I faced the palace and met the most gorgeous eyes I have ever seen before. Stormy gray eyes with ocean blue specs. A smirk gracing his perfect red lips and those perfectly shaped jaws, I think I just licked my lips involuntarily. He was with a blond muscular sexy guy who is in par with his beauty but not quite. The blond has perfect chiseled jaw and smiling green hazel eyes trained to the girl standing next to me on the red carpet. I looked at her and damn, I knew I like being a girl and being beautiful at the same time but this one makes me feel jealous of her perfect auburn curls and fiery orange eyes. I caught her staring at me like I did at her.
“I didn’t mean to ogle you. It’s just… you are beautiful.” I scrambled for words to cover for my stupidity of staring at her.
She smiled at me and waved her hand. “Nah, it’s cool. I mean your gorgeous honey and I was totally checking you out too.” She smirked at me.
I grinned at her and batted my eyelash like a love-struck puppy. “OH, thank you.” She laughed and shook her head.
“Down there, lassie, I’m into guys.” She laughed and I laughed with her.
“What a shame. I could have married you.” I joked at her. She faked gasped and we started laughing.
“I’m Eve.” I offered my hand at her. She shook it and smiled. “I’m Daphne.”
I gave her a once over and saw the ring on her finger.
“Oh, you’re a princess.”
Realizing my mistake, I backpedaled and put some distance between us. Every heir to the throne has their rings to identify them.
The winter prince has a sapphire ring shaped like an intricate snowflake surrounded by ice like structures. The summer prince rose gold sun ring dotted by three fire opals. The spring princess has an emerald shaped into a flower with jade stones as leaves. The Autumn prince has purple amethyst shaped leaves that has a complicated vine like band.
The dark princess well, I have black rhinestone studded ring shaped like crown. For obvious reasons, I am not wearing it on my finger but I fashioned it to be the center piece of my necklace which is hidden underneath my dress.
“oh shush, no bowing and distancing please.” She waved her hand at me and looked me straight in my eyes.
“You are so cool, now stop with the groveling and be my friend and I know it’s not proper decorum but I’m in desperate need of a cool friend before my dreaded engagement with that douchebag right there.” She jerked her head at the two guys at the top of the stairs. I brought my attention back to them.
“O-okay. Fine princess but if anyone gives me a hard time for being with you. I would ditch you without second thought.” I told her jokingly. “So, who’s the future hubby there?” Facing the two gorgeous species.
“You mean you don’t know who those two guys are?” she looked at me incredulously. I shook my head and shrugged my shoulder like it’s not a big deal.
“Wow, do your people live under a rock or something?” I shook my head and pouted at that.
“Or something?" I shrugged at her and she gave me playful eyeroll.
“Look, I really don’t know. I’m new here and life at the dark court is a little closed off so I don’t really know who’s who.”
She sighed and pointed at the silvered haired guy. Disappointment shot through my stomach and steeled myself. I’m not here to fraternize and make friends and have a love life. I’m here to be a means to an end.
“That is the gorgeous winter court prince and the blond man is the douche.” Okay, so I was wrong to assume he is the summer prince but can you blame me.
“Come on, darky I don’t have all day,” Giro tapping his foot and glaring at me.
“Fine, see you later princess,” I saluted at Daphne.
