Chapter Thirty-Four: Deception of the Heart

Ren took a deep breath as he knocked on Aurora’s bedroom door. The discovery of his father being a spy, if that can be believed, was beyond comprehension. The fact that his parents actually have Mafia background made some sense.

His father’s missions had kept him away from his family much more often than he had liked, but it couldn’t be helped when it was an arranged marriage. His mother always hated his father, even when they were kids.

Riccardo Mancini wasn’t too fond of her, either.

But they had had obligations to their families and had married. When his mother had taken off with him and his sister, she had told them that their father didn’t want them, so they were going far, far away. Not realizing it was so she could do her drugs and sleep with any man who would have her, without his father finding out, and sending her to rehab, again.

Now his father wants to be a part of his life. What does he say to that? He snorted. He knows what he says, exactly what he said to his father.

‘Let me think on it.’

“Ren,” Sofia said with a smile as she opened the door to Aurora’s room, “don’t you look smashing.”

Ren smiled. “Is Aurora ready?”

Sofia grinned, “come in, she’s almost ready,” she said as she opened the door for him.

Ren entered the room and paused when he found Isabella and the maid, Savana, sitting in chairs, having a quiet conversation.

“Aurora,” Sofia said as she walked to the bathroom, “Ren is here.”

“I’ll be out in a minute,” Aurora called from the bathroom.

“So, where are you taking her?” Sofia asked as she turned to him.

“Leave the poor man alone, Sofia,” Isabella said with a laugh.

“I’m ready,” Aurora said as she stepped out of the bathroom and looked at him. “Wow, you look great,” she said with a smile.

Ren stared at her. He couldn’t get his tongue to move, or any other part of his body, except for one anatomy that had a mind of its own at the moment.

Aurora frowned. “Is it that bad?”

Ren tried to swallow and almost choked. Bad? Oh no, it wasn’t bad, not the word he would use at all. She looked great, beautiful, wonderfully delicious. She did as he asked and didn’t wear anything long-sleeved. She wore a light blue dress, which made her eyes sparkle the most beautiful blue he has ever seen. The sleeves were short and barely covered her shoulders.

Beautiful, sexy shoulders that he wanted to lick, no he wanted to nip. The tops of her breasts were exposed, and the beautiful olive skin against the blue material made his mouth water.

He could see her nipples straining against the fabric and almost let out a groan. He stopped himself, if there weren’t people in the room, he’d say screw dinner and toss her on the bed. As he lifted the skirt up her body, he’d kiss every piece of skin.

“Ren,” Isabella said from behind him, but he barely heard her, his ears were ringing so loudly.

Sofia noticed the bulge in the man’s pants and chuckled as she walked past him to reassure her mother that everything was fine.

“I knew it,” Aurora said as she backed into the bathroom, “I’ll change.”

Ren growled as he jumped the distance between them and took her into his arms. “Don’t you dare,” he hissed, then his lips were on hers.

The other women in the room chuckled as Aurora gasped.

“You have me so hot that I’m about to throw these women out of the room, so I can have my way with you,” he whispered into her ear.

“Oh,” she breathed as her eyes opened wide.

He grinned down at her. “I love you.”

She smiled, “I love you too.”

“Don’t you have reservations?” Sofia asked from behind them, with a chuckle.

“In a minute,” Ren grumbled.

“Ren?” Aurora asked as she eyed him, then she felt his erection and chuckled.

“Just give me a minute,” he said as he closed his eyes. “Daffodils and lilies in a field,” he mumbled.

Aurora laughed, “some pansies too,” she whispered.

He groaned, “not helping,” he whispered.

She chuckled as she walked around him. “I will wait in the hall until you have composed yourself.”

“He is a very virile man,” Savana said as they entered the hall.

Aurora laughed as she smiled at the woman.

“I told you. Ren will always find you attractive. He loves you,” Sofia said with a smile. “Besides, you look gorgeous in that dress.”

Aurora blushed.

“I’m ready,” Ren said as he walked out of her room and into the hall.

Aurora smiled at him. “Everything good?”

He grinned at her. “More than good.”

Ren sat in the restaurant across from Aurora and stared at her. Ren had noticed the looks she was getting. Some were in awe of her beauty, and some in shock of her scars. But he didn’t care, her scars made her that much more beautiful. It shows the horrors she has been through, and she is still here, still going strong.

“Stop looking at me like that,” she hissed at him from across the table.

He smiled at her. “Like what?”

“Like you’re about to lay me on the table and eat me for the main course,” she whispered as she leaned forward.

He chuckled, “that actually sounds good.”

Her eyes widened, then she smiled at him.

“Don’t smile like that, or I may just do exactly what you suggested.”

“I didn’t suggest it,” she hissed.

He laughed, “I can see it in your eyes,” he said.

“See what?” She asked as she batted her lashes at him.

He groaned, “that the idea sounds just as much fun to you, as it does to me.”

She felt her face flush and pressed her cool hands to her cheeks.

