I Love You

I stroked my thumb over her soft hand and stared at the IV drip attached to her wrist. Four days it had been fucking four days since Rose blacked out in my arms. I didn’t waste my time and quickly brought her to Alpha Jacob’s pack as he had suggested himself but it was no help either because the pack doctor was clueless with what had happened to her.

I was then compelled to bring her back to the Royal Pack hoping General Maya would be able to help me out. I still remember how mortified I was with what Maya had to say.

I stood near the bed as General Maya did the checkup. My heart was pounding in my chest and my wolf was restless not liking the stationary state of our mate. My heart bled for what she had gone through and her only living family blaming her for it.

“What’s wrong with her?”, I asked as soon as Maya was done but she ignored me and I could see her eyes glaze over as she mind linked someone.

Minutes later two nurses came in with an IV drip and a heart monitor. I watched the nurses help Maya hook the IV drip inside her arm and connect it to a bag of transparent liquid and set up the monitor which kept track of her vitals.

“General Maya I must know what has happened to her.”, I demanded impatiently as the nurses left.

Maya sighed and replied, “Her brain has entered a state of coma and her body has completely shut down. I don’t know how but she has completely cut off her wolf which means there is no way her wolf can contact her or heal her.”

I could feel my heart thundering now as fear gripped my insides.

“How long will it take for her to wake up?”

“You don’t understand, Zaphrostine.”, She paused for a moment before she whispered in sadness, “She doesn’t want to wake up. She’s trying to kill herself.”

Flashback over

Maya said that she needed to study more on this condition because it was a very unusual one. According to her, a human can never cut off their wolf so as of yet there was nothing that I could do but wait.

“Come on, beautiful. Hang in there for me. You can’t leave me just yet. I won’t allow that.”, I whispered in the empty room.

My heart completely shattered when Maya informed me that my mate was trying to kill herself. It ached for the things she had to go through. Truly she is the strongest person in the world.

I jerked my head up when the door to the infirmary threw open and Maya came running towards us.

“I found a way! I am disappointed I didn’t think of it before butt there is a way my king. I can’t guarantee you she will wake up but it’s worth a shot.”, She panted as she came to a sudden halt in front of the bed. Her hair was sticking out of her bun and there were dark bags set under her eyes. I was even in a worse condition then hers. I had been by her side the entire time leaving only for quick showers.

I sprang up to my feet.

“What is it?”

“This can only be tried by you. The oldest trick in the book, you’re her mate. Only you can reach out to wake her up. This might be very exhausting for you because its not easy to try and wake up a wolf out of a coma but there have been cases before. Our chances are low but she might wake up if you try convincing her.”, Maya explained and I listened intently.

“How do I start?”, I asked her immediately not wanting to waste anymore time. I don’t care if this has a side effect on me, Hell I’ll lay down my life for her.

The doors burst open again and in walked Elijah, Charlotte, Genera and Jessica.

“I informed them on my way down here because you’re going to pass out for at least four hours if this works and I need Luna to be around some similar faces when she wakes up.”, Maya explained and I nodded my head.

I rolled my shoulders and stretched my head as I walked towards her but I felt a hand on my shoulder.

“She’ll wake up, Zaph.”, Elijah assured me and I nodded my head, clenching my fists. The girls stared at me with hope in their eyes and I sat down on the bed beside Rose.

“You must maintain a physical contact with her at all times.”, Maya explained.

I let out a shaky breath and grabbed her hand in mine, holding it tightly.

“No focus all your energy on contacting her. You might feel a strong force repelling but fight it with all you can, try to get past it, try to get past her walls. You might feel her wolf but very faintly because she is in trapped in the corner of her mind.”

I closed my eyes and reached out to Rose but I jerked up as I was pushed back with a strong repelling force. I gritted my teeth and tried again only for it to happen again. I waited for a moment and took a deep breath in before pushing past the force with all my will. I panted heavily as I finally got past her walls. Rather than being happy about it the silence inside her mind was unsettling.

