Chapter Six: The Heir He Never Knew

Isabella looked out the car’s window, at the large mansion, with wide eyes. It was so much bigger than the last one.

“Holy shit,” Jayme said as he stared at the mansion.

“Language,” Isabella said as Stefano opened the door for her.

It hadn’t taken Stefano long to sneak them onto a jet and fly them out here. He hasn’t been in contact with Dom, fearing that someone may be listening.

Jayme jumped out of the limo and joined his mother. They walked together up the stairs that led up to the front door.

Once inside, Isabella took in a sharp intake of breath. Stefano chuckled when he heard her.

“You two, wait here, I’ll tell the boss that I have retrieved you.”

Isabella nodded. Her stomach was in such tight knots, she could barely breathe. She hasn’t seen her husband in twenty years. Did she look the same? She knows she’s a little bit heavier than when he had last seen her. But raising two kids on your own; can do that to a woman. Especially when you have to keep looking over your shoulder to be sure no one is after you or your children.

A loud noise had her looking up as a door flung open, and her husband rushed to the balcony at the top of the stairs.

“Bella,” he breathed when he saw her.

“Dom,” she cried.

Domenico Romano rushed down the stairs towards his wife. She’s finally home.

With tears in her eyes, Isabella ran to her husband and jumped into his arms as he stepped off the last step.

“Bella,” Dom whispered as he held her close. She was just as beautiful as he remembered her.

“Oh, Dom,” she cried against him.

Dom set his wife on her feet, then brushed her hair from her face. The years have been good to her. She barely looked her age, and her hair was just as beautiful as he remembered it.

“You’re so beautiful,” he breathed as he leaned forward and took her mouth.

Isabella groaned when her husband’s lips touched hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck and held him close as he devoured her.

The clearing of a throat; barely penetrated their thoughts. Isabella sighed as she reluctantly pulled her head back from her husband. She turned to her son with a smile. He had an odd look on his face, and she almost laughed. He has never seen his mother act like this before. Well, he better get used to it, because they’re home now, where they belong.

“Sorry,” she said as she took a step back from her husband.

Dom looked from his wife to the young man behind her. He looked familiar, but he didn’t know how or where.

“Dom,” Isabella said when she saw the look on her husband’s face. He was trying to figure out who the boy was.

Dom looked down at his wife. Had she found someone while she was hiding? No, he knows her too well. Maybe the boy was Aurora’s boyfriend. But then, why would he be with Bella and not Aurora?

“Dom,” Isabella said with a laugh as she watched her husband’s brain work overtime, “this is Jayme.”

He looked down at her. Jayme? The boy has the name they had agreed on if they ever had a boy.

“Our son,” she whispered.

Dom stared at the boy. That was what was so familiar, the boy looks just like him.

“Son,” he choked out.

“Hey, Pops,” Jayme said with a small wave.

“My son?” Dom asked as he pulled away from his wife and headed towards the boy.

“Mom told me everything…” Jayme stopped talking when Dom pulled him into an embrace.

“My son,” Dom cried as he held onto him, “I have a son.”

Jayme laughed as he recovered and hugged his father. “Yeah, Pops, you do.”

Dom backed up from his son and looked at him. “Look at you.”

Jayme grinned, “mom was right, I do look like you.”

Dom laughed, “spitting image.”

Isabella wiped away a tear as she watched her husband and son.

Dom placed his arm over his son’s shoulders then turned to his wife. “Why hadn’t you told me you were pregnant?”

Isabella smiled “because I wasn’t.”

“How’s that?” He asked as his eyebrow raised.

“Uh, you remember the last thing we did before we had to go our separate ways?”

Dom laughed, “to think, our last uh…”

Jayme laughed, “I know how babies are made, Pops. I am nineteen.”

“Nineteen,” Dom said with a shake of his head, “I have missed so much. So, are you taking college classes?” Dom asked as he walked with his son towards his wife.

Isabella smiled as her husband wrapped his other arm around her and headed down the small set of stairs that led into the central part of the house.

“Nah. Collage isn’t my scene. That’s more, Aurora’s style.”

“Aurora,” Isabella whispered.

Dom looked down at his wife and smiled. “She’s in good hands.”

“Have you heard anything…”

“Every day,” Dom said with a nod.

“Good,” she breathed as she fell against him.

“So, what is your scene?” Dom asked as he looked at his son, who was just as tall as he was. A son, he has a son! An heir.

“Mostly karate. I have…had a tournament next month.”

Dom smiled, “Karate, huh?”

“He’s a black belt,” Isabella said with a grin.

“Is that so?” Dom asked bemused. “You will have to show me what you’ve got, some time.”

Jayme grinned, “sounds like fun.”

“Sir,” Stefano said as he walked into the room.

Dom turned to his bodyguard. “Can it wait?”

“No, sir,” Stefano said with a shake of his head.

Dom sighed, “I’ll have the maid show you to your rooms,” he said, then kissed his wife on the lips.