“Oh good, dinner has arrived.” He said with a smile as the waiter walked up to their table with trays in his hands.

“For the lady,” the waiter said as he placed her plate in front of her.

“Thank you,” Aurora said with a bright smile that lit her face.

The waiter sucked in a breath, then shook his head.

Ren grinned. That’s what happens when you look at the scars without seeing the beauty.

“And the gentleman,” the waiter said as he tried to clear his throat.

“Thank you,” Ren said with a nod.

“I’m so hungry, I didn’t eat lunch,” Aurora said as she picked up the fork and started eating.

Ren smiled. “How is it?”

She nodded, “good,” she said as she smiled at him.

He chuckled, “you have some sauce on your chin.”

She wiped her chin with her hand but missed the sauce.

“Here, let me,” he said as he motioned for her to come across the table as he held his napkin up.

She smiled as she leaned forward and closed her eyes. But instead of using his napkin, he licked the sauce from her chin. She sucked in a breath, and her eyes popped open. He chuckled at the look on her face.

“Yeah, you’re right, it’s good,” he said as he sat back in his seat.

Aurora moved back into her seat and looked down at her food. She wasn’t hungry for her dinner anymore. Aurora looked up at Ren. She was hungry for a whole different kind of meal.

“Don’t look at me like that or I’ll crawl under the table and have my dessert.”

She choked on the air in her lungs and tried to take a drink of her water.

He chuckled, then went back to eating his dinner.

They small talked and smiled a lot at each other. When dessert came to the table, he fed her a bite of his, and he almost lost it in his pants, when her tongue licked the spoon, then her lips. Things need to start moving faster here, before he drags her under the table and has his way with her, with all these people around them watching.

“Is that your phone ringing?” She asked as she looked at his coat.

“Crap,” he groaned as he picked up the phone. “Mancini here.”

Aurora smiled as she watched him talk on his phone. With the kind of work he does for her father, she wasn’t surprised he hadn’t turned his phone off. Not that she really knows what exactly he does for her father.

“Shit!” Ren hollered, which got the attention of the others around them.

Aurora stared at him; her eyes open wide.

“Yeah, they found her.”

Ren listened to his spy as the man told him what was already in motion.

“Get her out of there, sir.”

“Thank you, Bradley,” Ren said as he looked up at the front of the restaurant. “Things have just come through my boy, and we will have to part ways.”

Bradley cursed, “you’re a slime.”

Ren chuckled, “same to you,” he said, then hit end call and replaced his cell into his jacket pocket.

Aurora smiled at him. “Troubles at work?”

“You have no idea,” he grumbled as he watched her eyes twinkle at him. God, this will hurt more than anything he has ever done in his life. “Aurora,” he said as he watched her.

“Yes, Love?”

He groaned. Did she really need to say that word like that? He already feels like the lowest cad ever to have existed.

“Please remember what I told you.”

She looked at him with her eyebrows furrowed.

“And don’t forget it,” he said as he pulled his gun from his back and let her see it as he pointed it at her.

Aurora’s eyes widened so extensively that they took up most of her face as she stared at his gun.

“Give it up, Aurora,” he said as he shook the gun at her. “You’re not getting away this time.”

Aurora held back a sob. What was going on?

“I see you have our Miss Romano, where you want her,” a man said with a grin as he pulled a chair up to the table.

“Yeah, well, fool me once,” Ren said with a growl.

Aurora felt a tear slide down her cheek. “Ren?” She asked with a hitch in her voice.

“Shall we make a scene, or will you come with us nicely?” The other man asked as he pulled a gun out from under his coat and pointed it at her.

Aurora almost swooned. What was going on?

“Come along, Aurora, don’t make this hard on you,” Ren said as he got to his feet.

“Ren,” she cried as the other man pulled her to her feet and dragged her out of the restaurant.

She turned to see Ren following them, a serious look on his face. What was going on? How could Ren do this to her father? To Her!

“Keep walking,” he said as he glanced at her, then looked back ahead of him.

With a cry, she let the man half drag her to a waiting car and shove her into the back seat, then join her. She watched as Ren got into the passenger seat and felt her heart fall to her feet. It had all been a game to him. A way to get to her father. A way to make her trust him.

What a horrible Deception!

Aurora cried out as the large man shoved her into a chair in a dank, dark room that looked like a cellar.

“Trevisani will be here soon,” he said as he turned to Ren.

“How did you figure it out?” Ren asked as he talked to the man.

The man snorted. “We have other spies other than you.”

Ren nodded as he moved to the side of the room and leaned against the wall.

“I’m surprised you hadn’t caught on sooner.”

Ren shrugged, “just another piece of ass to me.”

The man laughed, and Aurora felt her stomach plummet to her knees.

“Another notch on that bedpost, huh? I bet she’s really good too. With those fiery blue eyes and that long dark hair,” the man said as he touched Aurora’s hair. “Probably a lot better company before she got cut up, though.”

“Pussy is pussy.”

Aurora’s head whipped to Ren. Pussy is pussy?

“Amen to that,” the man snorted.
