Chapter 11

Harper walked down the aisle arm in arm with grandpapa, smiling at Wyatt and Heath, internally panicking, as she was reaching the end of the aisle, she turned to look at Anika, she looked shocked, giving Harper the look, quickly covering it up with a smile before anyone else notices.

Is it really him?

He probably doesn’t recognise her

Is it really him?

Was she imagining him?

She felt like fainting

Her thoughts were racing, as the music stopped, grandpapa handed her hand to Wyatt, whispering something in his ear as Wyatt gulped and nodded, before turning to Harper, focussing his attention on her, she smiled sweetly at him as she position herself in front of Ryan and Wyatt.

Ryan started the ceremony, as Harper looked into Wyatt’s eyes, suddenly feeling guilty that she loved Liam, occasionally her eyes glances ever so slightly at Liam, he was blatantly staring at her dumbfounded. Deciding to push those issues aside, she needed to focus on Ryan officiating HER wedding.

“Please be seated.

First, I’d like to begin by welcoming everyone and thanking each and every one of you for being here on this most happy of days. It’s no accident that each of you are here today, and each of you were invited to be here because you represent someone important in the individual and collective lives of Wyatt Taylor and Harper Wilson

I truly can’t think of a better venue than Cypress Sea Cove, for an occasion that I know is not only monumental for the wedded-couple-to-be, but for all of us who are lucky to know and love them as individuals; but even more so as a perfect pairing.

The most remarkable moment in life is when you meet the person who makes you feel complete. The person who makes the world a beautiful and magical place. The person with whom you share a bond so special that it transcends normal relationships and becomes something so pure and so wonderful, that you can’t imagine spending another day of your life without them.

Their love story is an interesting one, which most of us would find extremely cringy- as the guests laughed-, Wyatt fell in love with Harper by the sound of her voice, he took a chance and flew 6000 miles for an interview for a job he wasn’t even looking for, and they didn’t date right away, he let fate decided, he let her go in hopes of her coming back, and she did.

So, without further ado…

Dearly beloved and honored guests:

We are gathered together here to join Wyatt Brandon Taylor and Harper Emmy Wilson in the union of marriage.

This contract is not to be entered into lightly, but thoughtfully and seriously, and with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities.

The bride and groom have each prepared vows that they will read now. Wyatt?”

Wyatt smiled widely as he took the piece paper from Liam, returning his attention to his bride as he spoke;

“Harper, I fell in love with you quick and hard, from the first time I heard your voice to the first time I saw you in that cafe crossed legged staring into the sea, and everyday after that I continue to fall in love with you. I can’t promise you that everyday would be easy, but I can promise that I would make everyday easier.

As we continue to grow in our lives together, I promise to give you all of my words when needed, and to share in the silence when they are not, to pick you up if you are down, to love you unconditionally, to lay my bare skin on you when needed most, to care for you and our families for as long as we live, to adventure with you always, to say I love you before falling asleep each night, to be the best dad I can be as we grow a family together, and to always know in the deepest part of my soul, that when challenges arise we will always find our way back to one another.

Harper, I love you then and I love you now, and I promise to love you forever, you are mine and I am yours forever” Wyatt ended his vows staring deeply into Harper’s soul, as she wiped tears that were running down her face.

She felt loved

“Harper?” Ryan asked

Harper glanced at Ryan and nodded her head in acknowledgement, taking the paper from Anika, she looked at Liam, he was still staring at her, unable to read his facial expression, she felt guilty for even looking at Liam, so she did what she had to, she smiled at Wyatt and read her vows;

“Wyatt, there’s nothing I could say to top what you’ve just said. Nothing could do it any justice, but here goes nothing.

I love you Wyatt, you are patient and you have shown me love even when I didn’t want it. You came into my life when I wasn’t looking for someone, you were persistent and flattering, you came into my life and healed a wound that I was once afraid of sharing, you did not judge me, yet you’ve kept me next to you encouraging me to go on. Thank you for accepting me for all that I am. Thank you for always supporting and loving me, unconditionally, I know I haven’t always made that easy. I promise to be your guiding light in the darkness, a warming comfort in the cold, and a shoulder to lean on when life is too much to bear on your own. I promise to be your navigator, best friend, and wife. I promise to honor, love, and cherish you through all life’s adventures. Wherever we go, we’ll go together” she ended with a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.

“And now:

Harper Emmy Wilson, do you take Wyatt Brandon Taylor to be your husband?

Do you promise to love, honor, cherish, and protect him/her, forsaking all others, and holding only unto him forevermore?”

“I do” she smiled

“And now:

Wyatt Brandon Taylor, do you take Harper Emmy Wilson to be your wife?

Do you promise to love, honor, cherish, and protect him/her, forsaking all others, and holding only unto her forevermore?”

“I ABSOLUTELY DO!” Wyatt declared loudly, gaining chuckles from the congregation

Harper smiled brightly as she stared at her husband, on the exterior she looked wonderful, on the interior she was panicking,

How would Wyatt react, when he finds out that she was in love with his best friend?

Is it really Liam?

Does Liam even remember her?

Or did he just use her?

Ryan continued, snapping her out of her thoughts;

“Wyatt Brandon Taylor and Harper Emmy Wilson will now exchange rings as a symbol of love and commitment to each other. Rings are a precious metal; they are also made precious by you wearing them. Your wedding rings are special; they enhance who you are. They mark the beginning of your long journey together. Your wedding ring is a circle—a symbol of love never ending. It is the seal of the vows you have just taken to love each other without end……”

After the rings were exchanged;

“Wyatt Brandon Taylor and Harper Emmy Wilson, it is with such joy that I now send you out into the world to spread the beautiful light that you share with those around you. By the power vested in me, I now, for the first time, pronounce you married. Now kiss and go celebrate!”

Wyatt pulled Harper in, as he held her cheek he kissed her. Something felt different. It wasn’t the same. She instantly felt guilty, but she hid it by smiling at Wyatt.

“I love you Mrs Taylor” Wyatt whispered in her ear as she blushed.

The crowd cheered as they left the altar and made their way to the next hall for the reception. They turned to wave at everyone, as a married couple, her eyes instantly found Liam, staring back at her with a hard expression.

Guilt was all she felt.