My heart sunk as there was no response.

“Love, please respond to me.”

“It’s been four days, Rose. I’m desperate to hear you enchanting voice.”

“Get out of my head, Zaphrostine.”

My breath caught in my throat as I heard her broken voice.

“Talk to me, baby.”

“I’m begging you, Zaphrostine, leave me alone.”, She pleaded.

“No. I’m not leaving, Rose.”

“Leave me alone! Just leave me alone.”, She shouted at me.

“Listen to me, Rose. What happened wasn’t your fault.”

Wasn’t it though? He wiped out an entire pack because of me.”, She said bitterly.

“And I promise you he will be punished for it. I promise you he will suffer the worst possible death for killing every single one of those innocents. But I can’t do it alone, my love. You have to wake up, not for me but for every person that was killed.”, I said in a determined voice.

“This is what I was afraid of from the very beginning. This is what I was trying to avoid. You have to understand, Zaph, that I- I can’t live with this guilt. It’s slowly killing me and I have no desire to save myself so just- just let me go.”, She whispered the last part.

“No, baby. You deserve so much more than death. You have to be strong if not for me then for your father, your brother and your… mother. Do you think this is what they would have wanted for their daughter? They might not be here physically but their spirits would always reside inside your heart, guiding you through thick and thin just like I would be by your side for every step you take.”

Everything was silent for a few seconds before she spoke up,

“Zaphrostine, if you want me to wake up, you must promise me one thing, You, won’t ever leave me not now, not ever.”

“I promise you I won’t ever leave you. There is no place I would be if not by your side. I love you so much, Rose that I would never forgive myself if I ever leave you.”

“I love you too, Zaphrostine.”

I felt myself extract from her mind and the next thing I know darkness overcomes me.

I blinked my eyes open not being able to see anything clearly because of my blurred vision. I blinked my eyes a few times before my vision cleared and I registered the faces around me. Everyone was standing at the foot of the bed of the infirmary. All of them stared at me expectantly with sad smiles on their faces. I slowly clenched my fists and tried to sit up but weakness and exhaustion washed over me. General Maya as I recognized rushed towards me and helped me sit up slowly.

“Water.”, I croaked out as the dryness of my throat prevented me from speaking.

Charlotte passed Maya a bottle of water and Maya unscrewed the lid of the bottle and brought it up to my lips. She titled it and I thirstily gulped down the water. I could slowly feel energy draining back into my body as I released my wolf.

“Where’s Zaphrostine?”, I asked Maya.

She slowly shifted to the side and I saw him lying on the bed beside mine.

“What happened to him?!”, I asked her in a panicked voice and quickly swung my feet over the edge of the bed but before I could even step on the ground I was pushed back on the bed by Maya.

“Calm down, Luna. He has just blacked out. It drains a lot of energy to wake up your mate from a comatose state.”, Maya explained.

Guilt consumed my mind. He went through all that to wake me up.

“Don’t worry about it, my queen he will be up in less than four hours. I’ll remove the drip and detach you from the monitor seeing as you’re regaining your energy with your wolf active.”, Maya said and got to freeing me.

“When did you guys get back?”, I asked Gen and Jessica as I saw them.

“We got back as soon as we heard what happened.”, Gen said while Jess came over to hug me as soon as Maya was done.

Jess engulfed me in a tight hug and rubbed my back soothingly. She kissed the top of my head and stood up backing away as the others took turns hugging me. My heart swelled with warmth as all these people took their turns calming me down and helping me regain my strength.

“I’ll send over some food. Please make sure you eat it and then you’re free to do whatever you want.”, Maya said.

“Thank you, Maya, for saving me.”, I gave her the tiniest smile that I could muster up.

“It is my duty, my queen, and besides you should thank your mate for it.”, She smiled at me and left the room.

