Chapter 7

We reached the mall after a short drive of ten minutes and noticed that it was swamped with people. “Do you want to go somewhere else?” Adam asked the moment we entered the mall.

“I don’t know. What do you want to do?”

“How about we search for a less crowded mall to shop?”

“Seriously? Shopping was the last thing in my list Adam,” I replied.

“You aren’t a girl, you know that right?” Adam stated and chuckled lightly.

Is it really important for all girls to love shopping? I loathe shopping. I find it ridiculous to shop for hours like it just takes me five minutes to decide what clothes to buy and voila! I am done. This is the reason I never go shopping with Racheal. She will legit try all the clothes available in the mall but in the end, buy nothing saying it doesn’t suit her taste.

“Let’s go to the gaming zone. What say?” I asked Adam. He suddenly had a very big smile on his face.

“I never expected you would say that. Let’s go!”

Argh! I shouldn’t have decided to play this game. How could I be so dumb? I knew Adam is a champ in football yet l I challenged him for a match. It’s been fifty minutes that we are playing this game and the score is 5-0. Yes! You guessed it right, my score is zero. It was a one on one football game and it looked so simple when I was standing outside and watching other people play and now that I am inside the field I am loosing miserably.

“Adam! I accept my defeat okay? Can we stop playing this game now? I am tired,” I said while trying to snatch the ball from him. He did such amazing tricks that no matter what I did, I just couldn’t steal the ball.

“Addie just a few more minutes left. Let’s continue, it’s fun.” He said and kicked the ball and baaaaaaam! Another goal.

Wow. 6-0

Sure, Adam. It’s so much fun.

“I seriously don’t want to play,” I said and dropped straight to the ground.

“Fine loser,” he replied and stepped out of the field.

Oh my god! He looks pissed.

Iimmediately got up and ran after him. “Are you angry with me?” I asked in my sweetest voice, to not piss him off anymore.

“No,” he replied bluntly.

“Do you want to go to the food court maybe?”

“Should we go somewhere else?”

“I don’t know.”

“Adammm! I am sorry okay? Don’t be so grumpy please,” I said and made the best puppy face ever.

Guess what? It actually worked. He tried to control his smile but miserably failed at it.

“You are so adorable,” he said and pulled my cheeks.

“So what do we do next?” I asked

“There is a place we could go to.”

“You will find out,” he replied with a cute grin.

“Seriously? A Photobooth!” I said and laughed.

“Yes. You remember how much we loved taking pictures in the photo booth when we were young?”

“Yes, I do,” I said and grinned like an idiot.

Adam always used to take me to a photo booth because he believed that pictures are a way to lock the memories you want to cherish later.

“Let’s go in then.” I smiled and took his hands in mine. We inserted the coin and then went inside to take our picture. We had exactly four clicks. I decided to simply smile but Adam made such a funny face which made me laugh and click the first picture was taken.

For the second one, I put my tongue out and Adam copied my expression.

For the third one, he kept his hand on my shoulder which made me crack into a smile.

For the fourth one, I just covered my face and Adam pouted his lips which made it look like he was just about to kiss my cheeks.

We both laughed when it got over and then went outside to collect our pictures. The pictures came mind-blowing. We looked so cute together. I had never really thought about this but Adam and I do look good together. I bet if I uploaded this picture on Instagram with the caption ‘Couple Goals’ a lot of people, specifically a lot of girls would be so jealous of me. I shifted all these weird thoughts out of my brain and then looked at Adam. He was smiling brightly. It was like I-am-sooooo-happy-that-I-can’t-explain-you-smile. I had never seen him smile like that before.

“Don’t we look like a real couple Addie?” He asked with his eyes still glued at the picture along with the cute smile spread on his face.

“Yes, we do. A lot of girls would kill to be at my spot right now.” I laughed and hit him on his chest. He too laughed seeing my reaction.

“But they aren’t you, so they can’t take that spot.” He said which made me laugh again. But this time Adam did not join me. He just kept quiet which made me realize that this was not a joke but something that he genuinely feels.

“Let’s go back home. Alex must be waiting,” I said to change the subject. I honestly didn’t know what to say, hence I just said the first thing that popped into my mind.

“Yes. Let’s go. We are late.” He said and started walking towards the exit of the mall.

“So how was your day?” Alex asked us while we were having our dinner in an Italian restaurant.

“Your sister is a loser,” Adam said in a snarky tone.

“I am not. That game is boring anyway,” I replied in my defense.

“Loser! You knew you were going to lose so you just left it.”

“I wasn’t losing Adam.”

“The score was 6-0. Is that called winning Addie?”

“Yes. If I wanted, I could easily turn the match.”

“Geez, you both fight like small kids,” Alex said intervening in our conversation.

“He is a kid, not me,” I said and stuck my tongue out.

“You are a kid Addie.”

“Shut up you guys. You both are so annoying,” Alex said on the top of his voice.

This quickly made us stop with whatever stupid fight was going on between us. I just said sorry and quietly began eating my food. Suddenly our table was so soft that one could hear the clattering of the spoons with the plate.

“When are you coming to meet mom and dad?” I asked to start a conversation since the silence was killing me.

“I guess after two weeks. I am stuck with some work. Don’t tell them that I am here though, I want to give them a surprise,” Alex replied and winked at me.

“What work Alex?” Adam asked out of curiosity. Even I was curious because as far as I knew, he worked in Paris and had bought this house only because his mom wanted to live there, it was Aunt’s last wish. The house was always empty except once a year when Alex came back for vacations. But during vacations, he never works. All he does is enjoy and spends time with us, this is the first time he is so busy even during his vacation.

“It’s just something. I will tell you guys later when the time is right,” Alex said hesitantly.

Was he hiding something from us?

“Okay,” I said because as much as I wanted to know what it was, I realized nagging him isn’t the best way to get my answers. Instead, I will patiently wait until he decides to come and tell me about it.

We then started talking about our childhood days, Alex told us about his experiences in Paris and Adam shared the story about his football practices. It was a fun night, spending time with Alex and Adam is always fun. We practically never stop talking because each one has something new to share every single time. Roughly half an hour later, we finished our dinner and decided to leave.

“The day is finally over my friends,” Adam said while we were walking out of the restaurant.

“Yes, and it was great guys. Thank you for coming,” Alex said and hugged us both.

“I will get the car, Addie,” Adam said and went towards the parking lot.

The moment Adam left, out of nowhere, Alex asked “So? Are you guys dating?”

“Whaaaat!? Of course not Alex. Adam’s my best friend, not my boyfriend.”

“But you guys are perfect together.”

“No. We are not.”

“He loves you, Adaline. You know that right?”

Adam? Loves me? This would be the joke of the century.

“Alex stop this okay? I am not in a mood for jokes.”

“I am not joking Ad.”

“What makes you say so?”

“Because I can see-” before he could complete his sentence Adam’s car arrived right in front of us. He rolled down the windows and said, “Time to go Addie.”

I nodded, before sitting inside the car, I went and hugged Alex tightly.

“I’ll miss you. Come soon to meet us.”

“Yes, and we will have our conversation then.” He replied.

“Okay. Goodnight.”

“Goodnight Ad.”

“Bye mate,” Adam shouted from inside the car. Alex waved at him and bid us goodbye.

It hardly took me five minutes before I went into a deep slumber. Today was a fun but tiring day. Thank you, Adam. Thank you for everything.

I hope you guys liked it ;)
