Great. Just great. This is exactly what every girl dreams of- leaving their entire life in Leeds to go to Virginia. I know it’s just for one semester. But we are going to another country. For the beginning of high school. It just gets better and better.
For this enormously fortunate shift of continents, countries and cities, I have no one to thank but my wonderfully pig-headed little brother, Daniel James Brooks. Due to his untimely birth and weak immunity, my mother had to leave even her job a a part-time clerk at Asda. she’s actually a cardiac surgeon, but she never pursued that profession in Leeds. But now, no fear, she finally getting a job, but for that, she needs a recommendation from her home country, and now, huzzah!, we’re going to America.
Note my sarcasm.

My mother was born and brought up in America, she shifted to London after graduating, met my dad, who is British, fell in love, got married. She has one sister, Aunt Jean, they live in Virginia as well. Apparently that’s supposed to comfort me but, clearly, it does not. Aunt Jean has two kids, both boys. One who’s 19 and never home, Jack and another who is practically my twin, Charlie. My mom and dad came back to Virginia when they found out that she was pregnant and Aunt Jean found out around the same time. After my darling cousin and I were born, Aunt Jean got in a big fight with her husband and he just packed his bags and left. That was the most quiet Christmas ever, Dad says.
We lived in New York until I was three years old. Then Dad got a job offer in a bank in U.K, and we left. I don’t remember much about America, just a few vague memories and some photographs. Everyone says that me and Charlie were as close as can be, two peas in a pod, after all, he was only 10 days elder to me.
After we shifted to Leeds, my mom didn’t really get a good job,her most stable one was being a clerk at Asda. She couldn’t have a full-time job as a doctor anyway, she was too busy taking care of me. So you can imagine how busy she got when we found out I was going to have a little brother.
Now I am 15 years old, 16 in December, and Daniel is 10, and my mom is ready to fulfil her legacy as a cardiac surgeon...by ruining my life.
