Chapter 30

“That was the most I’ve ever heard you talk.” I told Xerxes almost four hours later. Xerxes glanced over at me, his silver eyes tired as he put away his coat in the closet and began to yank at the tie around his neck, almost in annoyance.

I hid my smile as I turned to also shove off the coat I wore, dropping it unceremoniously to the bedroom floor, which earned me a scowl from Xerxes.

“They’re lovely folks.” Xerxes said absent-mindedly after managing to wrangle the tie away with a grunt. My face, for whatever reason, felt greasy and I headed towards the bathroom, coming to a halt when Xerxes stepped in front of me, blocking my way. His eyes lowered to my coat and then back to me suggestively and I sighed dramatically, lifting a hand to run my fingers against his broad jaw.

“Be a dear and put that away for me?” I chirped, unmoved when his eyes narrowed sharply. When all I got was a glare, I sighed, lifted the coat and put it away, dramatically smacking my hands together as if getting rid of dust and walked right into the bathroom, feeling Xerxes’ eyes on me.

I washed my face and brushed my teeth, glancing up every now and then to the dark skies behind the open window. It was around eleven p.m. and I wasn’t tired, probably because I had slept in the afternoon for a while.

After changing my clothes into sleepwear, I left the bathroom, my eyes eagerly taking in the sight of Xerxes’ wide muscled chest and torso. The lower half of his body rested beneath the soft duvet. I swallowed hard when Xerxes caught me staring, focusing on the lamp on the bedside table instead.

After a moment of sending off a few texts to my mother and a couple more people, I too got into bed, listening to the sound of a movie which Xerxes had put on whilst staring at the high ceiling above.

Sleep did not come and I ended up staying awake even after the movie had finished. Xerxes, to my surprise, also hadn’t fallen asleep and instead chose to rest beside me, his shoulder pressing against mine as we both stared up ahead, lost in our thoughts.

It was only minutes later that I realized how comical Xerxes and I would look to someone who decided to enter the bedroom. A bubble of mirth grew in my chest and I laughed softly. Xerxes’ head turned, thick brows raised.

“What are you laughing at?” He asked, but I shook my head. I often found that when I explained a joke that I thought of to others, they wouldn’t understand it and a strange, awkward silence would follow. I turned on my side to face Xerxes instead, my breath hitching when he too decided to follow suit. My eyes fell on his lips which were so close to mine, and then back to his eyes.

“I thought you told me you were tired earlier.” I murmured softly, noticing that those silver obs of his were no longer dull with sleep but instead gleamed with a mischievousness that made the pit of my stomach warm.

His gaze was full of heat and I cleared my throat, beginning to nervously create some distance between us, only for him to draw me forward with an arm, my eyes fluttering shut as he kissed my neck delicately.

My fingernails pinched his chest when he nipped my earlobe, pressed his lips against my own. One large palm touched my cheek, cradling it softly as he moved above me, his other hand roaming under my shirt and his fingers drifiting across the skin of my stomach.

My hips bucked at the intrusion of his fingers in my pajama shorts, when they pulled gently at my underwear.

I stifled a laugh when he couldn’t get it off, but gasped when he decided to roughly pull both my underwear and shorts off. His own boxers came off soon after and I felt a hot flush on my face.

My legs lifted to wrap around his waist when he pulled me up with his arms, giving me one last sensual kiss, his fingers digging almost painfully into my hips when he entered me, causing me to moan softly into his chest as he rocked forward, filling me even more with his hard cock.

Hazy, almost smug, silver eyes watched my face contort in pleasure as my pussy clenched around his dick when he thrusted deeply. My hands went around his neck as he lowered both of us to the bed quickly, surging forward inside me again.

My legs spread to accommodate his lower half between my thighs, the world becoming a blur as his thick cock slid in and out of me, my body trembling with each orgasm that rocketed through my body, my lips opening in awe and pleasure every time I reached my peak.

Above me, Xerxes groaned when I orgasmed, cursed softly when I tightened around him. His thrusts slowed and I rocked my hips upwards, wanting him to go faster.

My eyes rolled when he finally did, and I locked my legs around his back, keeping him firm against me as he picked up the pace, unable to keep my moans soft.

Xerxes’ grip on me tightened and I could feel his dick throbbing when he finally came inside of me, his husky moan drowning out my own as he continued to thrust, stopping only when his cock was flaccid. He pulled away when that happened, but kept me close to him, my head against his chest and legs intertwined as he gently kissed my forehead when I exhaled, eyes closing shut as I basked in Xerxes’ warmth.

“I’ve made some tea for you.” Greta said, smiling with all teeth, holding out a mug. “I’ve put in two teaspoons of sugar so it should be extra sweet for you.”

I eyed her suspiciously, but took the cup anyway. “Thanks.”

