I stood there in the doorway, people moving around me. Could it really be him? Lily quickly grabbed my arm and pulled me away towards a couch. Glaring at the people already sitting to move over. A million thoughts ran through my head.
There he was. Tyler. The boy who had taken my heart at such a young age. The boy everybody had a crush on in third grade. The boy I kissed right before he moved away.
But there he was leaning lazily on a wall talking to my ex, Jake. They had been best friends since birth and when Tyler moved away Jake took it a little hard.
Lily looked at me, a look of confusion and worry written on her face. "I'm so sorry Emma, I had no idea he would be here. We can go if you want to."
I grabbed her wrist and pulled her down as she stood up. "It's not Jake." I said " it's the person talking to him, is that Tyler?" I asked.
She looked at me a now relieved expression on her face. "Yea, he moved back just yesterday." She wiggiled her eyebrows. "Why?"
"Uh, uh....." I stuttered. "Oh look Hope's coming over." Hope practically skipped over to us.
"Omg you guys, have you seen Tyler!" She shouted over the noise, causing people to glance at us. "He is like sooo hot now! And the girls are like all over him." She let out a bubbly laugh.
I looked over to where he stood. She was right. Practically every girl that passed him tried to get an ounce of his attention. I rolled my eyes. He would no doubt be the buzz for a while.
I couldn't disagree with the other girls though. His black hair and deep hazle eyes made my knees weak. Not to mention his build and height. I almost sighed in content until I saw him start to walk over.
I quickly stood up muttering some excuse about going to the bathroom, before walking towards the pool in the backyard. I looked over my shoulder before realizing that he was actually following me. I blushed and tried to push through the crowd.
Just as I was about to step into the garden I tripped on someone's foot. As I stumbled, I braced myself for the worst. All of a sudden an arm slipped around my waist and pulled me up.
I mentally gulped as I came face to face with Tyler. He looked even more gorgeous up close, I was sure her could heartbeat, pounding as I looked into his eyes.
Quickly regaining composure, I smiled. "Thanks for saving me."
"No problem" he said with a smirk. "Though I do have to ask why you practically ran away from me."
"Um, uh..." I stuttered. He was staring at me with such an intent gaze. He quickly looked up and down my body. Making me suddenly feel very self conscious.
I slapped his shoulder before I could think. "You're staring" I said before he could react.
He looked in my eyes and with a confident smile said "I like what I see to."
I looked at him in awestruck and disbelief. Laughing I started to walk away. He quickly slid his hand into mine and looked into my eyes. "I wasn't joking."
The rest of the night we spent talking. Catching up on what we had been doing over the years. I was surprised to find out that he was in all honors classes and even had a few awards for math.
I told him about my family and even finding myself open up to him about the divorce. It has been hard. My parents had tried to make it easier by only living 30 minutes apart. Also paying for me to have a personal counciler. It still hurt, especially after them being together for the first 15 years of my life.
Tyler understood, his own parents being divorced since he was 7 years old. We talked about anything and everything. Even though I expertly avoided the topic about me dating his best friend for two months.
I wasn't ready to go that far. As we had just met after so long. He was going to start school on Monday, and I wouldn't be surprised if he found out by one of the students.
As the night slowly turned into morning he drove me home before kissing me on the cheek.
I almost skipped to my front door before I walked into my living room. What I saw was what any girl my age would dread. There they were. My three older brothers sitting on the couch, staring at me in anher and frustration.
My oldest brother David who was a sophomore in college walked over to me. My other brothers close behind.
"Where were you!" He practically shouted at me. "You had us worried to death!" He glared. "We almost called the cops, do you know what time it is."
"Hey man, chill" my brother Alex, a senior in highschool, said.
I looked at him in appreciation. My twin Eli came up to me and hugged me. Something I didn't really expect, knowing I was in trouble.
Ever since the divorce my brothers have been extremely protective. Always questioning and suspecting.
"It's none of your business" I said. Looking back over to David. I stormed up to my room, my mood now sour. I could hear my brothers trying to calm David down, but I didn't care.
They were always in my business. It was like I had no personal life as long as they were around.
I sighed. I knew that they meant well but it didn't make it any less annoying. I also knew that tommorow I was going to be grounded. Possibly for the rest of my life.
I checked the time on my phone almost taken aback by how late it really was. I flopped down on my bed, thoughts and dreams of Tyler washing over me.
