You know I care. It is a big thing for me too. There is nothing like sharing my emotions with you but you know that when I get angry it’s not pretty. So why would I want you to feel that with me? I want you to feel when I’m happy. When I’m over the moon like yesterday. Not when I’m mad.” He said and sat beside me, facing me but I knew he was hiding something.

“Why did you freak out when I left?” I asked. He looked at me and then at the coffee table in front of us with a sigh as if he was searching for an answer.

“Just… Something happened. Don’t worry about it,” he said and I huffed, knowing that was the most I could get out of him. I looked at him and how tense he was with a million thoughts running through my mind. I didn't think he was one to worry about much so I could see right through him. He was horrible and hiding it.

“Why were you mad?” I asked.

“Alpha had us watch over someone who we know works with traitors. He somehow left without anyone seeing him but they claim they have been watching and never looked away.”

“We also had a few warriors from each pack sent to our base, just in case things happened faster than we estimated. It did, a few rogues already attacked but the moonstone warriors were already there.”

I looked at him with my lips parted, not knowing what to say. “This all happened in one night?” I asked and he nodded. “How big is this?”

“Bigger than you think. Rogues are trying to take over our lands and they've already started. So you might call it a war because it’s way more than an attack.”

“What does that mean for you?” I asked and moved to straddle his lap while playing with the ends of his hair. Knowing that calmed him.

He sighed and held me by the waist before locking his eyes with mine, “That I’ll have to leave with the rest of the warriors.”

I frowned and rested my head on his shoulders as he rubbed circles on my back. “I want to come with you. I can help.”

He pulled me away and stared at me with a raised eyebrow. “What did you just say?” He asked in a very threatening voice.

“I can protect you,” I said and before I could continue he growled and stood up.

“You’re not going anywhere. You’re sitting your perfect little ass home. You lost control of your powers just yesterday. Besides, you’re not a warrior. I can protect myself. You know exactly what happened last time you wanted to help,” he said. Very protectively might I add. Making me feel like a child.

I sighed and slumped back in the couch. “So I have to stay in this huge house by myself.”

“If that’s your only problem then you can go to your parent’s house until I’m back. I just want you safe Valerie.”

I nodded and looked up at him, “why did you even get a house this huge for just yourself?” I asked making him chuckle.

“Because I have the money and I can,” he said and I rolled my eyes. Cocky man.

He reached his hands out and pulled me up. Pressing me against him as he looked down at me. “Come train with me today.”

“You want me to train with warriors?” I asked with wide eyes. He never let me train with him and then suddenly he wanted me close to him at all times.

“Mhm. Yes.”

“I think you’re just trying to wear me out,” I said with a laugh making him laugh.

“I just want to spend time with my mate. It might be my last training session for a while,” he said and I felt the sadness creep up into me again.

“I’ll miss you,” I whispered and hugged him. He stood still for a moment before wrapping his arms around me so tightly.

“I cannot believe I’m saying this to someone,” he muttered more to himself than to me and I sensed his uneasiness. “I’ll miss you too. My precious,” he said as he kissed the top of my head, sending butterflies all over my body.

When Valerie was out with Angelina, Kade went to the office to finalize some paperwork. That’s when he found a note on my desk. A note no one ever wishes to see. He brought it over to my house and I was immediately in panic mode up until she came back and stared at me like I was insane.

I tried keeping my calm in front of her but unfortunately for me she heard me yelling on the phone and demanded an explanation. I left her in the living room and moved back to my office after giving her what she wanted. I told her what she wanted to know. Leaving out the part where her psychopathic biological father that abandoned her when she was five, wanted her and threatened to find a way to get her.

I pulled the note I hid in the drawers and held it in my hand as I stared at it with furrowed brows. I saw red as so many questions were running through my mind from How he got into my office to why he wanted Valerie.

I know that you know everything. However, you forget that I have people from the inside so I know things too. But I am willing to negotiate. Give Valerie back to me and the Blue moon pack stays safe from rogues. Defy me and the whole pack goes down. Will it be the life of one person over thousands of others?

If you don’t find a way to bring her to me. I’ll make her come to me. L.C.

I curled my fingers causing the note to crinckle. The more I stared at it, the more I realized I couldn’t leave. The thought itself of him having Valerie made me feel uneasy. Leaving to go help at the base with the war against rogues wasn’t an option for me. The man had no idea who he was messing with. Messing with me was one thing, but messing with Valerie and sending threats to top it off was another. The only reason I was controlling my anger and fury was because Valerie would barge in and ask questions again. Which I didn't want.

I had to keep it from her. I knew that if she found out she would take matters into her own hands and try to fix things the Valerie way. Which never ends well.

All my plans with the warriors went down hill since I received that damned note. I couldn’t leave, not until I knew Valerie was safe and that fucker was caught.

