Chapter Twenty-One: Desert Heat

Aurora stood from the table and headed to the bathroom. She had been holding it in for so long; because she didn’t want to leave Ren alone with the bimbo, he has to pretend to love. She doesn’t know everything that is going on, all she knows is that Martina is pretending to be her, Ren is pretending to love her, and she can’t be herself.

Apparently, she’s Nicola’s sister now.

She chuckled at the memory. Quick thinking on his part, she must say. She got into the bathroom and went straight for the large stall. After the attack in that café bathroom, she feels a bit safer in the larger stalls. If anything like that happened again, she doesn’t want to be in a smaller one.

She still thinks about the toilet seat attacking her in the middle of using it. She chuckled as she flushed the toilet, then opened the stall and went to the sink. She looked at herself in the mirror as she washed her hands.

Okay, she’s had enough to drink. She needs to switch to soda, or she’s going to get drunk before the night is over.

The bathroom door opened, and she watched in the mirror as the man from earlier walked in and stared at her reflection.

“I already said no,” she said as she watched him.

“But you and I both know you didn’t mean it. You just didn’t want your brother to be disappointed in you,” he said with a smile.

She turned to him with a harrumph.

“We can do it quickly, and he’ll never know,” he said as he stepped towards her.

“I don’t think so. You better stay back if you know what’s good for you,” Aurora said as she watched him.

“Just because your brother works for Romano, doesn’t mean you have to listen to him.”

“Look,” she said as she pointed at him, “I’m the one who said no…”

“Sure,” he said as he took another step towards her.

A group of women walked into the bathroom and shoved the man out of their way as they chatted, not even noticing there was a man in the women’s restroom.

Aurora took the moment of distraction to slip out and hurry to the table where Sofia and Nicola waited for her.

“Can we please get out of here?” She almost cried.

That was just too close for call in there. If not for those women, who knows what would have happened.

“What’s going on?” Sofia asked as she looked towards the women’s bathroom. When she saw the man from earlier walk out and look both ways, before he moved into a crowd of people, she jumped to her feet with a growl.

“Some never learn,” Nicola said with annoyance, he had seen the same thing.

“Please,” Aurora pleaded.

“Okay, Piccolo,” Sofia said as she picked up Aurora’s purse and took her by the arm.

“I’m going to go tell Ren we’re leaving,” Nicola said as he left them and headed over to where Ren sat at a table with Martina.

“Ren,” Nicola said with a nod to the man.

“Nicola,” Ren said as he watched the other man. “What’s going on?”

“Little sister had a scare in the bathroom, we’re taking her home.” Nicola said as he motioned his head towards Sofia and Aurora, who were heading out the front door.

Ren jumped to his feet. “What happened?”

Nicola leaned forward and whispered into Ren’s ear. Ren stared at his friend, then looked back at Aurora.

“We will see that she gets home safely.”

Ren nodded, “thanks, Nicola.”

Nicola laughed, “she’s my sister, after all, I always look out for family,” he said as he slapped Ren on the shoulder, “enjoy your date.”

Martina looked between the two men as they talked, then turned and watched Nicola walk away.

She turned to Ren with a grin. “Does big brother know you’re sleeping with little sister?”

Ren grunted as he sat back in his seat. “He does,” he said with annoyance, “not that it’s any of your business.”

“Does he know how slutty she dresses for you?”

Ren snorted, “enough from you. Shut up and drink your drink.”

She chuckled as she took a sip of her drink. She had hit a sore spot there. Maybe since big brother has little sister, tonight will be her night to seduce him, show him that she has much more then that slut will ever have.

Martina looked at the scanty lingerie she had bought a week ago, in hopes of catching Ren alone. But the bitch was always there. She found an unlocked window and snuck into his house, he’s probably asleep. He will get a great wakeup call when she jumps him.

She walked down the hall and stopped at his bedroom door, then paused when she heard noises inside. She opened the door a crack and almost groaned when she saw him screwing the slut again.