She just smiled as she walked to the counter whilst I stared down at the dark liquid, looking for any bones. When I saw none, I raised it to my lips, actually surprised that Greta was being so nice. One sip immediately made me gag at the cold, bitter taste; it definitely didn’t have any sugar in it.

I glowered at the maid as she laughed loudly at my disgusted expression, lowering the cup. “Do you get a kick out of annoying me, Greta?” I hissed, sucking on my tongue, wondering why the horrible flavour still remained in my mouth. “Was that even tea?”

Greta laughed even louder. “Enjoy, Luna.”

“You won’t be so mouthy when I have you fired, woman.”

Greta froze, but saw my half grin and scoffed. “Yeah yeah.”

I made some proper, much better tasting tea and hugged it to my chest as I walked to the living room, where Xerxes sat beside Sissy. I stopped mid-walk, wondering if I was intruding on a private moment when I saw how close they were and heard their low murmuring words.

I quickly left before they saw me, knowing that they had probably heard me approaching. I sat upstairs instead, in a library room, one which I had no idea that it existed until now. After roaming around the house and finishing off my tea, I had came upon it and was more than happy to slip inside and search through the many shelves of books.

It took me a while before I found one which was good and I settled into my chair, opening the thick, heavy book, reading through the many pages.

Minutes bled into hours and I frowned once I finished it up, yawning loudly as I stretched after standing. Penelope’s voice came from below and after I shoved the book into the spot which it had been in before, I walked downstairs and spoke with her, quickly noticing the absence of Sissy and Xerxes as well.

“How many more weeks?” I asked, looking down to her round belly.

“The doctor said anytime soon.” Penelope answered, sounding distracted as she fished in the freezer and finally found a container of ice cream. It was one that my mother had delivered for me a week or two ago. I had wanted to eat it sometime soon, but I wasn’t going to try and take it away from Penelope; I was smart enough not to mess with a pregnant woman’s food, even though it wasn’t exactly hers.

I just watched gloomily as she ate most of it whilst reclining on a sofa. “This is so good.” She moaned after taking what seemed like the twentieth bite. I frowned, glancing towards the blank television screen.

“I bet it is,” I grumbled softly. I waited until she finished the icecream off and then asked, “So do you know if the baby’s a boy or girl?”

She shook her head. “No. Flynn and I are just going to wait until the baby is born to see.”

Both of our eyes lifted when Xerxes passed by the living room, his young sister trailing behind him. Tear stains rested against her cheeks and I sighed; I guess Xerxes had broke the news about what he’d done to their mother.

Sissy’s eyes looked to me as she walked, but she quickly averted them when she saw that I was already watching her. They both headed upstairs after Xerxes greeted Penelope.

“Flynn was telling me about what you are going to do tonight.” Penelope said after a long conversation about her wanting to go on some vacation. “Be safe.”

I nodded, opening the front door and watched her drive away. Afterwards, I went upstairs and began to prepare myself for tonight, mentally going over the many precautions that would have to be done to make sure everything went smoothly.

Greta was waiting by the door of the house when the time came to leave, and I sighed at her defensive stance. The door was open, and the chilly night air drifted inside. I shifted the bag I wore up my shoulders and glared behind her at the headlights of Xerxes’ SUV.

The horn blew and I walked forward and Greta sighed, long and hard and stepped away. Giving her a lopsided smile I brushed past her and trekked down the pathway, where Leo held open the door of the vehicle for me.

Xerxes’ warm silver eyes watched as I got inside, my leg touching his as I righted myself in the seat. Before us sat Flynn and Easton; Kesley was already at the place which we had decided to meet. It was a couple blocks away from the meeting that would be taking place in the Gemma building; Kesley would have to walk there.

My heart thumped nervously as we arrived at our destination and Xerxes’ lips pulled back in a scowl as a car, one which I recognized to be Sinclair’s, drove past, peeling down the mostly empty road.

“Do you think he knows that we’re in here?” I asked softly, even though I didn't need to. But for whatever reason, fear was making my voice this way.

“No.” Flynn said. “I don’t think so at least.”

My teeth grinded hard together as I stepped out the SUV, looking across to the van parked. Kesley opened it's door loudly, offering a hand to help me inside.

Cups of coffee rested on the table and I thanked her for buying them. They would be very much needed for all of us to stay awake. As I began to drink mine, she took one up as well.

I looked over her clothes, eyes narrowing in on the very small device, a camera, discreetly attached to her dark shirt.

Everyone, including Leo, piled into the van and I was mostly silent as they all spoke, only interrupting to offer a few words of advice as she got ready to leave. Easton walked her to the exit of the parking lot and I stared as she walked away, into the dark night, her blonde ponytail swinging with each step she took.

Although I had known Kesley for a short while, she had a likeable, sincere and genuine personality and I felt like if we were to get to know one another more, we would be good friends.

“She’ll be fine.” Xerxes voice sounded by my ear. I looked up at him, arching a brow doubtfully, lips flattening in worry.