He had already sent his little rogue minions to our base most likely as a distraction to me so that I would leave faster and Valerie would be accessible. Little did he know I was one of the last batches to leave to the base and now I wasn’t going to leave at all.

I sat in my office and stared at my phone before calling Mason to tell him that I wasn’t going.

“What?” He asked.

“I’m not leaving until Lucien is caught. Armais can lead the warriors. I’m staying with Valerie and looking for him.”

“The man can’t be caught. He covers his scent with his witch potions. How long will you just sit your ass at home,” he said, making me growl.

“If you haven’t noticed. It’s YOUR sister and MY mate being threatened here. I am not leaving her here when I don’t know his whereabouts. I will talk to Isabelle, she's a witch so she can help,” I said and he stayed silent.

“We all know how powerful he is and none of us know why he suddenly wants her. The only thing I can think of is her wolf. Her wolf could give him all the power he craves and everyone will listen to him if he gets it. It does not only endanger her, but all of us.”

The only problem was. How he knew about her wolf and her gift. It wasn’t exactly common knowledge and only people she was close to knew.

“The patrollers said he left, but I get where you're coming from," he said and I rolled my eyes because they all somehow believed that he left. That is what he wanted us to believe. He wanted us to think that he was no where near our pack which meant Valerie didn't need protection. But I wasn't that ignorant. My girl was staying by my side.

"He didn't leave. He left this fucking note for me not long ago. He's still here but he's using Zelda to cover up his tracks."

“You think Aramis can handle all the warriors and the base?” He asked and I knew that meant he agreed to me staying.

“He can. He’s my second in command.”

We agreed on me staying behind. Besides, it was good in case anything happened in the pack. The warriors that were staying behind needed a leader.

It’s been two days since I found that note and I was busier than ever, trying to find that fucker while keeping an eye on Valerie. She was starting to notice my change in behavior towards her and I could tell that it was bothering her but she didn't try to question me. She always stared at me with furrowed brows when I pulled her to my side anytime we were out.

I walked out of my office after the last phone call with Isabelle expecting it to be dark and empty since it was midnight, but there she was, her small body sitting on the couch with light from the tv reflecting on her face.

I walked over and stood behind the couch as I wrapped my arms around her. “I thought you’d be sleeping,” I said and she tilted her head up to look at me.

“No, I was waiting for you,” she mumbled, making me frown. I walked around the couch and sat beside her before pulling her to me. I hadn't told her that I was staying even though it's been two days since I've decided. She still thought I was leaving the next morning.

“I’m not leaving with the warriors anymore. I have to stay here and take care of things,” I said and she tilted her head to look at me with a calculating look. She knew something was up. She wasn't dumb.

“Why so sudden?” She asked.

“Some things came up. I’m needed here,” I said, trying to keep it as simple and as truthful as possible. I was surprised she didn't ask what things I was talking about. She gave up on trying to get information from me.

She moved to my lap and hugged me. Surprising me. “That makes me happy. I didn’t want you to leave,” she mumbled as I hugged her back. I felt bad that she had no idea I was staying behind because she was threatened.

She pulled away and stared at me as I cupped her face and waited for her to speak. “I love you,” she said with a smile and I’m pretty sure my heart stopped then and there and my breath turned cold. My hands dropped from her face and I just stared at her in disbelief.

“I said I love you.” She nodded with a laugh making me smile before a frown took over.

“What do you mean?” I asked. Still in shock. Those words never meant so much to me until it spilled out of me and I told her I loved her when she lost control of Alaska. I always thought it was meaningless.

“I love you like I love ice cream?” She questioned. “I love you like you say you love me.”

I shook my head and didn’t try to hide the shock on my face. “After everything I’ve done to you. All the shit and pain I put you through. How?” I asked, making her frown. I was nothing but horrible to her when we met. Overloaded her with unnecessary work and lashed out on her for anything she did.

“I’ve told you that morning that I don’t care about what you did, Adrien. You had your own problems. Let’s not live in the past,” she said as she cupped my face. I couldn't believe that she was real. Her telling me that she loved me out loud made me break a little knowing that she was in danger and I couldn't afford to lose her.

I laughed before standing up with her. Her legs wrapped around me and her hands around my neck. I hugged her tighter than I ever had before. “You just made my day. I love you. You’re so incredible and I am beyond lucky to have you,” I said making her laugh. A sound I would never get tired off.

I had to work with Isabelle faster. The longer I waited while knowing Lucien was building a master plan to get Valerie, the more I lost my patience. Isabelle had to find a way to track the other witch and Lucien. I didn't care what it took. Lucien was smart. I wanted him and his witch wife gone before they got to my Valerie.

We hadn’t even been mated for that long and trouble was already unfolding.

I'd love it if you could drop a like and review. Hope you liked it! Comment on your thoughts♡