Damn, does that woman ever leave his side?

“Aurora,” Ren moaned.

No way. She thought as she stared at them.

He’s screwing the boss’s daughter. No wonder they don’t display affection outside the bedroom. She had to place her hand over her mouth to keep from saying anything as she quietly closed the door, then exited through the same window and chuckled as she made her way to the boss’s office.

She pulled the coat snugly around her as she walked up the many stairs to the top floor and walked to Mr. Romano’s office. Those two will be split up so fast, and she will swoop in to comfort him. Yes, this will be great.

She knocked on the door.

“Come in.”

Martina opened the door and smiled at the man who had hired her to play his daughter, not knowing that his second has been playing his daughter this whole time. She chuckled.

“Sir,” she said with a bright smile.

“What is it, Martina?” Dom asked without looking up from his papers.

“I saw something that I think you should know about.”

Dom looked up at the woman. What is she up to now?

“What did you see?”

“I went to say goodnight to Ren and found him in bed with another woman,” she said with a grin.

“Really?” Dom asked with a smile. “How is that any of your business? He is only your fake whatever he is; when you are in public…”

“Yes, sir. But it is who I found him with that is your business,” she said with a grin.

Dom paused as he stared at her. Okay, so who is his second sleeping with? He has been curious about that one himself. But how is it any of their business?

“It’s Aurora,” Martina said with a mischievous grin.

“Aurora?” Dom asked, surprised.

He had thought that that hadn’t happened. But it seems to have been going on for a while now…

“I heard him say her name and saw her. It’s the same girl I’ve been seeing him with. Long dark hair, bright blue eyes…”

“That’s my daughter,” Dom said with a nod.

Ren and Aurora. He smiled, then remembered that he had caught Ren in the pool having sex with…with…his daughter. His cheeks turned a bright red. At least Ren had had the decency to hide her from him. That would have been embarrassing…

Martina mistook the red in Dom’s face as anger and grinned as she left the room. Domenico Romano will destroy Ren’s relationship with his daughter, then she will swoop in and pick up his broken heart. And put it back together with her own two hands.

Watch out Aurora Romano, I’m about to take your man off your hands, as well as your title, The Gem of the Romano Dynasty.

Martina waited in the shadows as Ren was called to the boss’s office.

This is it, this is my time. She thought.

Mr. Romano will tell Ren that he must end his relationship with Aurora, and then Martina will be there to scoop up his broken heart and mend it.

“What are you doing, lurking in the shadows?”

Martina turned with a jump, then scowled at Sofia. “None of your business, and I’m not lurking.”

Sofia snorted. “Then what do you call it?”

“I’m waiting for Ren to come out of Mr. Romano’s office, we have a date...

“I haven’t heard anything about a date tonight,” Sofia said as she eyed the woman. Something was definitely up with her. And it can’t be anything good.

“I guess Ren doesn’t tell you everything,” Martina said with a smirk.

Sofia grunted as she opened her mouth to say something, but Domenico’s door opened, and Ren stepped out into the hall with Dom behind him.

“Make sure it doesn’t happen again,” Dom growled.

Martina grinned. It’s happening already. Domenico Romano is putting an end to the affair between his second and his daughter.

“Sofia!” Dom barked angrily.

“Yes, Papa?”

“Did you know about it?”

Sofia looked at Ren, who nodded to her, and she sighed. “Yes, Papa.”

“Get in here!” He ordered as he held the door open.

With a deep sigh, Sofia followed Dom into his office.

Martina looked at Ren. “Everything all right?” She asked innocently.

Ren grumbled as he passed her and headed to his office.

Martina grinned. She will bide her time, then strike when he thinks all hope is lost.

“Sorry, Papa,” Sofia said with a frown as she watched her foster father move behind his desk.