“I love you,” she whispered as she looked up into his beautiful brown eyes.

Dom grinned, “E ti amo (and I love you),” he said as he touched his fingertips to her cheek, then turned and followed Stefano from the room.

“Wow, Mom,” Jayme said as he looked around the place.

“I know,” Isabella said with a sigh.

“Mom,” Jayme said with a laugh.

Isabella shook her head and looked at her son. “Sorry.”

“Look at this place,” he said as he spun in a circle.

Isabella chuckled, “it’s much bigger than the last one.”

“You didn’t tell me that Pops is loaded,” he said as he looked at her.

“What did you think that being an heir meant?” She asked with a laugh.

“I don’t know,” he said as he shrugged his shoulders.

“Madam,” a woman said with a bow as she entered the room.

“Hello, Savana. It is good to see you again,” Isabella said with a smile as she watched the maid.

“You too, Madam,” Savana said as she picked up one of their bags.

“I’ve got that,” Jayme said as he took it from her.

“Such a sweet boy,” Savana said as she patted his cheek.

Jayme lifted their bags, and they followed the maid to their rooms. Jayme whistled when he entered the room that would be his, and let the maid take his mother’s bags from him. Isabella waved to her son, then followed the maid to the master bedroom.

Isabella felt so nervous as she entered the room. It has been twenty years since she has been in a bed with a man. Twenty years!

“It is good to have you home, madam. Sir has been so lonely,” Savana said with a smile.

Isabella smiled, “it’s good to be home, Savana.”

Isabella stood at the window in hers’ and Dom’s room. Dinner wasn’t what she had hoped it would be. It was just her and Jayme, but Jayme didn’t seem to mind. He had dug into his steak, like a starved man. She knows Dom had missed her, but to only have that short amount of time with him.

“Il mio amore (my love).”

Isabella turned to her husband’s voice. A smile brightened her face when she looked at him. He was still the most gorgeous man she has ever seen. The years have been very good to him.

“Dom,” she cried as she flew across the room and into his arms.

Dom sighed as he held his wife in his arms. She still felt so good against him. He tilted her head back and kissed her.

“Sorry, I couldn’t get away for dinner. There is so much we have to do, to make sure Trevisani doesn’t find out that you are home, and that I have an heir,” he said as he laid his forehead against hers.

“I understand,” she said out of breath. “Is Aurora still safe?”

Dom sighed as he nodded.

Isabella stared up at him. “Dom. There’s something you’re not telling me.”

Dom laughed, “you always could read me.”

She smiled, “like a book.”

He sighed heavily, “there have been four attempts on her life.”

“No,” Isabella breathed.

“Don’t worry, my man has her,” he said as he kissed her forehead.

“Can you trust him?” She cried.

He nodded, “with my own life. Which I have several times. He is my second in command.”

“Second?” She squealed, knowing that the second in command is only used for urgent matters.

He laughed. “Do you see now how important you and Aurora are to me? And now, Jayme. They can never know about him,” he said as he pulled her into his arms.

“Will this second in command, be jealous that you have an heir now?” She asked as she pulled back and looked up at him.

Dom shook his head. “There will be nothing to be jealous of. My Second is different from my heir. And I’m sure they will get along, he’s not much older than Aurora.”

“Were you looking for a son?” She asked as she eyed him.

Dom sighed, “I was looking for a way to bring you and our daughter home, and he needed a place, and some straightening out. He had had a rough childhood. His mother had killed herself after a man had killed his little sister. He wasn’t in the best of places when I found him.”

“Oh no,” she breathed as she looked up into his warm brown eyes.

“Enough talk,” he said as he lifted her into his arms.

She squealed with a soft laugh as he carried her to the bed.

“I have missed you so much,” he said as he laid her down on the bed.

“I have missed you more then you could possibly know,” she whispered.

“Then show me,” he said as he took her mouth.

Isabella groaned as she kissed him back.

It didn’t take them long to strip each other of their clothes. She had never taken a lover, and he would have died before touching anyone but his wife.

When he entered her, she cried out his name, and he kissed her. She was so tight, he groaned with pleasure. Twenty years was a long time to go without someone’s touch. Without the feel of a woman around his cock.

Yes, he could have had many lovers over the years, he had even dated a couple of women, for his reputation only. But he’d never slept with any of them.

He knew his wife was out there, waiting for him to bring her home.

“Bella,” he whispered as he kissed down her throat.

Isabella moaned as she moved beneath him. It has been so long since she has touched this man, any man. She hasn’t even had a date in twenty years. Oh, she knows he has. She has followed him, on the net, in newspapers. She always knew what he was up to. She saw his dates, saw his smiles. But those smiles had never reached his eyes. And she knows that he never took them to bed. She knows her Dom, she knows he would never cheat on her.

Even though they had been estranged for twenty years.

They showed one another how much they had missed each other, all night, and into the brightness of day. Never being more than a touch apart.

If they could, they would spend eternity making up for the past twenty years.
