Chapter 5:

(A/N: Sienna’s dress to the bonfire above.)

I looked at myself in the mirror for the final time.

I was wearing a black skater dress, my hair was loose over my shoulders, I had a bit of eyeliner on, along with pink lipgloss. I put on silver hoop earrings, black platform sneakers, and walked out the door.

I went to the location that Felicity had texted me.

I was greeted immediately greeted by Felicity and her friends.

“Enna! You came! God, you look amazing!” she gushes.

I smile at her. “I could say the same about you.” It’s true. Felicity wears a red strapless dress with no bra, her black hair tumbling in dark waves down her shoulders.

She blushes. “I’m turning 18 in a few hours time...I’m hoping to meet my mate.”

I gasp in horror. “But- you-you should have told me, I could have bought a gift!”

She grins at me warmly and shakes her head. “It’s fine, just the thought that you wanted to give me one is a gift enough.”

My wolf can hear the sincerity in her voice and I stare at her awestruck. How can a person be so gorgeous both inside and outside?

Then a familiar scent hits me. I look over to the bonfire, where all the good looking guys and bitches hang out. Every pack has a queen bee. I prefer to think of ‘bee’ as ‘b’ = b**ch.

I found the queen b**ch right away. She was blonde and hot, but a fake beauty rather than a real one like Fel. Her cleavage was literally spilling out of her hot pink top.

And she was perched on Kaden’s arm.

I keep a cold mask, not betraying the inferno of emotions inside me.

I could think of it as a math problem. God knows why though, I hate math.

Kaden+ any other girl = jealousy 101.

I clenched my fists as she bats her eyelashes seductively at him. Every fibre of my body seems to want to run over there, rip her to shreds and sit with him.

Zane must have sensed this. I had put my earpiece on, and my special cat eyes, they had a live feed cam on them that showed everything to Zane.

“Sienna, deep breaths...focus.”

I take in a deep breath and whisper thanks to Zane.

Felicity caught me looking at his direction, and she pats my arm sympathetically. “It’s hard with mates.”

I look at her, still with shock. “You knew?” I whisper.

She looks at me with sorry eyes. “Honey, anybody could tell.”

Ugh...damn the mate bond!!

I ignore the rage and jealousy bubbling inside me and go near a clump of bushes to talk to Zane freely and try to calm down.

I sit on a thin rock nearby. This side of the beach is peaceful and comforting, I think I’ll make this my think spot.

I had one at the SWA too, a part of the private library. A think spot is a place I come alone, usually armed with my diary, iPod or a novel. It’s a place I recollect my thoughts and self-reflect.

I take a deep breath before speaking.

“Zane?”

“Yes honey?” says his comforting voice.

“What do I do?” I ask, my voice breaking.

“Oh, Nyxie, it isn’t your fault. Mate bonds are always like this. I understand if you want to abort.”

I shake my head even though he can’t see me. “No. That’s not how I was raised. I’ll keep business before happiness.” I vow.

“That’s my Sienna,” he says, his voice full of pride. “Kyle and I miss you Enna,” he says. Kyle is his mate.

“I miss you guys too,” I say, letting a tear slip down my cheek.

I wipe it and sniffle quietly. All my barriers came crashing down when I saw Kaden with that blonde bimbo.

(A/N: NO OFFENCE TO BLONDES, I REPEAT, NO OFFENCE!!!!)

“You’re upset.” says a voice behind me. I turn, already knowing who the person is. Kaden.

“Thanks, Captain Obvious,” I say sarcastically. His eyes harden and I regret it immediately.

“Is it because of what I did with Gwen earlier?”

Gwen. It’s a term of endearment. I want to let my wolf out.

I let out a harsh, cold laugh. “Because of you and her? I could care less.”

His face turns guarded. “Who were you talking to?”

Shit. “Myself of course.”

“Hmm.” he’s not convinced.

I was almost grateful when the b**ch interrupted.

“Alpha Kaden!” screeched a sickly sweet voice.

Kaden sighs and looks up to the sky like Why Me?

I stifle my laughter as he gives me a small smile. “Your laughter is beautiful,” he whispers.

I blush.

Blush? Who tf am I?

The blondie from the bonfire comes stumbling into our view. Looking at how tightly her cleavage is trapped, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of her ladies pop out to say hello.

She stops in her tracks when she sees the position we’re in; me on the rock and Kaden next to me.

“Who is she?” demands Gwen.