“I wish one of you had told me about it. I had to hear about it from a bouncer,” Dom said with a shake of his head. “And what was Aurora doing at the Night Club anyways?” He asked, his left eyebrow rising in question.

Sofia took a deep breath. “She had discovered some of what is going on. She knows that Martina is pretending to be her, in public, and that she can’t be herself.”

“How did she find out- never mind,” he grumbled as he shook his head. He knows precisely how his daughter had figured out what was going on.

“Nicola told everyone that she’s his sister.”

Dom nodded, “quick thinking.”

“I’m really sorry we didn’t tell you, but nothing happened, and we got out of there right away.”

Dom nodded, “don’t let her go to the restroom alone anymore. After Delilah’s attempt on her life, and now that low life piece of...

“Do you want me and Nicola to take care of the bastard?” She asked.

Dom shook his head. “It has already been taken care of. Just keep a better eye on your sister. Even if she wasn’t the Gem, she means more to me and your mother then her title.”

“Me too, Papa,” Sofia whispered, “I’ll keep a better eye on our Piccolo.”

Dom smiled, “I know you will, Principessa (princess).”

In the middle of the desert, miles from civilization, a naked, beaten, and battered man is pulled from the trunk of a black car and tossed onto the sand.

“Let this be a lesson,” the large man said as he slammed the trunk closed, “don’t touch or frighten a woman, especially if she has connections.”

The large man opened the passenger door then turned back to the groaning man on the sand.

“Consider yourself lucky. If you had done that to my daughter or sister, you wouldn’t have a dick to threaten anyone else with.”

The large man looked in the car at his partner behind the wheel. He was holding two bottles of water out to him. The large man sighed as he took the water from him, then turned and tossed them onto the sand, next to the scumbag.

“Make those last, it’s a long trek back to the city,” he grumbled. “If it was up to me, I’d let you dehydrate,” he said with a shake of his head, then pulled himself into the passenger seat and closed the door. He pointed forward, and his partner pulled out onto the road, then turned around and headed back to the city.

“That man is lucky,” the driver said with a shake of his head.

The large man nodded, “I’m just glad that I had noticed the man follow her into the bathroom.”

The driver laughed, “great thinking, sending the girls into the bathroom.”

The large man laughed, “I know that Dom doesn’t want any attention drawn to his real daughter.”

“Speaking of Dom,” the driver said as he handed a cell phone to his partner.

The bouncer nodded as he took the phone and hit the speed dial button. “Yeah,” he said as he placed the phone to his ear, “it’s done.” He listened for a minute then laughed. “I see. Yes, I will keep an eye out.” He hung up the phone then looked at his partner of more than ten years. “It seems that our little Gem has fooled us all.”

“You don’t say,” the driver said with a laugh.

“How about we find the girls and have some real fun,”the bouncer said with a grin.

The driver smiled, “they deserve it, after last night.”

“Once I told Amy what was going on, she was more than happy to intervene. Good little actress she is,” the bouncer said with a grin.

“Not much acting needed to go to the bathroom,” the driver said with a laugh.

“There is when you have to pretend that you don’t see a man in the lady’s bathroom, about to rape a young girl. Not to mention avoiding the girl’s eyes, so you don’t see the fear in them and beat the crap out of the man,” the bouncer said with a laugh.

“You’re right,” the driver said with a warm smile. He knows his partner is sweet on the little actress. Who wouldn’t be? With those pouty red lips, and that bright red hair.

“Davide; stop at the theater. I want to see if Amy and the girls are there.”

“Sure thing, partner,” Davide said with a grin as he turned down the road that led to the theater.

“Going to ask her to join me for dinner tonight,” the bouncer said.

Davide laughed, “about time,” he mumbled.

“What was that?”

Davide grinned, “I said that it’s about time that you asked Amy out on a real date. You have been pussyfooting around it for ages.”

“I wasn’t sure if she would say yes.”

Davide laughed, “with a name like Romeo, what woman could refuse you?”