“I still don’t think you should be alone. Maybe just wait until the king has woken up.”, Charlotte expressed her feelings as I pulled on my jacket and wrapped the muffler around my neck.

“I’ll be fine, Char. I just need to be alone for some time.”, I said.

I had just finished taking a hot bath after eating the food that the nurse had brought.

“Are you sure you want to be alone?”, Gen asked me scanning my face.

I nodded my head and walked towards the door of the infirmary.

“I’ll be back in half an hour. A little cold air would do me good.”, I turned my head over my shoulder and assured the three girls.

I wasted no time in reaching the family house and stood before it. There must be some way that Rednax found out that I had told Zaph. I am very sure that no one was in our vicinity or near the house when I told him so how did he find out?

I slowly opened the door and walked inside the house, trying not to make any noise with my boots. I creeped inside and stood in the living room. My eyes scanned over every object in the room but when I saw nothing helpful, I closed my eyes. I let my wolf take partial control and focused on my hearing. I could hear the ticking of the clock, the slight buzzing of the tiny insects but my suspicions were confirmed when I heard a very low humming sound. No wonder I missed it the night I was here. Even with my wolf I have to pay really close attention. The humming sound was not a sound of any insect but of an electronic machine barely the size of a peanut. I focused on where the sound was coming from and walked towards the table where we ate our dinner. I grabbed the chair on the other side of table and turned it upwards. Sure, enough I saw a tiny black machine stuck to the side of the bottom side of the cushion in one corner. I placed the chair down back down and walked inside the rooms, successfully finding a bug in a well hidden spot in every room.

Well this confirmed two things for sure.

One that this family house is not the only place which is bugged. If my guesses are correct, almost all the important rooms in the castle are bugged including our quarters, Zaph’s office.

Two there is someone working for Rednax from inside the castle. A mole.

I watched as they lowered both my dad’s and Silas’s coffins inside the grave. Zaphrostine tightened his hold on me from behind and kissed the top of my head but I was too numb to feel it. We had arrived at my pack two days ago to bury all the bodies of the dead members and honour their remains.

We did the burials in three parts because there were so many people, keeping my brother’s and my dad’s for the last.

My sister stood a few feet away from me with her mate and I glanced at her to see her eyes glossed over with memories from the past. Elijah and Charlotte stood a few feet behind us and Gen and Jess to the right of them. There weren’t many people except for a few members from Jacob’s pack.

I stepped out of Zaph’s hold once their coffins were completely lowered. I first walked towards Dad’s coffin. I bent down and grabbed a handful of soil in my hand. A single tear slipped out of my eye as I threw the soil over his coffin. I then walked over to Silas’s coffin. I again bent down and grabbed a fistful of soil. I bit my lip and took a deep breath to prevent myself from bursting out in before opening them and throwing the soil over his coffin.

I walked back to Zaphrostine and he was quick to wrap his hands around me. I leaned against him for the rest of the ceremony.

The graveyard started emptying as people started leaving. Sarah stayed behind for sometime before Jacob led her inside. Once everyone had gone leaving me and Zaph the only people there. I walked towards the headstones, all three of them lined together. I had decided to bury them both beside my mother.

Tears streamed down my eyes as I placed a flower before each of their headstones.

“I know you guys didn’t mean to leave me but I also know now that I have to accept that fact. There won’t be a moment that will pass by that I won’t think of you but I also know you all will look over me and provide me the strength when I need it. “, I said in a chocked voice, my throat constricting due to the emotions overwhelming me.

I felt the presence of my mate behind me and I turned around, throwing my arms around his torso and sobbing into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me without saying a word and just held me close to him as I broke down.

You will pay for this Rednax, mark my words.

Yeah I’ve risen from the dead yet again. I don’t want to make any excuses but just say sorry for my absence.

Who do you think is the mole?

We’re nearing the end guys ☹. It’s unfortunate but true.

I wouldn’t say any more than 10 chapters or even less are left.
